Would we be a canon House or an original one? If original, might I recommend the tabletop RPG's house creation rules?
I would be interested in a game based around MTG but I don't think there's enough "room" outside of the colour pie for another colour. Wizards tried that around the time of the Time Spiral set - they were initially going to introduce Purple - but eventually went back to the drawing board because there wasn't enough room for it with everything the main colours covered.

And yeah, Artifacts and advanced technology are already covered by colourless magic and every colour except green is strongly associated with making artifacts. (Primarily white, blue and red.)

Also, for the sake of people who don't really know MtG (I'm sure they exist somewhere!) here's a more detailed breakdown of the colour pie.

Im going to back out of this; the fire's not there, I'm afraid.
We should get these characters together fairly soon.. who wants to hang out with the self-destructive hedonist turian?
"That supposed to be a punch?" Kross smiled at the krogan and took the next one of the chin. He spat green blood and smiled again. "Nearly felt that one."

Despite what some people might tell you, Afterlife is not the only place on Omega. It's one of the larger venues, definitely one of the more popular. But if you want loud music, strong drink and a coin-toss between whether you're leaving with a sexual partner or a violent attacker, you could do better. You could also do much worse. Kross had gone to one of those other places, Barbour. He'd had a few drinks, danced with a Batarian male(?), done some shameless things to the Batarian in the alley behind the club and then on the way home realized he was being followed by a bunch of heavies.

A Krogan, two Turians. Couldn't see weapons. Seemed like they were mostly relying on the Krogan's size and their greater numbers to do things here. Turians to hold him, Krogan to beat him, try to make off with his valuables. This should be fun.

The fight had broken out in a public intersection. The two Turians had come at Kross, only he had a foot and twenty pounds on them. The first went off the railing down into the ventilation systems, screaming. The second tried grabbing at Kross' wrists and got a meaty knee to the chin. As he reeled back, Kross grabbed his facial mandibles and yanked down hard, ripping the fleshy protrusions free in a shower of gore. The Turian fell back, clutching his face and screeching in a high piercing tone.

Then the Krogan came in, a bullrushing mass that caught him in the side. The two of them grappled, trading blows. And all the while Kross was laughing. This was better than the Batarian. Two punches. Then Kross managed to get one of his talons in the Krogan's eye, forcing it back, bellowing.

<<Message Incoming From Contact: "the boss">> cropped up across his AR overlay as the two of them rejoined and grappled again. How many kidneys did Krogans have? He figured just punching somewhere would probably hit a kidney. All those redundant organs. But as the message kept buzzing - not leaving a recording, Ticus must want an active face-to-face - Kross guessed he'd need to wrap this up quickly. He stomped out the Krogan's kneecap and used the opening to twist the neck right round, severing the spinal cord. Panting, exhilarated, he answered the call.

"Yeah, boss?"

<<Kross. Time for you to come in from the cold. There's work to be done.>>
I don't know about any sources for the PDFs of the book online, but I did find this random generator: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/207984753/Game%20of%20Thrones%20-%20Random%20House%20Generator.html

Hope that helps
So, as mentioned before I ran through the House Creation rules and here's what I came out with for my house. Warning, there are numbers but I've done my best to explain what they mean relatively. I smoothed out the stats a bit since I won't actually be USING hard numbers in play and this was just a prompt to see what I could turn said numbers into.

Now, here's what these events mean: given that they were founded due to an ancient catastrophe in the North, I'm thinking they were established in the wake of the Long Night. There once was a brave Northern king, let's call him Orrick, who gathered his men to him in preparation of the coming winter behind his castle's high walls. When the snowfall stopped and no word came from Grey Bastion or the men within, the surviving First Men found the gates bolted but the castle wholly empty. All the men within seemed to have entirely vanished, women and children too. Orrick had gathered his family close and they were nowhere to be seen. Ownership of Grey Bastion was claimed by Caer "Cruel-Ice" (our Villain event; he shored up the military and political power of the house at the expense of the smallfolk) Let's say that it's from him the house takes it's name; House Caerson.

For the most part, House Caeron has been quiet and working hard at the business of living and staying out of political squabbles (the Infrastructure events). They fought off the Ironborn during their Ascent. During the Conquest, there was a Scandal - given that Torrhen was marching south, perhaps Caerson refused to march and even argued for the North to submit to the Targaryens. Most recently, during the Dance of Dragons, the House has prospered greatly; perhaps Lord Caerson was part of the Winter Wolves or kept the company of Lord Cregan Stark. Or perhaps there was more active conflict in the North during the Dance and the Caerson's crushed a Green house?
<<At some point, you'll have to talk to them.>>

The Quarian in the corner held a quiet conversation with the digital projection of a dancing, cartoon-style Rachni coming from his omni-tool. Suen tottered unevenly on odd legs, his red-purple chitin vivid technicolour shades. Only Davo could hear Suen's side of the conversation, relayed to him through his suit's internal electronics via AR layering. Davo had taken the most defensible position he could have in the bar, a corner seat in a booth near the door so he'd have plenty of room to bolt if things went south. He didn't care for places like this; they were always crowded and loud. Even through the muffling of his suit, they'd pulse music so hard it blasted away all his resolve. But this place was smaller, quieter, not so crowded. But a place like this was a place like this and he was never quite comfortable. It felt like he was sitting on a hot plate.

"Mm." He called up an AR keyboard and began typing away quickly in mid-air. The program was checking in on some of the automated cooking he'd left behind him in his home base. Free Will wasn't expensive to get materials for but it was tricky ot get just right if you didn't pay it heed. After checking the temperature gauges were nominal and the pressures were all in acceptable parameters, Davo wiped away the screens and moved on to another program. This was more blue-sky stuff, drawing chemical signs with his finger tips, testing bonds and trying to extrapolate end-results from there. Assume a precursor material of medi-gel, standard-issue civilian-grade packs (contains enough complex neuro-active ingredients for value; opiate painkillers, adrenal stimulants, nano-active colonies) Boil down to base components, add..

<<Hey!>> Suen intervened to jolt Davo out of his little trance with a subtle electric shock delivered subcutaneously via his cybernetic implants. <<Eyes on the prize, bitch!>>

"I never programmed profanity into you. Where did that come from?" He murmured softly to himself and quashed Suen's projection, though the VI's rant continued inside his ears without visual accompaniment. He was taking in the scenery, really he'd never stopped, but now he was really looking instead of just seeing. Turians, an asari, humans. Not a hugely different demographic than the Omega populace averages, given the sample size, though one whole asari in the group worked out to be a statistical over-representation. She only needed forty percent of her mass, to compensate. Replace the remaining biomass with vorcha and the room would come closer to average.

<<You are going to socially interact and you are going to like it!>>

"Unlikely, based on previous empirical evidence." He sighed and twitched again.
So, what I plan to do is use the random House generation mechanics from the tabletop ASOIAF RPG to create a minor house and then make characters for it. I'll post up the stats and all that when I'm done. I'm not sure if the rules are up online, but I thought it might be cool to mention it in case people wanted to do something similar.
Definitely interested. Few questions:

1. Characters or Houses? That is, are we going to be playing individuals or more along the lines of a nation-ish RP?

2. Canon, semi-canon or non-canon? That is, are we going to be play with the normal houses and timeline, slightly tweaked versions or a strange alternate dimension where the Ironborn aren't utter drek?
