Consider it a learning experience. You're fine playing your character as you wish, due to this not being a die-hard Warhammer universe.
Edit: Hell, if I were to bring up my Fan-dom Red Wolf lore to the 'codex thumpers' I'd be laughed out of the hobby shop. We're all taking liberties here... Well execept for @Lone Wanderer that codex thumper.

Yeah, 40k is not a universe where being 'unique' is not usually a good thing. So the fact that you are an enigmatic Legionnaire that shows up in the Imperium's darkest hour and sways the tide of battle, hosting significant psychic abilities (one of which is directly derived from the warp(time bubble)), and having an abominable face- you're not going to be welcomed to most dinner parties.
That is, in the standard 40k universe, GoW is bolstering a setting that is much more lax in it's 'master race' mentality. Now to Lone's credit, he is playing his chapter very well, and his chapter doesn't mesh well with what your character is and does. Such is the nature of 40k though. So you're liable to ruffle a few feathers, Rand just doesn't care because he's looking for the next fight. Space wolves have a much more liberal mentality (being one of the few chapters that aren't chem-gelded), have a history of being anti-authoritarian, and just generally want a good fight to honor the 'All-Father'.
So you're going to have some spats, but believe me... It could be much, much worse >_<
It would give us a reason to post in OOC about possible strategies and plan of attack so we aren't just doing our own thing and having you piece together the events in order. Instead, setting a order amongst ourselves about who does what first and how to coordinate our efforts.
"Angriff, watch your flank!" Jorn shouted, attempting to raise his voice above the chaos. Between the man being shredded by wolves and his now enclosed ally, Jorn could see the events of this battle playing out poorly for the party, "Damnit." As he replaces the crossbow beneath his cloak, his hand would shoot the hilt of his blade, the metal chiming audibly as the sword was drawn from it's sheath.
Before he could prepare to make his charge, the priestess had worked her magic to disorient the beasts, "Perfect! Angriff, veer left!"
As his voice called out to his comrade, Jorn gritted his teeth to steel himself for what was to come. Forcefully, he'd jab his heels into his horse's side, spurring the beast forward as he made a charge towards the back of the beasts before him. Though the will of his mount was somewhat sketchy, Jorn would attempt to roll up behind the right most wolf (to Angriff's left), slashing into the beast with his blade- and trampling him with the horse if possible. He gave himself room for the horse to continue it's sprint, tugging on the reins to help veer the steed back towards the walls of the town after his strike. His goal was to open an avenue for which Angriff could escape- or at least have an attempt at running.
The jarring sounds of his target continued to plague the pilot as he tried his best to focus on the prevalent information displayed by his suits AI. It was this focus that caused him to lose track of the events around him as one of the cheerleaders rushed him and landed a successful strike upon him. Cursing his tunnel vision, he attempted to slip away from his assailant as he rushed Thrash.

Guided by the system's indications, Vex would dart towards Thrash as she entered his range, bringing his blades up in an attempt to maim/cripple the hands of the drummer.
