Name: Amelia Weber
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Personality: Amelia is an introverted, but good-natured young girl who finds solace in the internets she indulges in regularly. She isn't exactly a social outcast, but it's worth noting that a majority of her interactions with her peers are held online. She's seen as her class's Internet Guru, guiding many of the class's tech-related projects and earning a reputation as an overachiever. She has a bit of a complex about her poor athleticism, and has a hard time relating to adults.

Background: There isn't much to say about the things Amelia has done with her life - she's a student first and foremost, an academically minded young girl who takes the whole world in stride, moving constantly towards the future. The only adult she really bonds with is her mother, who shares her love for video games. They've taken to playing an obscure foreign VRMMO, due to their poor financial situation.
Ingame Name: Riske
Ingame Personality: Riske is much sassier than Amelia, tinged by her competitive spirit and disdain for tryhards. She feeds off the salt of her enemies, drawing a sort of smug energy from it. Despite her competitiveness, she's in this for fun - her enjoyment is her top priority. It just so happens that she enjoys winning above most else.

She enjoys optimizing less-good builds, and experiments with new characters often. This is one such character. Additionally, she's unusually in touch with the roleplaying community because of her mother. She puts some effort into that aspect of her character for this reason, seeing it as an important bonding opportunity.

Class: Archer
Notable Skills:
  • Improvised Arsenal - A largely overlooked skill for Archers, which is seen as a last resort technique for when you run out of arrows. It allows the user to turn ordinary weapons into Throwing weapons, and in turn use Throwing weapons as ammunition for their bow. This is generally seen as being useless, since you never really run out of arrows. Amelia saw the potential in this skill, and built Riske entirely around it.
  • Archer's Valour AKA Cancer - One of a set of signature Archer skills that are designed for kiting enemies. This particular one allows you to move at full speed even while attacking. It is notorious for the annoying gameplay it creates in PvP, as classes without a means to catch the Archer will find them running circles around them spamming taunts and frost arrows.
  • [Skill slot burned for Magic Item]
Equipment:
  • Quiver of Returning - A magic item on the rarer side of things, at least this early in the game. Has high capacity but most importantly, has the magical quality of returning one's expended ammunition to the quiver after a short delay. Useful for Riske, who equips a lot of frankly unorthodox ammunition- a centerpiece of her Improvised Arsenal build.
  • (Weapons) - Longbow, 10x Daggers, 5x Shortswords, 5x Hand Axes, 3x Shortspears, 2x Longswords, Sack of Bear Traps.
  • (Armour) - Agility Armour, Elven Breastplate, Cape of the Wardancer.
  • (Misc) - 5x Potions of Healing (Lesser), 10x Smoke Bombs, Grappling Hook, 5x Spare Bowstrings.
  • Survival Package - A backpack with a high carrying capacity, that can't store combat items. Heavily used by roleplayers and those who rely heavily on food for healing. Contains food, water, rope, a bedroll and supplies for setting up a tent. Firestarter and Fishing Rod are a given, as are pots and pans.

Others: Has a special account-bound cosmetic in the form of a tattoo. Indicates an impressive number of PvP victories.

Excellent. I know that I already have an cute Familiar on the way (courtesy of Evergreen), but I wanted to make clear that I intend on having a faction of sorts under Atlantes, as mentioned in his sheet. Anybody who wants to be a part of a sneaky, semi-serious magical mix between the mafia and cheesy 90's villains, give me a call.

Note: May involve your possible death by heroic adventuring party or horrific death ray malfunction.
Name: Atlantes
Aliases: The Quiet Lord, Magus of the Taut Chain
Age: 46
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance: While not young by any stretch, there is still a sort of youthful energy to Atlantes appearance that contrasts with his greying hair. He stands quite tall for a human, at 190cm when standing at his full height. His shoulders are broad, and his fame surprisingly large for a man so engrossed in books. His eyes are grey, and sharp with determination - they shine a brilliant hue when he is wielding the strongest of his magics. His hair is worn shoulder-length, and waves dramatically in the wind along with his typically black cloak and robes.

His charisma and unusual aura lend itself to him appearing quite handsome, for those who don't mind the signs of his age.

He has a magical quiver on his back, seemingly filled with staves of various designs and lengths.

Personality: Pure determination. This is the force that drives Atlantes to great heights, trampling over all the world on his path to the future. He isn't where he is today because he was gifted, or born for greatness, but because he fought, and bled, and worked until he went even further beyond his lot in life. Now, he stands atop it looking down on it all, and realizes what has to be done to make the world a better place.

He must rule it.

It was this line of thinking that lead him to become what he is today. To some, he is a walking joke, concocting a new, ridiculious scheme to take over the city each week. To others, he is the regal and wise ruler of the Quiet Circle, moving his subordinates like pieces on a board to outmaneuver law enforcement and heroes alike. The menacing figure, and the exaggerated buffoon - which are his true self, and what are all of these seemingly unrelated ploys working up towards? It's a great mystery, even to the Lord's closest subordinates. He is a man shrouded in layers of mystery, too many to peel off easily, or quickly. One thing about him is certain...

He has a plan. And he's working towards it ever slowly, without stop.

Power:
Phenomenal Wizardly Power: The command of magical energies through careful research and application of advanced thaumaturgical theorums. It is far removed from the arts of Sorcery, which manipulate one's own inherent magic to achieve supernatural feats. Atlantes possesses not a single drop of magic in his veins, and thus needs to rely entirely on wizardry to accomplish anything beyond his mundane means. But don't let that fool you into thinking he's weak - far from it, he stands among the magic elite, an archmage who is without peer when stood among the regular populace.

What's strong about him isn't raw power or (heavens forbid) speed, but his ingenious creativity and intelligence. He's a tactition who plays his opponents like puppets, leading them into unwinnable situations while preparing all sorts of dastardly incantations to foil and confound them.

But for all of his magical tricks, he is not without flaw. Every act of magic he ever preforms was, in some way or another, prepared ahead of time. It's necessary, because using magic for him is not something that comes naturally, but it leaves him open to being exploited by unforseen circumstances or intervention from outside variables. To combat this, he has armed himself with an incredible array of magic items, and has at his fingertips a variety of prepared spells that, while slow to cast, can get him out of many a pinch.

His plans are slow, and heavy on investiture of resources and his personal attention. But they are great, and many-layered, difficult to penetrate and even more difficult to destroy. This fact is mirrored in his magic, which is at its strongest after lengthy periods of preparation.

Dimensional Passage: One of many forms of object transferrence, or "teleportation", this particular brand having been theorized and put into action by Atlantes himself. He uses it in its perfect form, as the magic's creator and pioneer, holding unparalleled mastery of it and all of its applications.

The theory is simple. A door is something that connects one region to another, through space. But what would happen if you used magic to change where in space a door leads? Using this question as the basis for his research, Atlantes developed a technique that allowed him to step through one door, and come out from another far, far away. He has to know where he's going, but this technique gives him incredible maneuverability within urban environments laden with doors of all kinds.

One can, using this technique, take others with them across the Passage, so long as they are under the caster's direct supervision. Truly a versatile technique, but weak to an oddly specific and incredibly common piece of technology - locks.

Likes: Sweets (especially cake), rainy days, a good book.

Dislikes: Anything bitter (especially medicine), wet socks, religious zealots.

Essential Setting Info
Earth, the Illuminati and You

The year is 21XX. Advancements in robotics and artificial intelligence have catapulted the civilized world into a tentative prosperity, and for those who can afford it, the quality of life has never been better. There is some question about those who are left over, but for the most part, they scrape by without too many complaints. The entertainment industry is going stronger than ever, and humanity's larger-than-life idols hold a great deal of sway over social issues, putting in a unique and powerful position.

There's also a Hotel on the moon.

All of this is the result of countless years of careful planning and puppeting by a certain society of powerful individuals, who seek to dominate the planet.

The Illuminati.

Now hidden in plain sight at the forefront of all of the major global powers in the world, this shadowy organisation is at the height of its power, and is seeking to put into motion its final plans. The exact details of these plans are unknown, but needless to say, they are not good news for humanity. Unless they want to be controlled by a bunch of creeps in jackets.

Politics and Stuff

In the year 20XX, Russia spontaneously collapsed into heavily armed chaos. At the same time, in the depths of Argentina, Hitler's historic vision is reborn. These two events, followed by several other less significant ones, signaled the start of a brief and bloody World War Three. The end result: The drastic expansion of Japan's power in the East, accompanied by the weakening of China's, and the American expansion into most of South America.

Even after the war, there are still armed conflicts in several locations around the world. In the Middle-East, conflict seems to rage on perpetually. A problem that should have been solved decades ago remains as hot as ever in 21XX, despite countless attempts to "End the fighting once and for all".

Everything else is pretty much the same as ever. Except for North Korea. It's gone.

The Actual Important Stuff (ANGELS and TENSHI)

ANGELS are specialized infiltration robots that have been in operation for the last ten years, under the careful observation of the creatively named and highly secretive TENSHI project. The goal was to develop and utilize the ANGELS in order to eliminate high-priority enemies of Japan and to suppress political unrest through the subtle application of force. They acted in a mostly independent manner, being covered for by a certain branch of the Japanese military that was the source of much of their funding and support.

The results of the project were largely successful, although their usage did not go completely unnoticed by the general public. In particular, there was a sudden surge of public interest following an incident at an Elementary School, which almost resulted in the exposure of the entire project to the public eye. Thankfully, they managed to cover it up successfully, although the berserk model was never actually recovered from the accident.

However, as time progressed, the organization began to notice that the amount of support being poured into their operations was growing to be unusual. It was at about this time that their operations were moved to Hawaii, where they were shocked to discover that there was another, identical team working out of the United States, who they had been cooperating with without even realizing it.

It was there that they were briefed on the true nature of their mission. They weren't just developing secret weapons for Japan, they were developing the weapons that would hopefully save the future of humankind as a whole. For there was a hidden, deadly threat rapidly gathering power in the background. A secret society of really bad dudes, who could mean nothing but trouble for the human race.

It was there that the Special Task Force was formed in its truest form.

Okay that's enough for today's super informative update. Character sheet soon.

I meant to have it up today but I fell asleep.
Wow! This gathered interest a lot quicker than I expected!

There will be another update post tomorrow. I hope that everyone can stay interested long enough for this to kick off.
Seems interesting.

Awesome!

There are a lot of aspects I have yet to fully develop, but if you (or anyone else) have questions about the thread, feel free to ask.

I don't have anything better to do, after all.
