I'm going to kind of precede this by saying that medieval fantasy is (kind of) everything I do. Games, reading, writing... it's the genre I am the most passionate about, so I've spent a good amount of years (eleven) digging my grave in it and the headstone will probably read "Fantasy Trash." Basically, swords, magic, adventure, curses, maps... I love it all.
Only thing I don't love is world-building for forever and a day. I like establishing a land, a season, maybe a little bit here and there... and to those who can sit there for forever and a day building, mad respect, mad props. You are amazing. It's just not in my priorities, I'm sorry. xD
I'll admit my roleplay style is kind of specific. I blame it on the handful of successful, long-term roleplays that I had, because how much fun and time were had and spent on them. xD Basically, I don't do character sheets--I don't know if they're a big deal here. I do paragraph intros where it just jumps in as the first post, and the length of my posts is situation sensitive. If more is happening at once, I may only write a paragraph or two. If less is happening, or I'm revealing something about/between my characters, I may write more. Sooo. Casual to Advanced. ;)
That brings me to characters... I'm huge on doubling. Like, I generally start off with two characters. Minimum. I bring in more, I play side characters, and ask that my partner does too, so that it ends up being a more... "inclusive" world, if you will. If either of us play two or a handful of characters it leaves so much room! I strive for very book-esque, videogame-esque happenstances... If you've played Dragon Age, Bound by Flame, Fable, Witcher, Skyrim, or just know how games tend to have a main plot but side quests and whatnot? That's what I love to happen. Development is the key word.
... And development also goes for plot and romance. Plots are great fun, but, I feel like too heavy of a plot smothers the RP. If you are cool with it, I like to let one inciting incident make our characters' worlds collide, and let the rest be character-driven with some brainstorming now and again in OOC. Romance-wise, my characters may be heterosexual, or they may not be. I don't conform them to the roleplay, I like to see what happens. If you want to know a character's sexuality, just ask. xD But I guarantee you that three posts in none of my characters are going to have a romantic interest in anything, unless some jerk uses a potion. xD Development is super important to me--maybe characters that initially don't get along have a change of heart? Maybe not.
Anyways. All of that is why I'm searching for long-term. I want it to have time, I want the world to be open, for the RP to have endless possibilities. If you're interested, please PM me. I've just had a really long time to figure out myself as a roleplayer--and through this post, I hope you can tell that I've got an appreciation for punctuation, grammar, and the like. I'm not perfect--I don't want to be.
