Sorry, I was busy the other day.
If you chose Drift then yes you would have to make two characters for it. Unless you want to have an insane amount of PMs or short communication posts which is not a good idea.

People don't play RPS with me past 4 times. Everyone has a subconscious pattern they follow for winning and losing each round... I can pick it up after 4 throws.

I learned today that I have a terrible cardiovascular system. Went for a mile bike ride and came home feeling like I had lungs too small and my heart was going to explode.
"I must ask," Seth spoke again. "Do you have him in your service?" He really wished that he was in the service of this acting ruler. It would make his job a lot easier. "He is... well... faulty. He is comprised of a completely independent AI governed only by a Central Computer System. This was done to prevent the mind control of any enemies, but He has found a reason to shut it off preventing it from preforming the emergency directive shutdown." He paused realizing that he probably is not making any sense. "In short: he has joined the resistance group, and is planning to aid in the assassination of the Empress, but I am an improvement over Victor. I have a consciousness built in to me systems allowing me to know right conduct from wrong when in the Royal Service. Where he was weak I was made strong, and if you will have me I will insure the no harm befalls the Rule of the House I was sent to preserve." He then knelt on one knee with his head to the ground waiting a response.

After a short while of pounding away and the debris Victor found the outside world once more as he punhed through, his fist sticking out. He pulled it back in and with one last hit he kicked a large section of concrete sending it flying across the street and through another building. Stepping out he quickly located the woman he was aiding before who was being attacked by Vengous. She seemed to be quick and agile but he was closing in with every attack.
"To stop Vengous he must be rendered unconscious."

Victor crouched back in his stance then lept with speed like lightning ready to grab Vengous and tackle him into next week.

Set in the time of 2034 and saying The Throat was destroyed by the blast from Gypsy Danger but was reopened so we continue fighting the kaijus. The blast did stop them from coming for a while and set back their category levels, but they are as relentless as before. We fight still using the Jaegers, but there are two different kind now: Drift and Single models. The new single models alow for smaller, faster, and more maneuverability. The cons are they are less durable and have less power. Most times the are used for recovery missions and escorts through dangerous zones or paired with Drifts. The Kaijus, as said before, are coming a lot slower only 10 in the past year.
We haven't been perfectly safe in our defenses and have had some close calls, but in the year since they started coming again we haven't lost a singel Jaeger. Cities have been damaged and Jaegers have been pretty beat up, but we have always come out on top so far.
Here is how missions are going to work for the Jaeger Program. When we receive a reading of a kaiju then, depending on how many and how big, we will choose the most qualified Jaeger or Jaegers. Your qualification will be determined on how many Kaiju you have taken out, as well as how much damage to a city you have caused. If a fight is brought to a city that will count against you as well as how much damage you cause there. The more fights you win at sea the better your ratings will be.
With there being two models of Jaegers there are also two types giving you three choices: Amphibious Drift or Single, Air single. There can't be Drift air models because ther are simply to big to fly, and we can't have flying robots the size of skyscrapers. Deal with it.
The location of the Rift is now too deep for us to read, but we have a good guess by charting the paths from where the kaiju have come. The searches of the areas have come back negative so far which means we are just shooting in the dark right now.
This won't be all fights and bustin' up alian face tho, there will be down time for characters to develop and other things. For right now I want to see what the interest is so I don't do a bunch of story plotting for nothing.
