I do believe that in one of the comics Deathstrok was employed by Robin to help train the team.
As the time got close to start class he stood up and waited standing behind his podium bring up a few files on the screen for him to reference from. He still was very unconversational and looked almost in an off mood now that he was reading through the notes he had received.

That may be true, but the super soldier serum he was given slows his bodies aging. In the shows he appears in he is over 60 years old with he physical appearance of someone in their mid 30s save for the white hair. The extent of the serum's ability to keep him this way I have not found, but nothing is to say he is now too old.
Well, I don't know about you, but leaving him behind would serve as a good ending for him to me. As I see it he has come to the realization that he has lost everything, and there is really nothing waiting for him here. He wanted out, but seeing Josh and Jinny has made him recognize most of all he wants his family back.
We don't necessarily have to kill him so much as fade him out of the story, leave his end to the imagination of the reader.

Hector was not his usual self while sitting at his desk. Instead of putting together something fun to engage with his students the board just read as follows:
He wasn't standing and greeting his students as the entered nor was he even scanning of the class. Hector just sat and worked on his computer checking over the regular stuff and reading a flood of emails that had come in over the course of a few hours.
