Matt tried to keep his aircraft reasonably steady as Eleven went after the bandit on his tail. Soon enough, he heard the explosion behind him, signalling the success. "I thank you too, over." he told him on the squad channel. Now free, the Jaguar boosted out, looking for another prey. He didn't want to celebrate until the fight was over. This event shouldn't be too far off, as he heard from Overwatch that there are only a few bombers left. The fighter count must've been diminished as well since that report. All in all, he knew the end was very close and that the squad will soon have their first mission success in the bag.

His thoughts were confirmed as One announced that there is only one bomber left and the remaining bandits are all retreating. His eyes were on the left off Bear as it tried to make one last move before its inevitable end. Already preparing to go for it, he suddenly heard Four saying that they're already in range and they will be the ones taking it down. Taking their decision into account, he decided to back off and watch while making sure none of the fighters decide to come back. Seeing that the Tu-95 was about to unleash its payload and thus the bomb bay was exposed, he was ready for a large explosion. When Four finally struck the fatal blow however, the detonation was a lot larger than he expected.

"All right, this is it then. he said after the deed was done. "Great job everyone, it was a pleasure flying with all of you, looking forward to more." he continued, now on the squadron channel. And really, it was a demonstration of force by the Excalibur Squadron. However, this engagement was deep in UN territory and the fight was still very close at certain points. He knew that as they venture into the UNWO's countries, the challenge will be a lot bigger. For sure he was looking forward for it.

Sauron's in Berlin or something, he posted about it before.

Yep, the post's just a page back:

I'll go to Berlin tomorrow for a week, then an additional week in London after that.
All right, posted. Won't leave Dean behind!
There was not much planning involved in Ryan's decision to defend the other two survivors. If he would've hesitated, he might've just arrived too late. He was not the self-sacrificing hero type, but he was willing to expose himself to danger for the sake of others. Until a certain point, that is. As the number of creatures to slay or shoot down kept growing, he felt that he has crossed this point. However, bailing out right now was not an option. Betraying the two when they basically placed their lives on him was far worse than just letting them fight for themselves. So he kept on going.

The creatures came constantly, mostly in small groups, fortunately for Ryan. The smaller their mobs are, the easier it is to deal with them. Sometimes he felt that he was thrown into some sort of bizarre game where he's the playable character, having to fight until he's overwhelmed. The difference was, there was no respawn. If it's game over, there's no waking up. Or there is, but that's worse than dying. For a moment, he thought about all these relentless monsters being fellow humans once. He knew that he must not feel remorse for killing them despite this fact, as he actually does them a favor by doing so.

Despite not having a huge arsenal, Ryan managed to master the katana and the pistol, the two weapons he had and was constantly switching between them for close and longer range combat respectively, making sure he was using them for maximum effectiveness. Some of the shots caused more gore than others and after a few minutes his clothes were starting to get bloody. While he would be disgusted of that in regular days, he didn't have the time nor the luxury to complain right now. Despite all the hazards, he held pretty well, not allowing the creatures to get close to the survivors, even if the only way of keeping them away was to draw them away from them and to him. He played a dangerous game, but so far it paid off.

Slowly but surely however, he was getting exhausted. He missed more and more shots and eventually ran out of bullets. He glimpsed back to the pair. The girl looked very worried rightfully so, as the guy was struggling to stay awake and alive. The situation seemed hopeless. Suddenly, the guy, with a very desperate voice, asked him and the girl to get away from him and let him die. Even though at that point it most likely would've been the most logical option, Ryan refused to leave. Not after this last 15 or so minutes. However, they needed to get away quick indeed. Despite only using the katana for a while now, he has already made enough noise to wake all the creatures up in the proximity. They couldn't hold them all back.

His mind was racing, trying to think of a plan to get them all away. They could most probably get away with the truck next to them and there was enough space to house the injured guy until the girl, who was seemingly a doctor, could cure him more effectively. But how could they get him on the truck while still fending off the creatures? Even though he wasn't fat at all, but he was practically dead weight and it would surely take both of them to carry him, unless he can stand up and go by himself. Still, this was the only available option he could think of.
"You're right, we can't stay here anymore, but I won't let you die here. We go together. If the truck is still functional, we have a chance. You - Ryan pointed at the girl - could help him get on it while I hold the creatures off. Once that's done, I get on too and we're gone." he presented his plan.
Funny fact, Rhapsody and Thundercat are both in GTA V in some form. The Declasse Rhapsody is an American retro car; Thundercat is a musician, whose track "O Sheit It's X" appears on the in-game radio station FlyLo FM.

Posted. Cleared the bandit off Twelve, so that should get the ball rolling for us to start chasing the bandits instead of them chasing us.

Same here, I've secured Eleven. :3
Matt wasn't the one who managed to earn a bandit on his tail. At least two others were in the same situation as him, as he heard from the squad channel. Because of this, the bombers they were supposed to shoot down managed to launch six more missiles, giving the interceptors more work to do. It was the time he got tired of being the one chased. His opponent's aim was not the best, but his aircraft was agile and it was hard to turn on it once it's onto you. Seeing that he won't be able to lose the bandit by himself, he decided to help out someone else while keeping up with his manouvers. He just heard that Eleven got engaged on by not one, but two hostiles. Locating the F-20 Tigershark and starting to speed towards it, he announced his intention on the comms: "Eleven, Seven's coming to help. Be aware that the engage might come slower than usual. I have a bandit problem as well, over.", also notifying him about his situation.

He quickly reached his squadmate and the two fighters on him, a Flanker and an MiG-29. They were manouvering like hell, which made gaining a lock-on a lot harder. Not to mention the pesky bandit still relentlessly firing behind him. He felt the real heat for the first time in this fight. After a few minutes which seemed like a few seconds for him, he almost gave up on trying to strike with the Meteor missiles. Already attempting to get closer for the R.550s, he suddenly noticed that the Flanker perfectly lined up for him momentarily. Almost missing the opportunity, he hastily locked on and fired. "Fox-Three, Fox-Three!" he shouted with the feeling of pumping adrenaline in his voice. The missile didn't disappoint as it mercilessly brought down hell like a real meteor on the bandit. Yeah, take that! he said, feeling a sense of achievement. However, he still had plenty of work to do as Eleven was still in trouble and himself got rounds flying increasingly closer to him as well.

Being close enough, he switched to the cannons again and started firing longer bursts this time. Most of them missed, but he managed to land a few crucial shots on its wings, making it harder for the bandit to manouver. Slowly losing control over his aircraft, the MiG's pilot stopped chasing Eleven and blasted out straight ahead. Not giving him a chance to escape, Matt shot an R.550 at him to finish the job. "Whew, this was exciting, bandits down." he told Eleven and the rest of the squad. Meanwhile however, his chaser managed to land a few shots on the fuselage, not resulting in any loss of function yet, but being too dangerous to ignore. Dammit, I still have a fighter on me...
I'm actually intentionally waiting right now for someone to kill of the bandit of off my tail. Would make more sense to post after that, can't do much while Matt's being chased.
Are we planning to be more group-oriented? Ryan just found Takiko and Dean. =) I have plans for interaction with others, I just thought it would be logical as my character was close by.
Ryan was disappointed. He looked through the first few houses in the suburbs of Chicago, only to find nothing useful. The fact that he wasted a ton of time to no avail also angered him a little. The time it took to search one building was a lot longer than he wanted it to be, because he had to check his every corner in fear of a hungry mutant that might be waiting for him behind it. He also had to sneak between houses, even though seemingly there weren't too many creatures outside. He made a mistake earlier when he decided to attack a lone creature. While he did kill it, its grawls attracted many more and he was forced to run, something he was trying to avoid. Fortunately they gave up as soon as they lost sight of him. He knew he wouldn't always be that lucky however.

His stubborness was put to test as he pondered whether he should continue searching or not. The houses he saw so far where all unfortified and undefended, only one of them had a simple fence. He knew spending a night inside one of those would be suicide. Putting his bag down next to him as he was sitting on a bed in the latest home he looked into, he took out a chocolate bar to boost his spirit. The bed was quite comfortable and for a moment he felt obliged to just lie down, have some sleep and call it a day. A good ten minutes of rest never killed anyone, did it? he said to himself. Suddenly however, he heard shooting from the woods he came from. Immediately jumping up and putting his bag back on his back, he pulled out his pistol from its sheath and ran out.

Slicing two creatures on the way, Ryan quickly arrived to the entrance of Chicago. The sounds of the shots became louder and louder as they guided him to his destination. His mind was racing with the possibility of meeting fellow survivors, finally. The feeling of doubt was there of course, but he overlooked that for now. As he was about to reach the presumed place, the shooting stopped and deadly silence paired with growls occupied everything again, halting him in his tracks. "What if the survivor died?" he thought and started to blame himself for not arriving earlier. However, he decided to still move on and check out what happened.

He noticed a car and two people, one lying seemingly unconscious and the other one trying to help him. They must've been ambushed, he thought. He also saw numerous creatures closing in on them, knowing that he has to act now. Not thinking much, he jumped into the action with a well-placed shot on one of the mutants.
"Keep doing what you're doing, I'll hold them back the best I can!" he shouted to the two, not even introducing himself. Shooting another two bullets, he drew his katana and stood ready for the creatures. Using a safe moment, he plugged in his earphones and turned up some music to add to the vibe.
