Act two of the original three is done. It is about 100 pages and 23k words. I'll be merging the first two acts into one and the book will end up being about twice as long as originally projected.

Act 1 of 3 is done. It’s about 100 pages and 23k words and has a prelude, 8 chapters, and an interlude. I’m looking at 100k words as an approximate goal.

Bio

Thrawn: "I have read about the nightswan. Have you?"

Nightswan: "You refer to the fact that it sings only as night is falling?"

Thrawn: "Yes. You do not expect your stand to succeed, do you?"

Nightswan: "I know that it won't succeed."

Thrawn: "That does not necessarily mean the end. I can give orders for you to be taken unharmed."

Nightswan: "They will be ignored. Half the troops here are Batonn Defense and Restos is determined to get rid of me."

Thrawn: "Then come with me now!"

Nightswan: "A man must do what he must, Admiral Thrawn. Even if his stand is against the fall of eternal night."

The cave was cold, humid, warm, wet and dry. Quite the slew of different things used to describe the same thing simultaneously. Melvus seemed to have picked the worst time to fall asleep, seemingly ignoring the fact that it was about to rain. There was a fire and the cart had been taken into the cave. Melvus didn't move, his clothing clung to him and were heavy to bear. He was tired and so, chose not to move for a time as the rest of everyone dried off, chattered and generally slowed down for the latter half of the day. They couldn't travel in the heavy rain which made the loud sound of the world falling outside of the mouth of the cave.

Melvus cast his Arm of the Heavens, removed his cloak and most of his robe. He took them in the arm and held them above the fire as he sprawled out in the wagon, in the long sleeved shirt and pants he wore under his outfit. His clothing still soaked, he lay there waiting for them to dry or for something interesting to take his attention.

“I did not expect you to know… I thought asking could do no harm.” Perhaps I will never find them..? Melvus closed his eyes and stopped thinking for a moment. He could hear nothing but the clopping of hooves and the rocking of the cart as it bounced along the rough dirt road. Slowly he began allowing other sensory input to fill the void. Birds chirping, the faded voices of his companions as they talked and he didn’t listen, the sound of the trees rustling in the wind. Perhaps I should find a purpose..? I lost my previous one when Efrida became Queen of Drisbane… I could find a new lord after this… this… Melvus opened his eyes and saw the dark clouds in the sky, turning the day to night.

What should I do next? The wizard didn’t know. He never did… most of what he did was based on his current situation. If he had to guess, after the quest he should find another to take his mind off of the impossible and back to the reality of the world. Life goes on… What’s meant to soar will soar and what is meant to die will die… My village, my family - they’re dead and I need to put an end to this decade and a half, fruitless, search… The vagabond shifted in the cart to a more comfortable position.

No… I can never end the search… not until I find them… or their corpses wherever they may be... Yes… whatever dies will die, but what is lost must also be found or it will remain lost and forgotten forever… I am no god, I am a man and I will do this… No matter how long it takes… I will find them… Garth pulled his hood over his head, hiding it from the world and its distractions. It didn’t take a minute for him to fall into the world of dreams.
Her concern was comforting... But Roy saw no possibility of not finding out about whatever that was. "Concerned I may regret it? I have more regrets than I can count and I've already been through the gates of hell and back..." He took a moment to reminisce. "I can take whatever you have, try me." He took a swig from the dark bottle. The liquid burning on its way down. It always helped suppress memories...

The bottle made a loud thud as he sat it on a table and took a seat. He was ready for whatever this woman, who seemed to have all of the answers, would tell him about it. He had leaned his rifle against the table.
