She is the niece of the current Fire Lord, which makes her a noblewoman of the Fire Nation. She has lived a good life in her family's home in the capitol and received training from a master firebender who taught her the secrets to using lightning as well as fire. Her brother Kazuru is a prominent Commander in the Fire Nation Navy and serves with her father on the Morning Star, a proud vessel that has served for many years.
