@Sigma I see an armored vehicle that would be good for the Pro Union UPC remnants, on my sheet (and a new addition), an older medium tank called the Davis. A1 and a2 models would be sold pretty cheap. I can throw up an aircraft too if you want.
@Brink_Hm, I had taken it that we were AT 1950's era tech with bits and pieces of retro futurism thrown in due to the odd way things developed post war. On the other point, it seems we agree on the basic concept of where civilization devolved but differ in our interpretation of how it progressed from there. See, I had thought a massive undefined event set us back so totally every polity disintegrated into warring tribes and most written information was lost. From there culture evolved by word of mouth even as people forgot the old world, leading to old concepts being bastardized and pre-disaster history becoming mythology. What I'd gleaned from the OP was that it had taken just over a millennium for us to work our way up to the RP and in that time we had a huge history where technology was largely forgotten or seen as magic until it's 'rediscovery' as science began to make sense of what remained allowing us to found the nations we have now.

I think we can find a consensus there though, I'm not too set in my ideas.

@Sigma No problem.

this is what I had imagined too.
@Monkeypants@Isotope Got a question, do the NAU and Casadia often sell military equipment? I ask because I was thinking the UPC remnants making use of a mix of NAU, local and Cascadian gear. Which in turn are looted by hostile rebels and grogar.

Well, the NAU would likely sell older weapons to pro-nau forces but wouldn't do anything high end just due to those reasons you list above.

<Snipped quote by Sigma>

I was gonna ask the same thing; mostly because actually West Lamonia would probably try to buy the equipment from other countries, with no great history of building non-specialised modern stuff themselves, and also because it would mean I could basically copy what other people are using, since I don't overwhelmingly know what I'm doing. :P

<Snipped quote by Isotope>

That's what I've been working to. I don't have a super-set chronology in mind, but mine is basically an accelerated version of iron age -> dieselpunk era. it's probably hugely inaccurate, but basically what I'm aiming for

In other news: more stuff is in my character sheet, including the Tank of Dubious Utility and Potential OoC Contention, and a good old college try at describing the other military stuff. Would anybody mind taking a glance at it and seeing whether what I have seems reasonable and point out any glaring omissions I've made. I've not even tried to describe land equipment, naval or air forces, because I straight-up don't know what I'm doing there.

In Subsequent Newb-News: what constitutes godmoding in an NRP? Like, obviously I couldn't say that another nation as a nation decided to declare war - but is each player in control of 100% of the citizens that belong to their nations (regardless of geographic location)? I'm gonna go see if there's an NRP guide in the articles section, to clarify stuff, but if anybody could give me an idea of what godmoding in this would look like, that might be really useful.

(thanks for dealing with my uncertainties)

This would be the same as sigma, either watered down or older weaponry would be freely sold. Just like the IRL America, it's still some of the highest quality stuff the NAU has but not -the- highest.

if that makes sense.
More monarchies!!!

Just wanna make sure ya'll understand there is only one king of the world,

@Jig now this isn't necessarily for this RP but if you ever get a chance to watch real pacific war footage from ww2 or Iraq war footage you can see sort of how modern combat works. (reason why I say pacific war for navy as that's as close as you'll get to modern navy warfare as we got.) its not like in games where machine gun > rifle or plane > tank, AA tank > plane, tank > AA tank.

Using the whole gangster 30's approach is a definite easy way to go about it and wouldn't clash at all with the lifestyle you portray your people to have. Also keep in mind that nations like a NAU value stability, see my above post as to why.. Mast grogar..)

Also, never devalue the power of treaties. Lets say you had a defensive pact with the NAU, an unprovoked attack on your nation would be a potential act of war. So not only would you have the Jodesian nation declaring war, but you'd have the NAU as well. Think NATO.

Now you can do that with any willing nation, I'm just using mine cause its easy to reference.

Oh my, another ns with many emphasis on "best of the best"..

Anyways, inkdrop, our nations relations. From the NAU viewpoint I can see securing peace with Atlantic powers being a must. They wouldn't give up a kidney for peace but there wouldn't be any real push for violence or conquest.

Stability is strongly desired, especially with the nasty grogar threat on the horizon.

Oh my. Mad max ftw.
I see your problem.

Some of those things are specific unit types. What you want is actual weapon types. Browse peoples stuff for ideas, ask individuals about stuff you're interested in.

And let me make sure you understand that you do not need super military knowledge for this RP. Its not stat based so there's nothing to worry about.
Jig, with military you have two options, go rogue and make all domestic weapons or integrate into the world community and purchase weapons from willing nations.

Look at how many nations fly American f16/15 and use the ak47.

And for your other question, I can see the nau being friendly towards jodesia. Look at the relationship with Francoiberia. Culture partners is always nice.
@Monkeypants Alrighty, got it all.

That's perfect! And with a direct border to jig, there's another potential for plots
