Jacque stumbled towards the temple in a less than graceful manner. A hangover from one to many pints of ale coupled with much less sleep than he would have liked left the man in poor shape as he held up his hand to shield his eyes from the rays of the sun. With the hand not being used to protect his eyes, Jacque began to slowly pat himself to make sure that he'd remembered to bring all op his belongings from the inn that he'd spent the night in. Herb pouch: Check. Short sword: Check. Dagger: Check. Bow: Check. Quiver and the twenty arrows that came with it? Jacque reached back awkwardly to count each arrow by giving them all a light tap. Yup. All arrows accounted for. Everything seemed to be accounted for, everything but... "Gods be damned, where did I leave my coin pouch. I could've sworn-". Jacque was cut off by a scratching on his right pants leg. The hunter looked down to find his partner Titan holding a small leather bag between his jaws. "Titan you really are my angel somedays." Jacque murmured before he removed his coin pouch from the lizard's jaws and gave it a scratch on the head.

After sparring a moment to tie the bag to his belt -easier said than done since he had to close one eye to keep the sunlight out-, Jacque entered the temple with Titan in tow, eager to find out how he'd play a role in recovering the missing pieces of the statue of Lazuli.
Roger that.
@Princess Mizuki Two questions: What sort of climates can we expect to encounter in this RP? And would animal companions be allowed so long as they were reasonable? I was toying with the idea of giving Jacque some sort of monitor lizard to act as a hunting/flushing dog, but that hinges on the answers I receive.

He stands at 187.96 centimeters tall and weighs approximately 84 kilograms

Name: Jacque Marrow
Age: 24
Talent: Archery
Birthmark: A patch of skin on his left breast that looks like a bite mark with a mole between the "jaws"

Power: Beast Mastery- Jacque is able to temporarily spiritually bind animals to himself in order to control them. The larger the animal or number of animals, the less time he has, and creatures that are in a frantic or hostile state of mind cannot be controlled if he has not already bound them. (to put it into perspective, a mouse or a finch can be controlled for say, a full day, but a bear would be controlled for half an hour at best)

History: Jacque's story is a pretty simple one: He was born into a family of extremely successful fur and spice traders, and as such was taught the tools of the trade from the moment he was deemed capable. Jacque took to his lessons well, however he found that his interests lied more with the hunting of beasts than it did with the trading of their pelts and meats. Upon reaching adulthood, Jacque chose to set out on his own, his goal being to become known as the greatest hunter in the land. For years Jacque honed his skills in the wilds that dotted the lands between the kingdoms, and had actually gained a small sliver of fame for his work. When he caught wind of the resurrection of Malo and the competition being held Jacque chose to enter believing that his skills might be useful in finding the missing pieces of the statue of Lazuli.

@Mage20GG And a happy 4th to you as well Mage
"O-oh." Dimitri muttered somewhat pathetically as he watched his partner head towards the door. The meister sat back in his chair and shook his head as he tried to figure his partner out. Even with his social ineptitude Dimitri knew that it wasn't quite normal to switch between concerned and indifferent so quickly, 'That girl's certainly an odd one. I hope she isn't bipolar.' He mused before cracking open his book and pulling out his phone to snap a few pictures of the pages he'd dog-eared, as well as a few of the map he'd grabbed.

A rumbling in Dimitri's stomach alerted him to his own hunger, eliciting a heavy sigh from him as he realized it wasn't the sort of hunger that would be solved with the candy in his pockets, that is unless he was willing to workout twice as hard when he got back to his apartment to burn off the extra sugar and empty calories. Dimitri straightened out the corners of the books he'd brought to the table and got up to set them and the map back in their correct spots before he jogged after his weapon to catch up.

Jacque grit his teeth in aggravation as he found himself having to go on the defensive to avoid being cut open by the female member of the duo. He jumped back just in time to feel the tip of the blade catch him, slicing open his shirt and leaving a nasty scar on his right breast. An honorable man would not have continued to fight from here, no, an honorable man would have just backed away rather than come to blows with a young girl. Jacque was not an honorable man. He was also not one to pull punches, especially after being wounded as Atticus' partner was about to find out

Using his free hand Jacque gripped the girl's sword hand and pulled her towards himself. The bounty hunter moved forward as he brought her towards him and drove his forehead straight into her nose. His assault didn't end there, rather than give his opponent time to recover Jacque released his grip and swept her feet out from under her before swiftly kneeling and planting his knee on her throat. He shifted his weight a bit so as not to crush her windpipe yet, but left just enough pressure to get his point across, "This is your one warning, you move or try to cast a spell and it's over. Don't test me.". Jacque made sure to pin down her sword arm before he dared to take his eyes off of the girl to look at Atticus, whom had moved quite a ways away much to his disquietude. Jacque could feel the trickle of blood running down his chest, clinging his shirt to his skin with its warm stickiness. The wound was throbbing with pain, and would probably need a good cleaning and a few stitches, which Jacque immediately took to mean more money being spent. "Unless you want to have to go searching for a new underling, I suggest you get back here!" Jacque snarled to Atticus, making no effort whatsoever to hide the malice in his tone.

I almost feel bad for what i'm about to have Jacque do, but considering his character, I wouldn't really expect him to act any other way. Atticus' partner might have just stepped into some serious shit now.

Realizing that hiding was no longer an option, Jacque stood tall and calmly dropped his quarry onto the ground beside him. He looked to the sky and quickly deduced that the rain was the work of one of the people ahead of him, which immediately put him in a bad mood considering his distaste for magic. 'Of all the people that had to be in my way, why in the name of every thing decent did it had to be some sort of Magus? Figures this would happen when I run out of solvent.' He mused irritably before he actually paid attention to what was being said. The bounty hunter shook his head, he then ran his hands back over his head to slick back his hair while staring down his nose at the two, "I'm guessing you folk think i'm working for the opposing forces, don't you. You may wanna try guessing again." he stated bluntly.

Jacque unshouldered his gun and examined it, clucking his tongue as water dripped from the weapon's surface, "You're right about the gun thing at though. We don't get a lot of rain in Swyn, so our weapons aren't really meant to deal with being soaked. That being said, thanks to one of you two, I can't just go to Payon to collect my money and supplies and rest for the night. No, now on top of the process of filling out the proper paper work to receive my pay for this guy, i've got to go and buy some extra gun cleaning solvent on top of my other supplies, and then sit down and strip, dry, and clean this thing in its entirety so i'm not just carrying around a really fancy looking rust filled club. Also, to add to this little predicament, rather than actually staying the night in a village with hotels that have hot food and beds, i'm going to have to immediately turn around and leave. And to add to that, i'm not only going to have to try and make it far enough away that I won't be caught in the crossfire but do it quickly enough that i'm not trying to set up my camp at night." He rumbled before shouldering the weapon again, this time on his opposite shoulder so that the barrel would point to the ground rather than upwards to avoid it being filled with rainwater, then slowly drew his bowie knife from the sheath tied to his belt. "As I said before, I don't care what happens to Payon, but if you've been keeping track, letting you go would create quite a few extra inconveniences for me. I think it'd just be easier to get rid of the two of you..

Barely a second after the word 'you' had left his mouth, Jacque lurched forward, sprinting at the two with a cold gleam in his eye and his lips pulled back tight into a tooth exposing snarl. The bounty hunter was by no means a practitioner of magic, but he'd hunted and fought plenty of magus' in his day. What where two more?

Jacque's brow quirked as he watched the people ahead of him pull out umbrellas of all things. The bounty hunter looked up at the sky, and, upon seeing no signs of rain, found himself utterly baffled by the action. The sky was clear, and the forest provided more than enough shade in the form of the countless leaves and branches that intertwined in the canopy.

He allowed himself to entertain his feelings of bewilderment for a little bit before he eventually decided that dwelling on the matter would just be a waste of valuable time. Jacque didn't particularly care whether or not his bounty died, after all, the amount of money he received would still be the same so long as the thief's identity could be verified. What he did care about was the fact that he'd be lugging a corpse around if the thief did indeed slip away on his watch, and that wasn't exactly something he enjoyed having to do, if not because of the onset of rigor mortis, than for the simple fact that the body tended to void itself shortly after death. "Jesus people, speed it along already, i've got places to go." Jacque muttered somewhat balefully as he continued to creep behind the duo at a snail's pace.
