As someone who works for a pet store I both love and hate pixar. The next person that tries to ask me if we have "a dory fish" for their goldfish bowl is getting straight up clubbed like a baby seal

Bio

I'm just a simple college student working his way through life while simultaneously testing the limits of how much caffeine and alcohol the human body can subsist on before it gives out. Just call me Shade.

Name: Dimitri Collins
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Appearance: - He stands at roughly 6'4" and weighs 91kg. His taste in clothing is pretty average, though he does have a preference for t-shirts, cargo pants, and boots.

History: Dimitri's life was a bit of a rough and tumble one: The youngest of three siblings growing up in a small house in Rockhill South Carolina, Dimitri was taught from an early age how to fight or flee to keep hold of what was his. His parents couldn't afford much with their current jobs, typically making only enough to keep a roof over everyone's heads and food in their stomachs. Luxuries such as vacations, television, and even new clothing were often ignored in favor of keeping the power and water running. As could be expected the lack of luxuries created a bit of a gap between Dimitri and most of his peers, and Dimitri suffered more than his fair share of bullying all throughout grade school and partially into his first year of high school. Things changed rather rapidly once he hit puberty and Dimitri began towering over his classmates. They changed even more when Dimitri decided to join the school's boxing club and start using what he'd learned to get a bit of payback on the people that had mocked him in the past. After several suspensions and a near expulsion for instigating fights with and occasionally mugging other students, Dimitri found himself diving on a downward spiral into the life of a criminal. He started running with small time gangs in his sophomore year, and by the time he'd graduated, skewed college in favor of continuing with what he thought was the path to easy money. He hopped from state to state for a bit, falling in and out of all sorts of gangs until he found himself recruited by the Syndicate with the promise of a lifetime of riches.

Skills:
  • Brawler- A childhood packed with fights allows him to compensate for the fact that he only has a few years of actual lessons under his belt. A skilled fighter who can take a hit as well as he can give one, Dimitri likes to dominate his opponents with his sheer size and ferocity, pressing the attack while shrugging off anything short of a blow to a vital area or an attack with a weapon.
  • Sheer strength- He's strong and durable, more accustomed to lifting and carrying heavy loads.
  • Intimidation- A rather imposing individual, Dimitri can be made to strong arm others in order to produce favorable outcomes
  • Minor Gang connections- His runs with several minor gangs has given Dimitri a small network for street info and favors
  • Short to mid range fire arm usage- Dimitri understands how to use handguns and shotguns
  • Grand Theft- Dimitri can hot wire a car if need be.

Flaws:
  • Limited Education- Dimitri only has a high school level education. He's not stupid, but he's not exactly someone to come up with a complex plan
  • Arrogant- The fact that he rarely loses a fight or has to deal with people contesting him has given Dimitri an misplaced sense of self-importance. It doesn't really affect his ability work too badly, but it does mean that he can underestimate people on a regular basis. It can also put a strain on his relationship with those he works with unless they can find a way to deflate his ego. Beating him in a fist fight is the easiest way of doing so. Blackmail also works.
  • Gang Rivalries- The door swings both ways. For all of the friends that he's made in gangs Dimitri has made just as many enemies. Rival gang members are still more than willing to take a shot at him, as are those from previously friendly gangs that believe that he's betrayed them
  • Terrible driver- Ironically Dimitri has almost no experience with driving due to a lack of driving lessons
  • Acrophobia- Dimitri has a crippling fear of heights. He shuts down if forced into high places where he can see the ground below him.

Vices: Dimitri is an alcoholic.
Occupation: Manual labor jobs mostly, drug and weapon running back when he was still with other gangs.
Theme Song:Travi$ Scott - The Prayer

I'm willing to accept Monsi.

@Wisp
I'd actually prefer to leave the actual orientation bit left out to avoid metagaming for the sake of character romance, as well as to allow things to progress a bit more naturally between characters.
@Dracogenius Not a problem. Don't sweat the spelling, it happens. You can honestly just refer to me as Shade like everyone else does.

@Wisp

Also, curses are supposed to be something you fear. Don't matter who you are, what your race is, or what you believe in; If you're walking home and an old gypsy lady starts running at you and screaming incoherently with some weird bottle or liquid or powder in her hand your first thought is likely going to be to run. Oh sure, first you'll do it because she's about to pelt you with a glass bottle filled with unknown substances, but after that you know damn well it's because she's probably trying to curse you.

Terra, Mother Gaia, The World, Earth. The planet of man was one with many names, each as diverse as the creatures that inhabited it. It was only too bad that it's diversity was not without limitations. Limitations such as space and resources. Everyone knew that, but few knew it quite as well as the soldiers that fought for what little remained of the dying planet. Soldiers like Dimitri Collins. He'd grown up learning about the blue planet, how it's inhabitants descended into all out war.
Not many knew exactly what caused the third World War; some believed it was over religious differences, some because of territorial disputes, and others believed it was because there was simply no more space and sustenance to go around. Dimitri considered himself to be a part of that third group, though it hardly mattered now. In just a few short moments the planet earth and all of it's troubles would be long behind him. In a few moments, Dimitri would have a chance to start fresh

Dimitri was snapped from his daze by the familiar rapid clunking that was boots against a hard floor. The commander was apparently less than pleased with the idle behavior of the others, and he was only too eager to make this displeasure known. Dimitri kept his mouth firmly shut as the commander continued to heckle and demean the others. Even when you were no longer military the rules stayed the same wherever you went. When your C.O. talked, you shut up and listened unless spoken to. Everyone other soldier and security officer seemed to have the same mindset. Everyone else bar one.

Dimitri leaned over from his seated position as one of the younger members on board saw fit to call the commander out on his hypocritical nature. It took Dimitri a few seconds to recognize the guy because of the masks or helmets that everyone wore, but the word going around was that the guy took part in the colonization effort to prove something to his family. Dimitri wasn't all too sure whether it was true or not, but he felt for the kid a bit, especially if the rumor was actually true. The commander obviously did not share Dimitri's empathy. In fact, he looked about three seconds away from hitting the kid for his comment, and that simply would not do.
Dimitri wasn't stupid- he knew that if he tried to physically stop the commander he could either be shipped back to earth or imprisoned for an unspecified amount of time, such was the nature of the ranking system. Thankfully there were other ways to stop the commander without getting violent. Dimitri bolted up from his seat and stood at parade rest as he'd done so many times before, the action causing his dog tags to clink together softly on his chest. For a moment he looked at Kai, the younger man's reflection visible on Dimitri's visor for a split second before Dimitri's head snapped forward, "Sir! Permission to speak freely!" he barked curtly.

Name _ Dimitri Collins
Age _31
Race _Human
Sexuality_ Heterosexual

Skills_

  • CQC adept: Dimitri is a brutally efficient and highly adaptable fighter when it comes to a physical brawl after having been trained to use mixed martial arts during his time serving as a soldier back on earth
  • Fire arm proficiency: Dimitri is experienced in the usage and maintenance of several different types of firearms.
  • Survivalist: Being from earth, Dimitri is accustomed to having to eek out a living in terrible conditions. He can get by on little sustenance and rest, though his performance gradually suffers as time goes on.
  • Basic Medical knowledge: Like many soldiers Dimitri is trained in basic first aid; He can make a splint, set a bone, and suture/bind minor wounds. In the end however he's still not a replacement for an actual medical practitioner

Personality (Can be vague)_ A tired and somewhat paranoid and depressed man worn down both mentally and physically from his time spent on earth. Dimitri is a quiet and reserved man who, despite not really minding being in the company of others, often prefers to keep to himself during his down time. In spite of his generally inoffensive nature, Dimitri is a soldier first and foremost and will carry out any orders he receives with little to no complaints or hesitation.

History (Optional)_ There isn't really a lot to say about Dimitri: He grew up on the war ravaged planet Earth and was drafted into the armed forces once he reached eighteen, serving as active duty until he reached the age of twenty five. For the next few years Dimitri tried to reintegrate himself into civilian society as best he could, however the time he spent in the service had changed him. He'd become paranoid it increasingly difficult to hold down a job and relate to any of his peers. For a while Dimitri began to believe that his only option was to reenlist and risk being thrown into yet another series of fire fights, sleepless nights spent wondering if he'd ever live to see the next day. It was with the discovery and attempt at colonization of the planet Lazulis that Dimitri's beliefs changed. Thinking that he would, at most, be protecting colonists from the local wildlife while they worked, Dimitri signed up for a security detail and was shipped out on one of the first scouting ships. It all seemed to be looking up for Dimitri until the ship crashed...

Other (Optional)_ Dimitri is a chronic smoker, a habit he picked up around his third year of service. Whenever that helmet comes off you can expect a cigarette or a cigar to be making an appearance soon.

Trying to get new blood adjusted to the site? Nothing wrong with that. Been meaning to take part in a RP like this at some point.

I'm still really on the fence about whether or not I should make a monarch for Gabriel to help out. There are just three (and a half) issues that are stopping me currently. The first is that i've always been better a playing characters that are either grunts or second in command types rather than head honchos. The second is that it'd eventually get confusing for me to continue to switch between the kingdoms of Raphael and Michael whenever I alternated between the king and Cain. I'd switch out the kingdoms that Cain serves, but that brings me to issue 3.5, which is the fact that Raphael would be comprised of nothing but King Valentine and a ton of NPCs, and the fact that the driving force for Cain's loyal service is that he thinks that if he helps Raphael end the war as initially planned that he can get his curse removed.
@Dracogenius I'm here, just watching quietly while I wait for things to get rolling IC.

>it makes people more likely to "PLAYER KNOWLEDGE" the RP. Things that players know, that characters shouldn't.

If I might jump in here for a bit; The term you're looking for here is "metagame" or in this case "metagaming", which is indeed a very serious issue for roleplays, especially on freeform sites, along with power gaming. I would encourage you to pm either Draco or Wisp in regards to further figuring the limitations of your character's powers so as to avoid someone suddenly having their character "conveniently" find a way around you character's abilities.

As for the mentokinesis bit, while it does fit well with your character concept it's a bit of an overkill to have it be effective outright even outside of the kingdom of Lucifer. One of the common beliefs of mind control and other telekinetic and telepathic abilities is that the powers themselves are completely dependent on the willpower and mental fortitude of the user and the object said powers are being used on. A telepath could easily sway some average schmuck on the street if said schmuck isn't prepared for a mental tug of war, but let's say that the telepath tried using their abilities on a hardened fighter: The fighter might not have quite the same level of mental fortitude as the telepath, but he's likely going to have good deal of willpower which can present a challenge, but isn't impossible. The fighter's lack of mental fortitude makes them a tad easier to wrest control of, but that high willpower means that they can still resist to some extent, and that even the slightest lapse in concentration might be all that they need to break free

Now, let's say we have a telepath try their abilities on a telekinetic with high mental fortitude but low willpower, again it'd be a challenge, maybe even more so than the fighter because the telekinetic understands the mind a bit better, but this too can be overcome with enough effort. The telekinetic's mental fortitude makes them a much more complex target and definitely draws out the time needed to ensnare them, but the lack of willpower means that the telepath can rest a bit easier than they could with the fighter.

tl;dr

Willpower = Harder to control but easier to ensnare.
Mental Fortitude = Harder to ensnare but easier to control.

Not to say that you character shouldn't be nigh impossible to resist in his own home, just that it should be a little bit harder for him to work his magic outside of Lucifer.
