The Fighting Fathers: An Alternate History RPG

There were many places within the Executive Branch that Ulysses S. Grant enjoyed. He appreciated the library's alternate computer simulation program. Which allowed him the opportunity to fight different wars. He re-fought the Civil War on the South's side and won, and also re-fought the Vietnam War and this time America won. However the other room Grant enjoyed was the gym in the sub-basement. Grant didn't care for the modern equipment or any of that on the second level he liked being able to keep things simple. The boxing ring allowed him many opportunities to spar which Grant loved doing early in the morning and there was always one person who gave him a good fight.

As a rule there were few others in the Executive Branch who could go toe to toe with Ulysses S. Grant with one possible exception Dwight D. Eisenhower. Eisenhower was gifted with the ability of second sight meaning he could see things before they happen. Which gave him the ability to counter Grant on many occasions, but that didn't always mean victory because Grant usually needed just one solid shot to send Eisenhower down to the canvas. The trick though was finding the right moment and the right opening. On this day the two former Presidents had been fighting for hours and both men were soaked in sweat as they moved around a dimly lit boxing ring.

Eisenhower said, "You read to give old-timer. This Kansas farmboy has been working on some new moves and now is the time to end this."

Grant snorted and said, "Shut up and fight Ike."

Eisenhower motioned for Grant to step forward and said, "Come an get some U-S!"

Grant started to move in and then backed out as Eisenhower lunged forward. When he did Grant then pivoted and landed a glancing blow on Eisenhower's mid section to which Grant said, "Gotta keep an eye on that flank Ike."

Eisenhower recovered quickly and landed a solid shot in Grant's chest. Hits like that didn't hurt Grant in the least but he would have to roll with the punch otherwise Ike could break his hand. Grant started a counter attack, but then there was the summons issued by Roosevelt.

Grant and Eisenhower both dropped the guards and immediately took of their gloves. Eisenhower would be needed in the ops center right away and Grant would need to be at the meeting.

Eisenhower asked, "Same time tomorrow?"

Grant nodded and replied, "Of course."

The two men shook hands and said at the same time, "Well played sir."

Grant was on his way for his meeting as Ike made his way to the ops center.

Occupation: Special Agent assigned to the JPD

Personality: Kevin is dedicated to his job and making sure that the rules are followed (but that doesn’t mean he won’t bend one every so often in the pursuit of justice). He has seen to many criminals walk out of a court room on technicalities and it crushes him when it does. Kevin is not above being physical when it comes to the job, but he won’t allow that to override his judgment. He believes in forming bonds and being loyal to those that he works with, because in a tough situation they are all you got to count on. Kevin possesses a razor sharp wit that he uses as often as a truck driver uses their driver’s license.

Kevin though is not obsessed with his job though. He cares very much for his children, and despite the fact that they’re divorced he still loves Anne. Kevin is a sports fan and finds his release from the stress of the job through working out. He is also a practicing Roman Catholic and his Faith and Beliefs help form the core of who he is, but he’ll be the first to admit he does have a hypocrisy streak that shows up from time to time and won’t force his religious beliefs on others.

History: Kevin McBride was a graduate of the FBI (class of 1999) and took to his job as a field agent like a fish to water. Rising up through the ranks and while he was in the agency he met Anne Wilton who worked in the records department. The two fell in love, got married, and had two children. Kevin was one of the top agents especially when it came to their gun running operations and was on his way up to an administrative post until one arrest changed everything.

Kevin and those under his command were taking down a major gun running operation, and one of the key figures was Darren Stenson. Darren’s father was Senator Eric Stenson a very powerful person in the American Political Landscape. He tried to “encourage” Kevin to look the other way concerning his son, but Kevin would hear nothing of it and Darren was convicted on 9 felony counts including the attempted murder of a Federal Agent (Kevin).

Senator Stenson vowed to make Kevin pay for what he did. The stress of the hearings into an alleged mishandling of the case, Stenson leading the charge for budgetary cut-backs and an investigation into the FBI began to take a toll on Kevin’s career. The stress became too much and Kevin was ready to resign, but his supervisor Lamar Wilkins had an idea. He was close friends with the Mayor of Justice Andrea Valens. In the city of Justice, California there was a new and violent gang taking hold led by Brian Jagielski and another family that no one seems to have a fix on. She appealed to her friend Lamar for help, and Lamar helped her and the Police Administration create the Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force on Organized Crime and had Kevin stationed in the MCU. Lamar saw this as way to not only help out an old friend and to save Kevin’s career, but with him all the way in California Senator Stenson wouldn’t be able to hurt his career anymore. Kevin was to be the liaison between the FEDS and the Police, to assist where needed by Captain Tryner, and answers only to Commissioner Callen, but Kevin views Tryner as his superior and will rarely if ever pull the "I'm not really one of yours so I don't have to listen to you" card and respects her authority. Kevin realizes he screws up here that his career is over so he doesn't want to anger the Captain. Kevin is classified as being undercover with his cover being that of a journalist. Only The Mayor, Tryner, and Callen know his true identity
