You do you know if you don't try? If you try and succeed...awesome! If you try and you don't succeed...at least you didn't let fear and doubt dictate your actions...

Never mind nothing to see here...move along.
Reid followed quickly behind Tryner and though she talked a tough game there was no doubt in his mind that Tryner was more than capable of backing it up as well.

There were so many things that he wanted to say already about the current situation, and so many questions he wanted to ask. However at this point with everyone's nerves on edge and the dynamic of the Mayor's son unaccounted for now was not the time to play the role of obnoxious reporter. Although there were several points McBride was hoping that Tryner had already picked up on.

First where was the kid's security detail? In a city like this with as many enemies as the Mayor has in addition to organized crime lords this kid should've had some kind of detail nearby even out of the way. Second the child was the target the whole time. This is the place where no one else would even dream of attacking unless they knew what was going on. Third this was designed to send a message because otherwise why not just grab any kid unless you already knew who you were going for. Lastly yes the gunman was gunned down, but he could've been the diversion he goes in shooting up the place and someone else slips in and does the job.

Reid realized that his points and theories could be a million miles of base which was another reason why he kept his mouth shut. He was just basing his hypothesis off of his previous experience and he knew full well that every town had it's own norms and the way things work, but the Mayor's kid is a high profile target too high profile to just be chalked up to coincidence.

Just listening to Tryner Reid knew he was dealing with someone who knew the score. The JPD was probably screwing up everything without the forensics team getting there in a timely manner. However there was one thing Reid knew for sure; if this was done to send a message there would be one thing he always heard called "the odd sock" that would stand out to deliver the message. It's when one is looking in a sock drawer and there is one sock that stands out in a sea of others like a black sock in a sea of navy blue socks. If they found their odd sock on the scene that would mostly like give them a clue to work off of. It would have to be something that hopefully Tryner was looking for as well. However if Reid spotted it he wouldn't be above just pointing out an option to Tryner. Reid noted to himself to eventually get Tryner's cell number so he could text her if he saw anything.

As they moved along Reid swallowed his gum and said, "Yes Ma'am."

Well the thing here is that this is not a "superpower" game. Think of your character more in terms of "what you are" than "what you can do.

Fair enough. Got one. PM sent.
I remember when AOL was it...and I was happy with a dial up modem...until I was introduced to DSL...and then Cable!
You said it was set in the 1980's...I was a teen during those years so could give me a rough idea as to what year it was...it'll help with my CS...in terms of my power I'm thinking either invisibility or telekinesis.

Once someone else gets another post up in the IC I'll post my next McBride/Reid .
This one has my interest. Expect a CS with sample within the next 24 hours.

We'll leave a marker where we once were. Just Kidding I am sure that we are in excellent hands.
Robin heard the Sergeant's speech and paid attention to every word that was being said to her; on the outside. On the inside she was doing everything she could to keep from rolling her eyes. Robin grew up on Primitus and had made it through a good portion of basic training before her accident which forced her to have to repeat basic training all over again. Normally she would've been dismissed but the military was impressed with her and felt she had what it took to make a fine soldier. Besides this was to see if Robin was truly over her accident if nothing else, Not to mention growing up in the military Robin knew things about it that the normal person would never understand. That a lot of the talk from the Sergeants was just that; talk. They couldn't touch them at all and Robin knew this because the night before she joined her father told her all the secrets that Robin would need to know in order to survive.

That's not to say that Robin didn't respect those in authority over her. While Robin realized that she knew more than the average person and had been through a lot of this before not listening to a superior was the surest way of getting killed. There were those times laying in the hospital bed recovering from her accident Robin replayed the accident to see if there was anything she had missed in terms of instruction or anything like that. The Review Board cleared her and the family of the Sergeant who died with Robin didn't blame her for what happened, but there were those times still to this day that bothered Robin. In the quiet of the night there were moments where she'd wake up in a state of panic and fear, but Robin did everything she could to move past it.

Robin looked at her pack and left it where it was on the shuttle and stepped off of the shuttle while she looked around. She remembered this place from not necessarily from her first time in basic, but when her father brought her up when she was 16. Robin wanted to be in the military but her father was hoping that seeing the harsh life of a recruit would give her second thoughts. That plan didn't work out as well because it only increased her desire to join up. When Robin was 6 she threw a tantrum when her parents wouldn't let her get a crew cut, so it was safe to say that the military was in Robin's blood.

Robin gave a slight head shake with a smile and said, "Welcome home Robin." With that Robin began to head towards the barracks at a slow jogging pace.
