You do you know if you don't try? If you try and succeed...awesome! If you try and you don't succeed...at least you didn't let fear and doubt dictate your actions...

And the undercover guy has posted.
Tryner, or Lauren as Jason was allowed to call her, was giving Jason a brief welcome as it were to the department. She had read his profile, and she was looking for help if he saw anything he was to let her know.

Reid had read her profile as well.Lauren was better than good at being a cop she was excellent, and woe be to the one mistook her youth for inexperience or being naive. She impressed McBride to the point that if he was looking for a partner back in DC she would be the first person McBride would call without a second thought. Lauren did a good job of trying to see the parallels to another case a few years back. It pained him when she spoke about another agency swooping, because there had been on more than one occasion he was the one swooping in and taking a case away from the DC-PD. He hated doing it but like them McBride was out to get the bad guys, and the fact that he had better resources and a bigger budget usually meant he got his way. McBride always made sure that the FBI's PR division always went out of their way in emphasizing the work between them and the DC-PD.

Just then she made the motion for Reid to fall back with "No press allowed." He nodded and said, "I'll get crowd reactions."

Reid milled about the crowd asking very general and safe questions in the crowd. The whole time he was holding his phone at an angle so as to video as much as possible. What exactly was he looking for Reid wasn't sure, but he had an idea on things to look for since the shooter was already dead. Something this big though no way this was the work of one lone gunman just on a shooting spree. This was something bigger than that McBride had seen enough cases to know that. Again what was he looking for? Maybe someone on their cell-phone looking in one area, someone off to the side looking at the chaos and taking it all in, or someone just looking around like they were expecting something else. Usually he would shoot this video back to his pal Eddie in tech at the Bureau and he'd have a working profile up and running within two hours. However this wasn't DC and Reid/McBride wasn't allowed to phone home as it were. Besides if anyone got his phone and saw lots of numbers to DC showing up it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who he was. The AP line wouldn't hold water for very long so in this case McBride had to do an impression of Eddie and come up with something. Very quickly Reid did some cut & paste & added other words from his smart phone which sent his story to the AP. If nothing else he knew Lamar would see it and know that McBride was already working the scene with the MCU.

Jason stopped playing the "good reporter" bit when he saw Lauren again and the look on her face said follow me. Reid caught up to her and she told him if he saw anything to let her know. Reid said in a very hushed voice, "I already sent you a video e-mail of the crowd outside. I figure at some point you and I might be able to break it down. Something this big and as slow as the police were to respond no way this was just a lone shooter. The mastermind whoever that is I'll bet a year's alimony is still here, or at least who knows who the big name behind all this is."

I'm sorry, I named Holden's mother Alice, totally forgetting that Nick's mother's name was Alice. I'll change that. ._.

Don't worry it's not like there's a copyright on the name. You don't have to...you can if you want though...it's not an issue to me.
Nick sat in the back of the limo although for someone riding in a limo he was far from relaxed. One he was in a limo Nick was gonna rent a car to get to the station, but his boss had his limo pick him up. Two wearing a suit and tie wasn't the most comfortable thing he owned. He wanted to be in a pair of Nikes, blue jeans and his favorite Batman T-Shirt. Lastly he was the new kid in school in terms of being at WXQR the awkward adjustment phase and so on. The one thing he was looking forward to was seeing Jason & Holden again. It had been a couple of years since he saw them and they were two of the best friends he ever had. If it wasn't for them Nick would've never made it through the break up with Jennifer in college. Sure they e-mailed, facebooked, and skyped every so often and played Fantasy Football on line but living with them was on a whole different scale. Not to mention he had to admit it; he missed his mom.

Nick took in the skyline of Miami and was just in awe of everything. Yeah he had seen DC more than a few times, but those were Government Buildings and things that always showed up on tourist shows. This city had a whole different vibe and energy that Nick had never felt before.

Just then the limo driver buzzed the intercom and said, "We're approaching the Fleming Building Mr. Dawson."

Nick just looked at the intercom and then pushed a button and said, "Thank you, and it's Nick please you say Mr. Dawson I'm expecting to see my dad and he's been dead for over 16 years. Thank you."

The limo came to a stop and within a matter of seconds the driver was opening the door. Nick got out with a folder in hand and looked around and shook his head. He said, "We are not in Kansas anymore Toto."

The driver chuckled when he said that and Nick looked back at him. He said, "Oh sorry I don't know how much to tip you. I ummmm....."

The driver said with a smile, "No tip is necessary Nick. My name is A-J welcome to Miami." The two men shook hands and A-J said, "Lighten up Nick you already got the job. Just enjoy it now."

Nick smiled for the first time since he set foot in Miami and said, "Thank you A-J." A-J tipped his cap to Nick and said, "Go on in and knock 'em dead. I'll be here when Mr. Silva calls to come and get you."

Nick nodded and headed into the office building that seemed to tower over the rest of the city. He approached the front desk and the security guard looked up and Nick said, "Hi Nick Dawson here to see Bob Covington of WXQR." Just then someone was right next to Nick and said, "Well nice to finally put a face to the name." Nick looked over at a gentleman with white hair and a goatee in a blue t-shirt black jeans and biker boots. He stick his hand out and said, "Bob Covington nice to see you Nick. Just call me Bob-O."

Nick returned the handshake and said, "Nice to finally meet you to Bob-O."

Bob-O said, "That's your paperwork I'm assuming,"

Nick replied, "Yeah got all the tax forms filled out and all that jazz." Bob-O motioned for him to give him the files. Once Nick did he gave them to the security guard and said, "Call Jeanine in H-R tell her get cracking on processing these forms a-s-a-p."

The Security Guard nodded and began to make his phone call. Bob-O motioned to Nick and said, "Come on let's go introduce you to the rest of the crew," The two men walked to the elevator and began their ride to the 25th floor. Bob-O said with his head shaking, "Nice suit and tie," Nick looked and said, "Well I'm just trying to make...." Bob-O interrupted and said, "a good first impression. Nick you got the job already no need for that stuff. One thing we pride ourselves on in this place besides doing the best job that we can for a more than generous and gracious owner is to be ourselves." Bob-O looked at Nick closely and said, "So the first chance you get lose the suit and put your earring back in."

The elevator doors opened and the two men exited as a beautiful auburn haired receptionist said, "Bob-O Mr. Silva said he'd be here in the next ten minutes to talk with Nick for a few moments. He's on his way to Dallas for final negotiations with Mr. Arronson about next season."

Bob-O nodded and said, "Okay thanks Emily." Emily looked at Nick and said, "Welcome to WXQR Nick. Don't be afraid to dress down." Nick replied with a smile, "Thank you. I'll try to remember that."

The next few moments were spent with Bob-O showing Nick around the studios, the offices, and the production rooms explaining to him how things were done at WXQR until they finally ended up in Bob-O's office. Bob-O opened up a mini-fridge and asked, "Care for a drink?"

Nick replied, "Bottled water if you got it." Bob-O got him his water and motioned for Nick to have a seat. Nick sat down and Bob-O said, "Okay Nick gave you the ins & outs of this place now for some unwritten rules. One Mr Silva is a gracious and good man. If he believes in you he will back you all the way, but don't mistake his kindness for weakness. I've seen him destroy careers of people who were in this business for 10+ years. Two Mike Brooks the midnight guy he thinks he should've gotten your job and our intern Michelle Springer should've gotten his job. They're seeing one another and Mike is a snake in the grass he's gunning for my job. Although he doesn't know that I know about that or that he's covering for a lot of Michelle's mistakes in the production room. I can't prove it all yet but when I do he's gone and so is she, but don't worry about it stay close to me and I'll watch your back. We keep him here because he does a good job but sooner or later that talent is gonna write a check he can't cash. Lastly kinda told you this one but I'll repeat it; be yourself. I liked your air-check tape your references were solid. We want you here not an impression."

Nick took a gulp of his water and said, "I won't let you down Bob-O."

Just then there was a knock at the door and Bob-O said, "It's open." In walked a middle aged gentleman wearing an Armani suit and slicked back hair. Bob-O stood up and Nick did as well. The gentleman with a thick Italian accent said, "I hope I'm not interrupting anything." He turned to Nick and stuck his hand out and said, "Fred Silva nice to meet you Nick."

Nick replied, "Likewise sir." Silva said, "It's Fred your part of the crew now. Welcome to Miami. Sorry I have to keep this brief I'm on my way to Dallas we're about to complete a deal to become the flagship station for The Miami Heat for the next decade."

Nick replied, "Wow sounds like a great time to be here."

Silva said, "I like to believe so, but I'm slightly biased." He chuckled and looked to Bob-O and said, "Checked the logs they look good, and we're a go for the spring training reports for the Marlins so go ahead and start running them tomorrow."

Bob-O replied, "You got it Fred."

Silva said, "All-right you got the store for the next two weeks. Use your best judgement I trust you Bob-O." He turned back to Nick and said, "Again nice to meet you Nick welcome to the family. we'll talk more when I get back. Have a good one gentlemen."

Silva left and Bob-O said, "Okay first week here you're gonna do the production stuff get your feet wet that kind of thing. Next week you'll be working with Dave Lee on mid-days get people used to you, and then you're on your own."

Nick said, "Gotcha Bob-O." After few moments of small talk Bob-O and Nick made their way back to the elevator. Nick entered the lobby and security gave him his parking pass and security card. The limo was waiting for him and Nick got back in on his way to his new apartment. Luckily the apartment was nearby so he could walk to work, but Nick made a note to go out and get a car later. First thing was first though seeing everyone and setting up his room in the apartment. All his stuff was shipped down a few days earlier and Nick was already planning out how everything was going to look. Now Nick was really smiling as the Limo arrived at the apartment. Nick got out, grabbed his luggage and headed into his new home.
No complaints from me..I got Mondays off anyway so this works nicely for me. Hope your day is going great & looking forward to your reply. Gotta feeling the next couple of posts are about to get interesting.

The Surgery Department was the most competitive of all the departments in the hospital. Dr. Richards the chief surgeon was a great surgeon, but now he was about 3 years past his prime and not many people had the guts to call him on it, and those that did found themselves dealing with a power mad has-been. It was only a matter of time before the board stepped in and the inside word was the job was Scott's to lose, but Bosworth was starting to make a name for herself. Not a lot was known about her personal life or what she did before she came to the hospital, but there was no denying her talent. Scott would never say it publicly but if he lost out to Bosworth he would be okay with it actually. For all her business first and at times lack of being in on all the jokes around the department Scott respected Sara's skill because watching her work was like watching a bird take flight or an artist paint. It was watching something that was meant to happen in nature and there were no words necessary to describe what was going on.

He listened to Sara's instructions to monitor the vitals and all he said was, "You got it." Scott knew this was Sara's operation and to usurp her authority would not only make him look like a bully, but Richards would get wind of it and if that happened it was all but assured that Sara would be crushed by him. Scott wasn't about to let that would-be Napoleon run over Sara. Not out of a sense of friendship or loyalty to Sara, but the fact that Scott couldn't stand Richards and Sara had things well in hand at this time.

He heard her make his quip about singing a bit more and even Scott had to smile at that. He shrugged his shoulders and said, "It was the only thing I could think of at the time." Scott looked around the O-R and said, "Someone go get me the words to 'Blue Hawaii' in case I need them."

Scott began to survey the vitals and said, "Vitals are good and strong and within normal limits." He looked over at the scan results and said, "Be careful. Looks like there's embolism just beneath the cerebellum. If that thing ruptures Kristy will be having conversations with oatmeal."

Scott looked back to Sara and said, "You got this all the way Dr. Bosworth." He looked back at the nurse and said, "Bring me her chart." Scott scanned it quickly and said with great sarcasm, "Terrific." He looked back at Sara and said, "This one is Richards' patient and he left for the day without going over anything else." Scott shook his head said, "100 to 1 he comes storming in here after you're finished, and does everything to make you the villain in all this." Sara vs Nelson Richards would be a slaughter for Sara's standing in the hospital, but Kelly said, "I'll back you up all the way, I promise"

Scott could excuse a lot of things but incompetence that nearly led to a death wasn't one of them. He knew it was time to take Richards down, and he also sensed this would be a good chance to get to know Sara better. He was convinced there was a shared interest in not only surgery, but science as well. There was a project he was being recruited for and he thought Sara might be a good person to bounce things off of.
