Natsume didnt push ryu as far as he would have liked butit gave her enough distance to react to his next attack. Two strikes from the same direction it seemed. The kunai would have to be used to block the blade leaving the lower sheath strike. So this timTe she stepped to the right and kicked off in that direction. He was moving in a straight line so he would have to stop and turn to attack again. It would be a close call but she lobbed her kunai in the air. And weaved several handsigns. Ryus nearest strike grazed her in the side but it wasnt bad at all. She caught her kunai and stepped in for a strike of her own. It was her turn to go on the offensive. Her strike was aimed at his nearest shoulder but was easily blockable by either of his weapons.

Natsume watched Ryu closely. Given that the swords name was swift she assumed that he was a speed type, although she would have to wait to confirm that. When he took his stance she noticed his footing, he was taking the sandy terrain into account. That was impressive and so was the speed he attacked her with. Her response was to step towards him quickly. Infighting would be her advantage at the moment if, and only if she could get under his guard. His two handed style posed a threat but she was not dismayed. Stepping in she crossed her arms, so that the kunai would block the incoming blade and the other hand would still be on guard. If she had a second kunai, and enough experience that could have turn into a finishing blow but she didnt so she spun with Ryus momentum as soon as the sword connected, pushing herself against him and pushing out with the guard arm to push him away from her. the Sand beneath her feet stole some of the momentum from the push because of the footing but it should have done the same to him if his feet were firmly planted. Natsume took a step back into her stance once more. for the brief instant that she was close to him she noticed something strange to her, he was warm.
Sage just waited quietly for his turn paying attention to what was going on.

Natsume appreciated the modesty from her teammate. She stood up off the tree and considered the proposal. "sure" the disadvantage seemed to be hers given that when she reached for her weapon she drew only a kunai. Not the best weapon for a sword but it was what she had, there wasnt a reason to waste any other weapon or tools either. she spun the blade around her finger before leveling it in an reverse grip infront of her neck in her dominant hand. Her other hand floated about two inches behind the kunai. she crouched into a set stance and waited for Ryu. Him having a sword would probably put her on the defensive most likely and she probably wouldn't get much opportunities to weave handsigns. She knew it would be interesting but she would have to make every move carefully

The last breath. She hadnt heard of it. She would look into it. Reading was something she enjoyed so a new book would be something of interest to. She noticed her teammate turn towards her but she did not return his gaze. Instead she looked at his sword. "Are you any good with...Swift was it?" There was a 50/50 chance he would take that as a challenge to spar but that wasnt actually how she had ment it. But anything beat waiting around doing nothing. What could go wrong? Thats what teammates did right?

When her new teammate turned around and sat down she listened to what he was saying. She wasnt telling her anything she didn't already know so she understood his point. That was all well and good but the problem was usually two fold but she had no plans of arguing with him. It was still new to her that she was spoken to so casually. the Smooth silence eventually filled the air between them as well. She leaned against a tree and they waited for their last team member to appear. She actually thought about what he has said to her for a while. " snow on the ocean" she answered in reference to the question about her favorite book. She looked away from him though, back to the foggy mist that continues to drift over the water. hopefully their team mate showed up before the tide came in.
Sage actually knew how to do that but he kept it to himself. chances were the way the man meant wasnt the way Sage was thinking anyway. So Sage lined up without a word
When Sage heard the bell he hurried to put his robe back on and rushed to the class room. he wasnt expecting a regular person to be teaching but honestly he was relieved. regardless of who the man was, he wasnt an elemental which meant the experience would be much more different. that change of pace was the distraction Sage needed for a little bit

Shinji closed his eyes then tilted his head to the right slightly as he rubbed the back of it before righting it again and letting his hand fall to his side then opening his eyes "I see...so...two of you are here to join my Squad?...so..." Shinji then looked to Giovanni "what are you here for? you have yet to say anything...I get the feeling you are here for something else..." Shinji was really just taking a shot in the dark but hell why not? he was either nervous or wanted something else...a mission?...maybe...well he'd have to wait and see what this Shinigami would say

Giovanni let out a sigh. "Sir, i only wished to speak to you. though it is an extremely private matter. that being said, I dont mind waiting until your free. its nothing life or death" He explained. At least he was no longer at risk of being thrown in the lions den, being assumed to try to join squad one. it was a great squad, probably his.....third pick after Kido corps and squad 10. squad 4 used to be on that list buuuuut he met the captain and changed his mind. But presently he accepted the fact that he would probably have to wait a while. However he honestly didnt mind. Its not like he had anything else to do.

The boy introduced his sword as well as him self. Thankfully not in that order. But she only nodded in return at first. She probably should say something back "nice to meet uh...both of you" well that probably sounded worse than it did in her head. It had to be obvious that she wasn't a social butterfly in the slightest. So far he seemed...safe, is the word that works best. less likely to throw her to a pack of wolves or stab her in her sleep was a better way of putting it but she would stick with safe. Everything fell into an awkward silence for a moment. She couldn't hear or sense anyone else coming so it seemed to just be the two of them for now. she glanced over the mist again. "im not....good with people" she confessed apologetically without actually apologizing. For a second she thought that maybe she was wrong. That maybe there was someone in the world that would accept her. But she remembered all the types of hell she had already been through hoping for such childish things and started thinking about something else.
