I'm kinda interested, I might join. One question I have though is; You mentioned COMP devices in the Slayer bio. You mean the ones from Soul Hackers, right? The ones that look like guns? Or are they the SMT4 ones? The gauntlets?
EDIT: I mean without the ability to demon summon, obviously. I'm just talking about how it looks.
While this is interesting I do have questions as an SMT fan. Why did you choose Shadows, something that is more Persona-centric, in a series where the enemies are mostly Demons? That aside some more information would be good like if there are civilizations outside of the bubbles or survivors in general. So far, interested.
I feel that Shadows are more of a personal enemy to humanity, I see majin as more self-oriented. Some are good, some are bad, some are lawful, some are chaotic, some are amoral, some are transcendent. You know what I mean? Majin are more like gods in the background with agendas than on the frontlines waging war. Also, shadows are a bit interesting in that everything has a shadow, even personas and such.
You know the role-playing games with the classic punishing nintendo difficulty? yeah, that one. I was thinking of doing a roleplay that borrowed elements from the various SMT games and implementing them into one setting. Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, Devil Summoner, Digital Devil Saga, what have you. I haven't played them all yet, but I've played several entrees to have a general understanding of the tone and intrinsic singularities of the SMT titles.
The Megami Tensei (女神転生 Goddess Reincarnated?) series is a franchise of Japanese role-playing video games, developed and published by Atlus. The first game in the series, Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei, released for the Famicom in 1987, is based on a series of novels written by Aya Nishitani entitled Digital Devil Story. The first game to be published in North America was Revelations: Persona for the original PlayStation in 1996, while the first to be published in Europe was Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, renamed Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call. The series has several recurring themes, including demon-summoning, Japanese folklore, and the occult. Despite its thematic roots in Japanese culture and mythology, the Megami Tensei series has found a cult following internationally.
Plots and themes Each title focuses on the extraordinary invading the ordinary world, though the two main Megami Tensei series focus on different things: Shin Megami Tensei focuses more on the main protagonist gaining the power needed to survive in a world ruled over by tyrannical deities, while Persona focuses on interpersonal relationships and the psychology of a group of people. That protagonist is generally male within the Shin Megami Tensei titles: while a female lead or the ability to choose a lead's gender is not out of the question, many staff feel that Shin Megami Tensei lead roles are better suited to a male character. Throughout its lifetime, the series has incorporated elements of Gnosticism, various world mythologies and religions including Christianity and Buddhism, early science fiction, Jungian psychology and archetypes, occultism, punk, and cyberpunk. The science fiction and fantasy elements are brought together and unified through the use of philosophical concepts, enabling a blending of concepts and aesthetics that might normally clash.
Setting: Post-Apocalyptic bubble academy city sitting on the outskirts of what is Hong Kong. Special students(Mutants) are recruited from all over to attend the Eden International Academy.
Technology: The conditions outside the neo bubble cities are quite devastated due to prolonged fallout and razing from doing battle with the shadows, the bubbles cities themselves are fairly modern and lush looking.
Character Classes: Summoners, Avatars, and Slayers. (I'll explain the functions of these 3 important classes. Just know that summoners are like the summoners we see in every game and rpgs in general, they form summoning pacts with monsters, Avatars are like the Atma in DDS, in essence becoming the monster, they can shapeshift into powerful demonic forms. Slayers cannot summon or shapeshift, rather their powers come from training and using their comp devices to simulate supernaturally effective attacks)
I had an idea for a game based around dueling robots of some sort, inspired by several fandoms involving notable dueling robots. You know like megaman/medabots/beyblade/bh6 etc. etc. that kind of thing. In this roleplay, the robots that inhabit the world are actually Extraterrestrials in origins from a distant highly advanced moon world, every MegaBot is powered by a "soul" component of sorts, or medal. Medals are important for IDing robot types, just like there are different types of earth beings, there are different types of robots. Some are elemental in nature(fire, water, light/dark, electricity, etc), some are based on animals(cats, amphibians, birds, etc) others based on archetypal concepts such as Samurai or Clerics. Some Megabots even live their lives around professions like Benders, Craftsmen or Doctors and Lawyers. Every type has a particular function or skillset they do that sets them apart from other types. Basically, there's a type for just about anything you can think of
Megabots tend to vary in weight, shape and function, but most are a little shorter than humans on average. While few others are the size of skyscrapers, these bots are very rare in design.
There are generally two types of Megabots, those who seek to coexist peacefully with their earthlings counterparts, and those who exist to conquer the human race as their masters. I'll expand more on these types of rogue Megabots later in the official topic. Generally speaking, the relationship between humans and robots is a bit mixed as Megabots are still coming into their infancy stages on planet earth, only having arrived to the planet 5 years prior, some humans warm to Megabots and others fear them, there are even anti-robot resistance groups and organizations who exist to thwart the "robo" menace.
Generally speaking most younger people have taken a special liking to Megabots, seeking out Megabots partners to train and unlock their mysterious potential as Megabot Battlers. At the heart of is the human-megabot relationship is the source of their amazing abilities. Megabots are thought to fueled by three different power sources, a purpose or function, powerful emotions such as hatred or friendship and a mysterious unknown source.(I know it's a little corny and cliche XD) Megabots are theorized to powered by emotional energies.
So basically, that's a rough outline of the roleplay. Also, you can upgrade your Megabot similar to Megaman BN and there will be something like battle experience where you can upgrade or level up a megabots battle stats(attack, hit points, speed, defense, special attack, special defense) you can acquire different types of upgrades with different attributes and such. This can only be done in the cyberspace, a type virtual world that humans and megabots can purchase and upgrade their Megabots with megabot data. So anyone interested?
The Name is Val-Zod. Pleasure to meet you all. I'm here to fix what has been broken by my predecessor and bring honor to the shield.
Kyrptonian Name: VAL-ZOD Alter ego: Cory Washington Alias: Superman, Powerman Age: 24 Gender: Male Appearance: Height: 6'2" Weight: 215 lbs. Father and Mother*: Presumably deceased. Adopted by the Washington family in Georgia. Personality (Optional): Cory is a decent guy by most accounts, but he's no pushover. Cory isn't quick to anger but he doesn't mind humbling those who deserve it. He possesses a razor sharp wit and a silver tongue to boot. Perhaps he does have a bit of an ego, but tries to keep it reigned in at times, as his alter ego, a civil servant working behind the scenes of local government, he doesn't mind working within the system to bring change to the people of the city. Being a superhero is more than just punching people in face.
Bio(Optional): Power man or Val-Zod as he's more commonly known among his people is a young Kryptonian of Vathlonian descent. An island continent mostly inhabited by other dark-skinned kyrptontians, existing outside the planetary federation. Vathlo Island is described in records as a "a developed sovereign state that retained its independence throughout history and did not join the planetary federation, though good relations were maintained". By the time General Zod came into power, Vathlo islands were re-annexed. All subsequent children born to the islands were given the surname Zod and assimilated into the empire, though regarded as somewhat less than other kyrptonians.
Val-Zod was one of the last kyrptonian survivors stowed away in escape pods when the planet ultimately met its demise. While on Krypton. He was briefly in the custody of Lara and Jor-El and was raised alongside Kal-El , the man who would take up the title as the first Superman of Earth. His pod landed somewhere in the Atlantic where he presumably surfaced near the coast and civilization. there was a bit of local news about the mystery boy who turned up at sea. It wasn't long before he was adopted by a family in Georgia and given the first name Cory and the surname "Washington". He was around 5 or so at the time. Memories of krypton are hazy at best and appear occasionally as temporary visions. For much of his young adult earth life he brought in his grandfathers church, and raised in tradition of Earthly customs.
Cory is now 24 with a postgraduate degree in political science that he obtained from Florida A&M and is a staffer in the Georgia house of representatives, where he works as an aide to the incumbent Mayor of Atlanta.
Skills/Abilities: Under the effects of a "yellow" sun, Val-Zod possesses the same potential powers as any Kryptonian. For all intents, Val-Zod IS Clark's physical equal in powers. These abilities include:
It's hard to think a little green rock can deprive him of all his powers.
Other than his more obvious super "talents". Val-Zod is quite an accomplished multi-instrumentalist in his own right. He can blow a sax, a trumpet, can play the piano, as well as a violin. Drums, he's not so good with...
Equipment: His equipment on hand is sparse considering his powers enable him to do so much, but he does keep a secret stashe in a certain fortress.
While all the festivities was taking place within the tavern. A lone man dressed in cloak and hood appareal entered the tavern where the group had been thusly assembled, setting aside something wrapped in cloth as he took a seat along the bar's perimeters. The local thief seemed to eye the man's weighty package, whatever it may have been.
