I’ve worked min wage jobs and I’ve done the bare minimum and have still gotten the measly ten cent raises yearly and good references from them. There really is no point, bare minimum gets you by.

The Templar-Commander merely smirked and went outside, staring down Caroline, daring her to make a illegal move.

Anders figured it was time, so he slammed his armored fist onto the table, and everyone became quiet in the courthouse. "We are starting Verdunt Vs. The State."

Anders spotted an Erolyte. They didn't come to these judicial hearings unless they were jurors. "You, Erolyte. Please go to the Juror's stand and prepare for the trial at hand. We are starting now."

"The State may begin their opening statement." A nobleman, dressed in elegant clothing, stood up and greeted everyone. "I am Glacius The Third. I will prove within a doubt that this.... demon over there deserves capital punishment, nothing more, nothing less. My fellow humans. Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, Beastmen. I know we have had our differences before. Peace between our races are nigh impossible. We have had border disputes since the dawn of time. There have been only two times we have allied together. One of those times is right now. The other... was to defeat BAAL! A demon, the only reason why we ban together. We know that true evil has but one servant!"

Glacius pointed towards Jason. "And he is the same as Baal. I do not need to remind all of us of the dark ages, when the sun was blotted out by hordes of demons. It was only due to an organized alliance were we able to slay Baal and force his armies to retreat back into the nether realm. And we all remember what happened when we tried to take prisoners.... the graves of many a soldier can testify what had happened."

"Do we need another demon invasion, in wake of the darkness? For all we know, the darkness may have been created by the demons! No, we should make sure that demon is erased from existence. I firmly believe that the court will make the right decision." Glacius then sat down, confident in his position.

Anders turned to Jason, wary that the demon would try something. "Do you have anything to say in defense for yourself, Mr.Verdunt?"

Breaking handcuffs all the wayNever said Jason was a street smart character

Yeah, cuz if he tries any more funny shet them templars going to stab him to death with pointy sticks. Then they'll call in a mage to evict holy judgements and crap like that. He may kill many, but there are tons and tons of templars.

So the human race would be fucked over because they got so many people killed because of Jason. Do you want that? I don't think so xD

Erolytes tend to go to trials as Jurors, but as your character said, this is a military matter, and law dictates he is judge. Up to him really if he wants Sakura to be a juror or not.Caroline would only really be there as a body guard in case things go south. :l

He could just say she is a juror as a formality and have her decide with a bunch of other people, but they'd be more advisers than actual jurors. Or if you feel that is a waste of time, he could just do away with that.

So if she says he should be prosecuted as a true demon, then Anders would go lethal punishment. if deemed innocent, he'd have to find another punishment other than imprisonment or harm, or simply declare him free.
A little something I had thought up, but there seems to be people still in the middle of interacting..
Sly, are your characters just going to decide if he's guilty or not, as you said they were jurors...
Entering the Courthouse, the Templar-Commander next to Anders unsheathed his axe, outraged that someone was attempting to help the presumed demon.

"This... IS an outrage! I thought I specifically told you damn guards not to let him gain substance! And, you, Witch! This demon should be allowed to suffer... he was already suffering all day and night in the flames of hell, Hunger.. is the least of his worries!" The Templar-Commander was about to swing his axe and decapitate, in his words, a fool, but Anders stopped him at the last second.

"It wouldn't be wise for you to kill the daughter of the king, old friend. Even your god would not save you from the wrath of the people. I have already tested their faith by letting you stay here. Do not betray my trust." The Templar-Commander opened his mouth in protest, but decided against doing so. He put away his mighty axe and calmed himself again. "I will go outside. My men will ensure that nothing shady will occur. Anyone will think twice when they see an entire Templar regiment outside the courthouse."

The civilian judge looked up in sheer intimidation, as Anders stood at 6'4, and he towered above most living beings. His armor and the massive sword on his back did not offer much comfort either. "Can I help you Praetorian?"

Anders crossed his arms and explained the situation. "Law dictates that a Praetorian may act as a judge in matters pertaining to the military. My commanders have deemed this trial a military issue. Stand aside. I will preside as judge today."

The civilian judge hesitantly walked away, cursing something about unfair practices. Anders decided he would forget those words just for today. He turned to offer the daughter of the king some advice.

"You may be royalty princess, but the Templar-Commander has considerable power. Opposing him would be brave.. but very foolish. I would find it... wise.. if you simply stay out of these matters, or simply observe. As you are only second to the king and queen, I cannot order you to do so. But I strongly advise it."

Anders walked up to the judge's table, and his voice resounded throughout the courthouse. "the trial will commence immediately in five minutes. For now, we shall wait."
I would like to cause an event to happen... but there seems to be things happening between people...

Anyone still here?
I would possibly be interested.
"Welcome, we have been awaiting your arrival, Captain. As you know, our allies have found a demon on the outskirts of Amroth. This is a military issue now, and as Captain of the Praetorians, you will preside as judge for... it's trial. I hope you will come to the most logical conclusion, the conclusion we have made for all demons caught by our forces. May the Absolute Being grant his omnipotence upon you to carry out his justice."

Anders knew exactly what the Templar in front of him wanted, despite his talk of justice. The conclusion the humans had made for years, was the immediate execution of any and all demons, there would be no exceptions.

And under any circumstances, he'd agree. In fact, he'd skip the trial and simply hand the demon to the angels, or worse yet, to the Templar. Sometimes even they were more religiously militant than the angels themselves. But these were trying times. Quite simply, word broke out that there was a demon found, and the city had been hard-pressed to suppress the civil unrest that occurred afterwards. Many wanted him dead, but many also wanted to extract information out of the bloody demon, especially the other races that had become their temporary allies. Anders was sure that if it had been kept a secret, the demon would have simply been beheaded and swept under the carpet. Especially because a Templar regiment had found him, along with a few angels that had been helping them. Too bad a few elves had decided to be nosy.

So he was the unlucky bastard that had to decide whether the demon bastard died or not. And he had to do it fast, as he had a more important meeting to attend to, as he was part of the circle.

Anders followed the Templar-Commander towards the courthouse, and he could already see some people head towards the establishment of law, wanting to see the outcome of the trial no less.

Including many other races. Many had been enemies of the humans before, and Anders still did not trust them. Especially the elves, who were backstabbing cowards. In fact, there was one he could see in front of the stables, probably a fresh arrival.

Anders didn't know if the elf saw it, but he gave a look of disdain. Any other day, Anders would be slicing elves like him in half.

Sadly, this was not any other day. Anders slowly adverted his gaze and entered the courtroom, preparing for the task at hand.
