They do admittedly. But for instance the guy who drives leapord 2's for ten years isn't a qualified Fighter pilot. And isn't likely to leave the army suddenly to do so. People do change MOS. My brother did as well. But they are usually within the same service branch and the Super drastic changes of MOS aren't as often as people think. They happen sure. But most people stay relatively within their little service Sub branches.

And now that you said I am going to be missing out on a lot of plot and I don't really feel inspired to make a pilot anymore.
It's like the actual military where the Tank divers spend all their time driving tanks and the Ariforce is doing it's thing and the infantry and snipers are doing theirs. Everyone leaves themselves to their own little areas of expertise.
I would think like your thinking in regards to a space marine who has centuries to develop theses skills. But I am thinking of humans. Who have decades, probably less to do so. And have to have a more limited but specialized skill set.

My idea being ya the guy who has been piloting for 20 years may be a fantastic pilot. But that does not mean he can or has had the time to drive many tanks around. because most of his time is spent being a pilot, where he shows a particular aptitude and the military won't risk in a thing he may not be competent with, or find any reason to pull him away from that field of specialty he shows so much prowess in.
Ya I know. I am more just trying to wonder about having both Piloting and tank driving skills. Both of those take years to develop. To a good if not expert degree anyway.

I could do both But I will probably be less than spectacular at one. Probably driving.
All aircraft belong to the Imperial navy though. Vendetta's being little more than Valkyrie variants fall under their jurisdiction as well. The guard use them yes but they are more 'on loan' from the navy than actually part of the Guard. But ya I guess the guard would train its own pilots for these things without having to rely on the navy.

But I am willing to make A guardsman pilot and am trying to make a versatile character I just think it might be a little unreasonable to have the skills to pilot, and drive any vehicle in the Imperial Arsenal. usually those people are exclusive to their little skill sets. In my mind at least.
The fact he is a minatour is a definant Hell no. My character would most likely drive away shooting him, While calling artillery to blow him away. And I still don't think it should be possible looking at the relative size and weight of the minatour or ogryn, Compared to that of the tauros. But in the end I really don't care about whether they can ride in the Tauros or not, because he is not getting in mine.

The more this is pushed the less likely I am to go along with it. Just so that is cleared up.

As for piloting vendetta's and stuff. Those are navy vessels. Can I make a navy pilot? Instead of a Cadian soldier?
First, The ogryn at that size would not fit inside the Tauros. And would weigh it down to an admittedly comical but ultimaltly useless degree.

Faced with picking up your ogryn I would say no, I would not give you a lift. Because it would not be at all possible in my opinion and in my characters. I can see an agryn riding in an open topped tank chassis. Like a salamander or even some lemen russel variant. But not a light scout and support vehicle like a Tauros. Assuming I even choose the tauros.

Even if the Valkyrie can carry space marines(and one space marine is arguable, maybe even two if there was no one else inside. But multiple on top of fitting other people inside. They will easily take up the space of two or more people, power armour and wargear 'not' included. And like hell they would fit a full battle squad inside.) they cannot carry ogryns.

The Valkyrie is capable of carrying 12 troops, but cannot carry Ogryns. That is from the wiki and it repeats itself in the Lexicanum as well. And if I had enough energy to look up the Codex I am sure it would repeat itself again.
Well. I could do the Valkyrie thing. But no Valkyrie can transport even Ogryns much less space marines. Nor can some Imperial tanks.

I could do a space marine with a thunderhawk or something. But I was hoping for a guardsman role.
Well it wont be able to carry an ogryn.
I like the sentinals for versatility. And rocket sentinals are hilarious. That and I am looking for something really light. Away from the more 'tank' looking and build vehicles. I may use them in the rp. But I do like Sentinals.

Or I may NPC two randoms to help me drive a Tauros Venator.
