Force Type: Storm trooper Company (Tempestus Scions)
History: The 903rd have a history stretching back over five centuries of honourable service to the Emperor. In that time far too many battles have fought and too many men died to properly list them all.
Suffice to say the 903rd has whetted it's blade against nearly every foe that avail's themselves against the Imperium's obvious and unquestionable right to rule. From The Black slavers of Commorragh to Chaos cults of the most unimaginably vile depths of depravity to butchering Eldar exodites to make way for Imperial colonization efforts, And splinter fleets from Tyranid hive invasions.
In particular the orks have proven to be a common target for this particular company. Battling the greenskins in so many different theatres has left it's impression on the companies preferred tactics and mindset of it's commander. It also gives them good experience when combating the greenskins as they are familiar with many orcish tactics and ways of thinking. Allowing them to more easily outmanoeuvre and decapitate their leadership. Throwing the rest of the horde into disarray and infighting.
Most missions undertaken by elements of the Tempestus Militarum are top secret and the specifics cannot be divulged to anyone other than inquisitors themselves. Suffice to say the 903rd may not be the oldest regiment in the Imperial guard but they have constantly proved their valour time and time again.
Headquarters:
An unnamed desert planet serves as the primary training ground for the 903rd and other Scion units. It is a deliberately harsh world who's wildlife and climate are particularly hazardous to ones health and well being. It acts more as a morbid crucible than an actual world anyone would ever consider inhabiting.
A dreary place that only serves to weed out the weak and the slow from the ranks of the Tempestus Militarum in as brutally efficient and mentally scarring a manner as possible.
Strength:
Approx 4000~ Troopers.
350~ Armoured personel carriers. (Mixture of Taurox primes & chimera's)
Miscillanious number of enginseers, layworkers and support personel
Favoured heavy weapons
Hellgun volley gun
Hades pattern MkIII backpack flamer
Their regiment has also earned the right to very special equipment. To help facilitate their combat roll of rapid armoured strikes. Many of their hellguns have underslung grenade launchers. Making each individual exceedingly lethal and versatile on the battle field.
Tactics:
Being a small size forces the 903rd into more of a strike force/response unit. With a fleet of armoured Tauroxes moving them too and fro they are capable of rapidly responding to a situation. Whether that be plugging a hole on the front line, reinforcing a defensive action against an enemy push or riding out to unload and lay waste to enemy depots and fortified positions and then retreat again before enemy reinforcements have a chance to arrive.
They work best in tandum with other Imperial units. Particularly infantry regiments of the imperial guard or PDF. Supporting their pushes, helping to clear the way for the main invasion force. Or sometimes using the larger regiment as a distraction while they send surgical teams to assassinate, destroy or retrieve items of note.
They also liberally use Flamers and grenade launchers and other explosives when the time calls. Many teams will have one member equipped with a Hades MkIII pattern flamer. It is a useful weapon, light enough for a flame weapon to still allow it's user to move quickly and powerful enough to still be as deadly as any other model. The Marauders like to use them for the psycological aspects. To have three armoured trucks con barrelling through your lines, discharging thirty heavily armed and armoured men. Fire and ionized beams of light filling the air with cracks and crackles. It often throws the enemy completely into panicked chaos. Allowing the troopers to pick off their targets with ease and overwhelm whatever small pockets of resistance try to form.
By the time the enemy force can send a reinforcement team the area is already empty. Littered with dead and wounded strewn amongst roasted weapon encampments, bunkers blown from the inside out and munition & supply piles burnt to useless crisps.
