Claymore, it benefits from both STR and DEX, you need 16 STR and 10 Dex to wield it.If you're going pure Dex (no points in STR,) the best weapon is the great scythe.

Cool! Does it slow you down? I mean, I'm fine with power at the cost of other things (defense), unless my speed is too drastically reduced.

Agreed.Invasions are not common in the game. Though I will say I experienced most of it in the first few levels. Messages on the ground, when they're not trolling, are extremely useful and build up the collective knowledge you need to know to get through an area or get a good item, shortcut, etc.Furthermore, there's a couple bosses that almost everyone will go through the pain of finding an online partner to fight, because they're that difficult to beat. you play offline? On my PC, the game refuses to save unless I'm online/have a GFWL account.

I am actually playing on a console... and, I'm still fine with toughing it out if I have to.

That's going to be hell, you're not going to get Soapstone help which you really need, and you won't be able to summon people who will just wreck fights for you.

Oh yeah.After you kill the boar, right before you go into the church, head to the right across the bridge. There is a bonfire you can use that will make it easier to splat yourself against the boss, and a blacksmith who will upgrade your shit.If you can run past the dragon, you can grab one of the best weapons in the game.
