Los Paraísos: Bus Stop

“Yes!!” Estelle dramatically twirled around, a beaming smile and giant thumbs upped directed back to her friends. “Water park! Water park! We are going to go to a water park!!!”

“Yes, yes…” Marcus laughed, trying to calm his overeager and enthusiastic friends down somewhat. But that was an impossible task. After everything the Pride had been through, the harsh trials and the difficult challenges, being able to relax at a place like this… even if they were on a mission at the same time too… it was impossible not to be excited. And once one of them started, that excitement quickly became infectious to the point where it wouldn’t stop. Even the calm and composed Marcus couldn’t feign enjoying the upcoming trip. Even so…

“But only after we meet our companions at the Flying Albatross. And after that, I think we should find our hotel first, so we can drop our belongings off there first. And then after tha-”

“WATER PARK.” Estelle’s face was all the way up in Marcus’, her eyes wide and lit with fiery determination. If anything… she looked scary.

“Y-y-yes. Water park!” Marcus quickly nodded, hoping to avoid the terrible consequences of Estelle’s excitement. “We also need to find Don. He should be here somewhere… but this is a big place, so that might take a while an-”

“Water park! Water park!”

Marcus’ advice was drowned out by the chorus of cheers from Estelle, Trixie and Lisette, the trio of girls linking arms and skipping forwards together, Kapi bouncing up and down as they marched to the bus stop.

They didn’t have to wait long for their transportation to arrive. Puttering nearer and nearer from the gates of Los Paraísos were a trio of three buses: mechanical transportation machines powered by a number of wind magispheres that helped push the automobile off and hover along the ground. They moved at a fair speed, crossing the distance between the docks and the resort itself in short time, coming to a neat, and gentle stop at the bus stop to pick up the island’s new passengers.

“Come along, come along!” Cried the driver and porter of each bus as they stepped out, helping to usher the travellers on and carrying their baggage to their designated holding points. “Not much longer now folks until we’re there! Please take a seat, and enjoy yourselves… at Los Paraísos!!”

And so it was they quickly filed on, their belongings stored in the rear compartments of the buses as they all sat down on the plush seats. The buses roared to life again, lifting up from the ground and swaying side to side as they did, before fully coming to life and beginning to move forwards, forwards and into Los Paraísos.

The sudden motion did not help Selan’s constitution. It was like being back on the boat again… she could only pray it wouldn’t last long…

A tour was given by the porter as they plodded on down the strip, introducing a variety of attractions lying all around them. Far too many, and far too quickly for any of the Pride to properly remember, their heads snapping left and right, up and down, taking in all of the sights, sounds and smells, but it was nothing more then sensory overload.

Fast-food vendors lined the streets provided a menagerie of delicious smells to help intoxicate and salivate the Pride’s taste buds. The streets were lined with crowds of people, all moving to and fro, either dressed extremely extravagantly or in very loose clothing, the best to help in their efforts to enjoy the climate. Beautiful young men and women lined the streets, handing out leaflets and advertising their place of employment’s attractions in a hope to encourage as many tourists as possible to shop there – be it the restaurants, souvenirs shops, hotels or a hundred other different specialty venues. The hotels themselves towered high, high into the sky – might monoliths leaning over themed providing an endless spectacle of lights. Screams of excitement and rollicking machinery could be heard from the rollercoaster housed theme park in one section of the resort. The Pride passed a giant concert stage, with one band in the process of playing a concert – the music being broadcast over speakers positioned everywhere throughout the island. Before them, at the far end of the strip, halfway up the resort’s tallest hotel was an impossibly big screen… a big screen showing moving pictures!!

“Wooooooooooah…” Were the only words that could escape Estelle’s lips. She had never seen anything like this before, and wondered if, after this holiday, whether she ever would again.

“And here’s our stop!” The porter said, he and the bus driver quickly scrambling off and unloading their passengers and their belongings, so that they could repeat the drive again back to the docks for the next endless stream of holiday goers to arrive. “We hope you all enjoy Los Paraísos!! We hope you have a good day!!”

A plume of dust was kicked up from where the bus sped off, with the collection of ten guilders, plus capybara, left standing with their gear on the sidewalk besides the road.

“Did… anyone catch if that guy mentioned that Alba-whatsit?” Estelle asked, shaking looking everywhere for any sign of the establishment.

Los Paraísos: The Flying Albatross

Thunderhawk’s empty glass hit the bar stand, the ice resting inside clinking about. Thunderhawk didn’t even turn to look at his visitor or raise his head, instead just staring at the empty glass and taking a heavy sigh.

”How many times have I told you? The name’s not ‘Chirps’. It’s Thunderhawk.” The Ranger replied, massaging his aggravated temples. He would have thought a name like that would have been easy to remember, but for some reason people always forgot. And for some bizarre, inexplicable reason, he was always saddled with extremely annoying people who taxed his patience. People like her.

He took another deep breath, trying to compose himself. Like it or not, he had to work with Aria… and so he needed to be polite. Even if that was a mission in and of itself.

Finally, he raised his head. His intention was to check the clock and see what time it was, to check if the Guilders they were to meant to meet were running late, but doing so first meant seeing Aria fully, and so his gaze stopped. Thunderhawk looked down at her, one eyebrow arching in the air.

“Nice dress. Aiming to impress?” The stocky ranger asked. In comparison to Aria’s glamorous outfit and accessories, Thunder hawk was dressed in his usual Guilder ensemble – orange top and brown cargo pants, a red scarf wrapped around his neck even in this heat and a white bandana pushing up his messy blonde hair. Hanging from his waist was a satchel filled with javelins and his short sword. “You thinking of hoping to find a boyfriend or something?"

Thunderhawk turned away, staring at his glass again and swirling the melting ice from side to side. Usually he might have been more enamoured by Aria and her beauty… using his tried and true charms to woo her as he had done a hundred women before. But with Aria he felt little compulsion to. Amongst other reasons, her personality was an instant wall blocking any desire to. Getting to know her over the last week alone was enough to convince him he did not, and would never ever want to get involved with her. There wasn’t enough alcohol in the world to make him drunk enough to want to. She reminded him of a few other women he tried very hard to forget… and yet just his luck, he was stuck working alongside her, in a place like this.

This mission could very well be the death of him.

“You seen…” Thunderhawk paused, doing his very best to remember their other companion’s name. “…Xandra around? I would have thought you two would have came in together…”
That's okay Fox, don't worry about it. :) School comes first. Hopefully though we can get a post tomorrow to help intro Xan <3 But if not, then we can intro her in at your next best convenience. It's okay.

Gonna catch up on stuff in a little bit. ^_^
Your post was perfect, Kathi! I'm really looking forward to having interaction start 8D

"Even short-term exposure to Chirps was intolerable (did that make him sound like some sort of virus? She sure hoped so)"

Ah, the good time old tradition of hating THawk continues <3 Wonderful!
Daww, Danni <3

Largo Mann: G Rank Guilder: Age 20

BAM

“Largo, stop hitting that machine! What do you think you’re doing?!” Screamed Rachael, the red haired swordswoman rushing as quickly as she could across the casino floor towards the sound of the loud disruption. Trading her usual armour and swords for a beautifully stunning dress, accessories and purse, she raced as fast as she could towards the boisterous young man, dressed in a sharp suit… hitting one of the slot machines. Over and over again.

“The thing took my gald, Rachael!” Largo replied, punching the machine again. “Tiberius said if you put gald in here, it shoots more back out for you. So I’m just…” BAM “Trying to get the broken thing to work again.”

“No, no no no that’s not what’s supposed to happe-”

BAM!!

Ching ching ching ching ching

“Oh, there we go.”

To Rachael’s dismay, the slot machine, flashing brightly its assortment of rainbow colours, also started to blare a loud, deafening sound as a mountain of gald coins poured out from the slot machine and started to pile up on the casino’s plush carpeted floor. Suddenly, all of the other casino’s patrons reared their heads up, rushing to join in with taking as much of the gald as they could, as an rapid stream of money seemed to just spill out with no end in sight.

Largo bent down low, and scooped as much of it as he could carry into his arms, turning and grinning back to Rachael. “See, Rachael? Knew I could do it. Tiberius, Matthew and Master are going to be so impressed once they see all thi- YOW!”

“Shut up and run, you idiot!” Rachael grabbed Largo’s ear and started to pull the man as quickly as she could, the pair fleeing the crime scene with a trail of gold coins left in their wake.
Los Paraísos: Pellagio: Penthouse Suite

The next morning

Turn around…

“Hnn…”

Pain. Shooting pain, consuming his entire body. His head felt like it was burning, a million sharp needles digging into him. His vision dazed and blurry, his head swimming back and forth, reminding him of the trip here on the boat. His hearing assaulted by a gross snort and wheeze mere millimetres from him. Confusion. Agony.

Pain. Shooting pain, consuming his entire body.

Turn around…

Slowly, very, very slowly he opened his eyes, the sheer effort of raising his eyelids feeling almost Herculean. The first thing he was assaulted by upon opening his eyes was her. The gross snoring of Moira Dennis, her nostrils flaring largely as she sucked all the air in the room and exhaled through her drooling mouth. A vulgar stench wafting into Syed’s nose and making him want to gag and retch.

What happened? Why did he feel like this? Normally he would sleep on the floor, not lying next to Moira like this. What happened? Why did his head hurt so much?

Pain. Shooting pain, consuming his entire body.

Turn around…

And then Syed became aware of another strange sensation. The hairs on the back of his neck being hit by warm, rhythmic air. What… what was that?

Turn around…

The pain was excruciating. Unbearable. Just the effort of trying to move his body, to turn around was more then he could handle. His head hurt like hell. He’d experienced pain before. A lot of it, unfortunately, but nothing like this. What the hell happened to him last night? The bed sheets he laid on were so nice and comforting, but that only served to help emphasise how much his head just hurt. Dear Vayu…

Turn around…

Halfway through the turn, everything seemed to drop into slow motion. As soon as Syed began to see what was waiting for him out the corner of his eye, his eyes opened wide. Wider then wide. Wider then he’d ever managed to do before. His body continued to turn, his eyes unblinking, his mouth starting to drop at what was lying next to him on the other side of the bed.

Turn around…

What… what had happened.

By the gods…

…what had happened?!

Turn around…

Pinned on the wall was a strip of paper, gently flapping back and forth from the wind wafting in from the open balcony door.

Los Paraísos: Docks

24 Hours Earlier

Now

The Pride stepped off the boat from Tagress, their feet hitting solid ground, and the first thing Estelle did- the first and only thing she could do, is just scream from excitement.

Flicking her sunglasses up, she jumped high in the air with a tremendous ‘yahoo!’, her arms pumping the sky as she absorbed the warm, gorgeous sun overhead, and looked out side to side at the beautiful, sparkling beaches and sea surrounding them. The docks led onto a path, that with a short bus ride ahead, led to the incredible resort ahead of them that seemed to just tower above and pierce the sky.

This.

Was.

Amazing!!

“Guys!” Estelle screamed. “Guys, guys! We’re here! Los Paraísos! We’re at Los Paraísos!! Oh my gods!!”

Before she could wait for any of her friends to say anything, Estelle had already started racing ahead to be the first at the bus stop. Garbed in a loose fitting, yellow vest and short, red shorts, Estelle was already well prepared for their vacation at Los Paraísos, even if they did also have work to do whilst they were. From behind, Marcus gave a short sigh and smile, trudging behind, carrying his friend’s belongings with them. He turned to his friends, cocking his head.

“Shall we?”

Los Paraísos.

An island resort filled with girls, glitz, and glamour. Filled with beaches, booze, and babes. The number one holiday destination for any individual out looking for fun. Home to an innumerable amount of attractions, from the water parks and rollercoasters, casinos and nightclubs, there was literally something for everyone. And the Pride…

The Pride would not be prepared for what was to happen that night…
Los Paraísos: The Flying Albatross

Leaving the relentless music filled strip behind, seeking peace and respite from the noise blaring from the hundreds upon hundreds of speakers set outside and seeking shelter inside the much darker, cooler, establishment, the man strode forwards, making a beeline directly for the bar.

As he did, his eyes scanned the busy room, passing over the numerous patrons huddled around their tables and chatting away. Drinking and eating the restaurant’s famed seafood and steak. He was supposed to be meeting a lot of people here today. First, the two women he’d first met a week ago, and had been saddled up to work together by Tiberius, much to his own chagrin. And now, another assortment of Guilders who he was told were here to help him and those other two in accomplishing their mission here. So far… he could see neither. No large group of Guilders, nor the two girls either. In the restrooms, perhaps, or still making their way here? Not that it mattered, so long as they were here on time.

If anything, the man was early. He wanted to be here, if only to catch a bit of personal time to rest and relax before needing to talk business. Gods knew he needed it, having to work with those two…

He could only hope these other Guilders arriving weren’t as bad, and that with their help they could actually solve Tiberius’ mission.

“Excuse me, my good man,” The man spoke, upon reaching the bar and grabbing a free stool. “I’d like to order a drink.”

Writing is definitely art, yup! :D Share us some of your prose and other writings, Danni! :>

Everybody's art <3 Syed and Moira is hilarious |D Their height differences! And what Kathi said is how I feel about Bun's art too - it's so expressive, and I love the hell out of that. It's something I wish I could do, but can't :/ And the same with Rex and Kathi's art too <3 Your pictures' expressions and emotions is just... great. I also love how restrained you guys are able to be with your drawings. Me, I go detail heavy to the point of overboard, which definitely means something is lost, because simple is often better. It's just... yeah, remarkable stuff.

I also love how well you guys can draw original stuff. I can't, I need a reference. :/ I'm a pretty good copier, but that's about it. My colour work sucks too, and I don't have much patience to dedicate to drawing anymore D|

These are all stuff that... looking at the dates, I did a bit over a year ago.

I'll get to work on a post after I walk my doggy. :)

Hope everyone's having a wonderful day!

Good luck on your test, Kathi, and on your midterm, Rex!

Love you guys! <3

Tagress: Docks

“You’re sure you saw them head here?” Celeste asked, walking alongside the other three Guilders, her head leaning back and forth as she searched their quarry out. Julius did the same as Celeste in searching for their target, but instead of moving in such exaggerated manners, his eyes just darted across every corner, silently taking their surroundings in.

“Of course I did!” Elaine replied. “I’m a tracker, sweetie! Finding people is my speciality! And I saw ol’Donny boy wander off down here! We should find him annnny minute… now! Look! There he is!”

Rounding the corner of a warehouse, stepping onto a street overlooking the sea, they saw the man they had been looking for and expected to find a small distance before them: Don Capuello.

However, what they didn’t expect… was for him to be walking onto the gangplank of a boat, the gangplank being raised and the boat ready to set sail. The ship’s foghorn blaring loudly.

“Woah woah woah what the heck!!” Elaine shrieked, taking off at a sprint to try and catch up, Celeste, Julius and Malik all following as quickly as they could. Elaine’s leg had healed well in the last month, but it was still far from perfect. If she had been spared such an injury, then she might have been able to catch up in time… but it was to no avail. She still held enough of a limp that she could do nothing but watch in despair as the boat passed far beyond her and her friend’s ability to reach. For some reason… whatever reason… Don had left with no word or explanation. Elaine was happy that it meant her mission to recruit him had failed. But failing to stop him from abandoning the rest of his friends without a word… was unbearable. It was the most gutting of defeats.

How could she have let this happen?!

Tears started to swell, and she gripped the sides of her head in a panic. Celeste too, was rendered speechless, watching the fading ship with her body racked with trembling.

“Celeste…” Julius started to speak up.

“Sh-shut up Julius…” Celeste snapped back. She too, didn’t want Don to join them when it meant abandoning the rest of his friends. She and Julius were still only newcomers, outsiders. But even she in her limited time could see how much the Pride meant to Don, and how much he meant to them. “Just shut up, I… I can’t frigging believe this… what the fuck…? How could he have-”

“Celeste, it’s okay. It-”

“Shut up, Julius! Okay?! What part about this is okay?! What, huh? The others… they’re going to be heartbroken!!”

Tagress: Park

“Estelle’s stomach?” Tiberius turned to the newly cut, red haired swordswoman, whose cheeks turned as red as her fiery hair and newly formed indignation bubbled to the surface at Lucien’s comment.

“Hey!”

“Doesn’t surprise me…” Trent muttered lowly.

Truthful explanations were then given, the mention of a bear ramshacking their food and Moira’s confession she was wrestling it. A twinkle formed in the Guild Leader’s eyes, as he remembered his and Moira’s brief time many decades ago… when they and Largo would climb through the mountainous woods near Clockwork Town every now and then to do precisely that.

“Aw… wish I could have been here to do it too…”

Lucien winced. Pain that his animal summons felt was directed straight back to him too. Moira was one thing, but any wrestling his bear might have had with Tiberius would not have ended well. Another month in the hospital if he was lucky. Retirement if he wasn’t. Heh.

“I’ll take a bottle of wine, thanks.” Tiberius grinned, sitting down by the ruined food, crossing his mighty legs one over the other. “I’m technically working now but… if all this was stuff that *I* paid for, then I think I’m entitled to it.” He grabbed the bottle of wine and popped the cork off with his teeth, guzzling the contents effortlessly.

"Hiya Mister Rex, hiya Trent!" Lisette’s eyes sparkled, waving at the two men as she bent down to try and find some more food to share… finding none she could really consider safe enough to give. As she did, Marcus watched over everyone silently, inches away from still helping Amy in case she were to tumble, but keeping a well enough distance away so as to not provoke a more… unpleasant reaction. Lisette’s failure with the food made Marcus wonder if Lucien now felt full…? Just as much of a gullet as Estelle then…

“You’ve all just been lying around having a picnic, huh?” Trent muttered, a fresh new scowl creasing his youthful features. The boy would earn wrinkles far before his time at this rate.

"Is something wrong? We weren't expecting to see you until later..." Selan asked, tapping her chin with a finger, waiting until after Tiberius had finally emptied the contents of the wine bottle.

“No, nothing wrong. I just thought I’d be busy most of the day settling some errands… but I found Trent already, and I got a couple more people helping me out, so things look good. It was quite lucky I found you all here…” Tiberius grinned. “Just not lucky enough to have done so sooner.” His eyes fell with dismay at the lost food. “Anyway… I suppose I could explain things here. This is a much nicer place for a discussion then the Guild anyway, right?”

“You’re gonna tell us where we’re going to next, right?!” Estelle bounced up and down, racing in close to hear Tiberius’ news. His words would hopefully lead them in the right direction to find Rize and Kara.

“That’s right.” Tiberius grinned. “I know the location of where they went next. But… if it’s alright on you, I want to impose on you all a little bit longer as well.”

A deflated look crossed the faces of all of the Pride.

“WHAT.”

“Hear me out, hear me out!” Tiberius pushed out his hands over and over again, in an attempt to calm his charges down. “You’ll actually like what I’ve got to say. Promise. You guys are the perfect people to help deal with this… and it’ll be good for you all too. When’s the last time you had a holiday? The hospital notwithstanding.”

“…holiday?”

“They get to go on a fucking holiday?” Trent eyeballed Tiberius with a fresh frown.

“Rize and Kara moved on to Abatheo. But I want you guys to make a slight little detour to Los Paraísos instead. You’ll be able to get to Abatheo from there easily enough, and I need you guys to help solve a problem for me there. You’ll also be able to get some much needed relaxation… sun, sand, surf…”

“Los Paraísos?! Are you serious?!” Estelle screamed.

Everyone had heard of Los Paraísos… even the dense and thick-headed Moira. A small island resort a couple of days sail away from where they were, the resort was home to the glitzy and glamorous. An island filled with beaches, booze and babes. Nightclubs, casinos, water parks and rollercoasters. The island had anything and everything a holiday goer could possibly want. The only downside however, was…

“Isn’t Los Paraísos meant to be… expensive, though?” Marcus chimed in. The Pride hardly had the funds to pay for such a trip.

“All taken care of. On my tab.” Tiberius quickly replied. “I’ve already booked your tickets and rooms. You guys leave tomorrow.”

“B-b-b-bwuh?!” Estelle couldn’t speak.

“And later tonight, back at the Guild I can give you guys new weapons. Those cards I mentioned for Mr. Maddox, a new bow for Miss Marchand… I see you’re missing your staff as well, Amy.” Tiberius nodded to the blonde cleric. “And a sword for you as well, Estelle.”

“Wow, Mr. Rex, you’re really nice! Nyahaha!” Nikki laughed again.

“You’re not going with them, furball.” Trent dashed Nikki’s hopes in two. “You’re still stuck with me, remember?”

Nikki was caught between two emotions – depression at the thought of not being able to party in such a fun sounding place as Los Paraísos… but then also a surprising amount of happiness that Trent seemed to actually… want her with him. For the first time they had been together. Nikki quickly recovered from the sadness, racing towards the Boarder and smothering him in a powerful hug.

“Awww, Trent, you’re so cyute! Don’t worry, your big sister’s always here with you~” She turned, winking towards Marcus. “Write me this time though, yeah~?”

“Wait… this all sounds very exciting but… what’s the mission?” Selan was the first to ask, the others still lost in their flights of fancy for their next destination.

The Wolf returned a sly grin.

“When you get there, I want you to head to The Flying Albatross. There you’ll meet three Guilders, who’ll be assisting you. They’ll explain everything then. Ha, ha ha!”
Tagress: Docks

“Celeste, calm down. Seriously now, it-”

“Shut up, Julius, before I smack you!!”

“Hey, did any of you see a strange looking man in a leather jacket around him…? He was meant to be joining our crew, but I’ve lost him…”

Elaine and Celeste were stopped in their tearful tracks, the latter gripping Julius’ collar and seconds away from sending a magic imbued fist in his face, when a muscular sailor approached them from the side. Wearing a bandana and striped shirt, the sailor was the very same man who had spoken to Don earlier, Tobor, and was now surprised at having seen him vanished.

“Man in a leather jacket?” Elaine repeated. “He just got on a boat… wh… who are you?”

“Elaine, Celeste.” Elaine’s husband, Malik, coolly spoke up, pointing to the fading ship. A small smile rising across his bearded face. “Look at that ship. …it’s the ship to Los Paraísos.”

“WHAT!!!”

“That’s what I was trying to tell you… ack!” Julius felt a painful smack in the side of his face.

Vandrell: Hawthorne Manor: Woods north of the ruined Manor

One month ago: One hour after the fall of Lucifer

Trudging through the scorched remains of the woods north of Vandrell's Hawthorne Manor, the man's boots splashed through the many puddles left behind as he marched forwards on and on. Mud caked his boots as he did, the man showing no sign of interest or worry for his appearance as he did. The land was eerily quiet in the remains of the Pride's desperate struggle against the Family to prevent the rising of Abraxis, the sun's dawning not even giving way to the morning cries of birds. There was no sound whatsoever, save for the man's rthymic footfalls.

That and... munching.

Holding a bowl of cereal in one hand, the other using a spoon to scoop it up and eat it, Billy walked forwards without a care in the world, walking on and on loudly eating until finally, at last, he reached his destination. The center of the devastated forest, where he stood above something lying in the ground, smoking. He stared at it for a minute, still chewing again and again, enjoying his breakfast. He put his spoon in the bowl, and raised his right hand to his ear, pushing down on something inbedded inside.

"Hello... hello...? Do you read me...?" He spoke aloud. The device resting in his ear: a communicator.

"Ah... finally. You took your time..." The voice on the other end of the line, amidst raging static, replied. "I trust the mission is accomplished?"

"Yeah... we've got what we want. Abraxis is in our hands... Mission accomplished there, but..." Billy leaned down again, looking at the smouldering object lying on the ground. A small, perfectly formed black sphere, its surface shining in the morning light and reflecting the nearby smouldering embers.

"But what?"

In the process of writing a post :3

EDIT: Post is up and the chapter is oveeeeeer!

I'm going to take a break for today and begin the next chapter tomorrow, so I'd like for no one to post until then, thank you. :> Sorry for making everyone miss a day of posting, but hopefully that'll help build all of you guys' anticipation for the next chapter :)

Next chapter we'll finally begin the idea we sparked almost a year ago. :) Be excited.

Oh yeah, I like Kaori Oda too. I've not heard too many of her songs, but Baccano's ending song "Calling" is just... my god.
