Phillis Circus: Outside

“Godsdamnit Max you idiot, take me back and put me down!”

“Gosh, Sammie, I’m sorry… I thought you were my honey boo…”

“You do this all the time! We look nothing like each other, you idiot!”

“Huh? What? You don’t?”

“No, we don’t! Eyebrows, you moron! Our eyebrows are totally different!!”

“…”

“And our noses are completely different, too! Tammie’s is fatter!”

“I’m… er… not so sure about that…”

“Whatever, just shut up and put me back down again otherwise that guy will get away!!”

With a wilting sigh, the skybound Max, carrying his companion Sammie, turned and gently lowered themselves down to the ground, stopping off precisely where Max had accosted Sammie in her and Cammie’s battle against Lute. The virtuoso, along with Sammie’s brother, were in the midst of helping civilians evacuate the destroyed rubble of tents that Abram’s animals had helped to destroy in their rampage against Lucien’s summon, before they suddenly stopped and turned upon noticing their presence.

Lute’s face paled immediately, the youth’s skin turning as pale as his fair. The animals’ battle against Lucien’s summon was thankfully over, their destruction abated almost as soon as it had begun, with the nearest civilians closest to them now having all fled to safer parts…

…but not Lute was completely surrounded. With Sammie and Max approaching from one side, and the trio of circus animals on the other side taking notice of him, and Cammie right beside him… even with the latter’s help, he couldn’t deny the simple fact that…

…he was so, so screwed.

Phillis Circus: Big Top: Audience Seating

His mind and body hurt like nothing he had ever felt before.

Even though Lucien hadn’t been physically fighting himself, he still felt the mental whiplash of his bear’s struggle against those three circus animals enough to feel the effects on himself. He was almost completely exhausted, and his mind stung with the worst headache he had ever felt. More potent, even, then the time he had spent drinking at one of Tagress’ many bars, and a night he wished he could have forgotten.

He had lost control of not only the animal’s senses, but his own – the summon becoming embroiled in its own maddening beastial rage, resulting in a bloody, primal fight. One that caused a lot of devastation and destruction among the tents outside, and the frightening of a lot of poor people. Now that he was back to his senses, Lucien could only grimace in both pain and guilt at what had happened… at what he had allowed to happen. Anybody who might have gotten hurt outside was because of him. It’d be on his conscience. What could he do…?

“Easy, easy,” Lucien raised his hands in the air in front of him, partly as a mock surrender and partly to help protect his face in case Tammie ending up accidentally spilling that steaming coffee. “I give up,” Lucien sighed. “I surrender, I swear.”

The summoner didn’t really want to surrender, but there wasn’t exactly much he could do at the moment. Not with the way he was feeling. He didn’t know if he could even stand up, let alone run away or fight.

He managed to turn though, shifting his body to be able to look at what else was actually happening inside the Big Top.

And both his eyes and mouth widened in surprise, confusion and horror at what he was witnessing…

Estelle, fighting Crispin.

What… what was going on?
What the heck’s going on?!

Estelle gasped and grunted in pain as she felt her body involuntarily move against her wishes. She was locked in horror at what was happening, the sheer madness of her body moving against her thoughts and wishes, to jump at and try to punch Crispin despite desiring no such thing. The particular way in which she clenched her fists and cracked her knuckles, the deliberate manner in which she rose to her feet again and turned threateningly back towards Crispin. She was doing none of this, and yet for some reason… her body was!

What the heck was going on?!

“You!” Estelle shouted at Vance, the regal aristocratic ringmaster turning his attention away from Abram to cast a cursory glance towards the redhaired girl. “What the hell are you doing to me?!”

Vance tilted his head slightly, looking down his nose towards Estelle, and then simply looked away without answering, back towards Abram. The big and powerful, muscular man coughed, the adrenaline that had been surging throughout his body beginning to calm down.

“Abram is… not sure. These and… a few more, Abram thinks.” The Beast Tamer replied, scratching the back of his neck as he did. “Max sent two of them flying into the air,” Vance’s sight was directed to the small hole in the ceiling of the tent. “And Sammie and Cammie went after another man.”

Vance stared towards Abram, considering the answer, and then nodded, his expression betraying no particular emotion towards the question. Abram sighed again, and then turned back towards Crispin. Despite the burning that the fire brawler had done to Abram’s hand, he didn’t seem to either notice it or bear any ill will or sense of desired revenge for what Crispin had done. If anything, Abram seemed… sullen. As if simply upset by everything that had happened.

“Little man, Abram thinks it best if you simply give up now,” The Beast Tamer spoke in an even voice. “Little man is badly outnumbered, and the rest of little man’s friends all be… all be…”

“Incapacitated,” Vance helped.

“Da.” Abram nodded. He folded his mighty arms over his broad chest. “More fighting simply mean more hurting… for you. Why not just stop and talk this over, da?”
On the far side of the Big Top’s performance ring, opposite to the scene developing between Vance, Abram, Estelle and Crispin, the circus’ Ringmaster and owner, Guinevere Phillis, had stepped onto the scene and in one fluid motion, calmed both the out of control panda Petra, and subdued the illusionist Aria before she could even blink. Pinned to the ground by the unimaginable weight of one of Guinevere’s dolls, she could only look up in disbelief and confusion at what was going on. How could this…?

And then horror, as she saw the feet that belonged to her adversary Isabella stalk towards her.

"Isabella, darling, are you all right? Are you hurt?"

“Nothing other then my pride, Guin,” Isabella replied, as she stood next to her cherished friend, looking down at Aria, and the wretched mess that looked back up. Isabella closed her eyes, dispelling her anger and irritation that had grown throughout their battle, and brought herself back to the calming, inner piece she treasured so much. “I am sorry, Guin,” Isabella spoke up. Guinevere turned back towards her, surprise creasing her delicate features.

“Sorry, Isabella? Whatever for?”

“This. All of it.” Isabella’s outstretched hands emphasised the scene around them, and the various pieces of damage that littered about it – from the overturned and destroyed seats, to the charred remains of Crispin’s fire damage, the hole in the tent ceiling, severed tightrope and the other pieces of evidence from the fight that had transpired. “If I had been better… quicker and more decisive to act, this wouldn’t have gotten as out of hand as it did. I’m sorry.”

“Well now, there’s no need for you to be sorry, my dear,” Guinevere lifted one of her gloved hands to Isabella’s cheeks, wiping away the drop of tear that was beginning to trickle down. “This wasn’t your fault, now was it? All of this, I’m sure, will be over very very soon…”

Phillis Circus: Outside

“What the shit, Sy, where the fuck did we put it?”

Outside the perimeter of the circus, beyond the metal fencing that served as the circus’ bounds, Moira and Syed had hurried as quickly as they could to the point where they had stashed their weapons. They were fortuitous enough in that during their trek to this spot they hadn’t encountered any of the other outside battles that had been occurring – as they went around the Big Top’s massive tent they went around the side opposite to where Lute’s battles had been occurring, and on the other side they managed to completely avoiding nothing the commotion that Trixie and Xandra’s ending fight had had with Poppy and the two stilt siblings thanks to the massive crowd of people between them. Syed had wanted to check out what all the smoke was about, but Moira had been adamant in retrieving hers and everyone else’s stuff. If they were going to properly fight, then they needed them.

“It’s here,” Syed said, pointing out the spot where they and Aria had hidden their equipment. As he crouched down to remove the artefacts uncovering the spot, Syed’s features contorted in confusion upon noticing the majority of it completely missing. Everything other then…

“Ere we go. About fucking time.” Moira bent down and lifted the great sword up, dusting it down and stabbing it into the ground as she turned to begin fitting her armour back on. “Right. Now we can show those idiots who the hell they’re messing wit-”

Moira’s speech was interrupted by a great big buffeting gale sweeping about them. The sensation was all too familiar to that of the man they had just been fighting against; the human cannonball Max, who moved and attacked at such shockwave creating speeds that he resembled a human rocket. Moira spun on the spot, gritting her teeth and preparing herself for the inevitable impact…

…only for herself and Syed to be surprised at what they saw appear before them. Amidst the dying down winds, a man gently lifted a woman whom he had been carrying in his arms down to the ground.

“Never again…” The blonde woman spoke, clutching her forehead with one hand and her stomach with the other. “Even if that was quicker then walking, never again. I think I’m going to be sick…”

“Amy!” Syed shouted. “And Marcus!”

“Oh!” Marcus’ attention was jostled by the sound of his companions. “Syed and Moira. Hello… fancy meeting you two here… outside of the circus?” Marcus looked confused, but smiled his usual gentile smile at seeing his friends again. “Thank the gods we’ve found you. What’s going on?”

“Payback,” Moira grinned, strapping her greatsword around her back, and taking her first step back towards the circus. “A whole shitload of payback!”

Mmmmaybe

*goes to watch FMA:B by his lonesome*

How is everybody today? All happy and good, I hope? <3 Everyone's doing absolutely wonderful within the IC, I'm so excited atm I can't even 8D Panda rodeo is genius Kathi, pssh. As is Poppy's whirlwind fan technique and Kei's post with Lute looking after civilians was written to her usual wonderful standard <3 I love what all of you guys have done and I'm super excited for Rex's next post. No pressure <3

Fie on you all! A pox I say! A pox!

Aki said Sounds like a cool idea. For people with similar time zones of course. But I wouldn't know.

People wouldn't need to be in the same timezone - it's not watching the episodes at the exact same time but rather watching a set amount at their leisure during the week and then catching up for discussion funsies afterwards!

But it's all understandable. Your losses!

*runs to go watch*
So guys, had an idea and was wondering if anyone else was interested in it. Anyone down for a weekly tv series watching club or something? We tried this idea once before with Avatar: The Last Airbender but er... I ended up getting bored. Idk if that was down to it only being 3 episodes a week (so bump to something like 5-6?) or just not being that interested in the series, buuuut...

Phillis Circus: Outside

“Trixie!” Xandra exclaimed, finally finding the prankster after their splitting apart from her earlier smoke bomb. The metallurgist looked worse the wear, moving with a painful grimace at the fray nerves screaming agony from her prosthetic. Even despite this, she had ran over to and retrieved Estelle and Lute’s swords and Aria’s knives, running as desperately as she could with them in hand, even as red lines streaked past her from Lily and Stevie’s laser visors. As the final remnant of Trixie’s smokescreen began to dissipate, Lily’s form became fully visible, striding forwards with another relentless burst of laser fire that destroyed the ground just in front of Xandra. If she had turned to the side in time, she would have been hit directly by it. For now, she was lucky.

“Xan!”

“You again…” Poppy turned to see Xandra approach her and Trixie, readying herself to block the woman from rejoining her partner. Xandra frowned as she dashed forwards, glancing to her side at the strange pair of legs making their way towards Poppy as well. She turned again, dodging another volley of laser fire from Stevie, and booted the pair of legs in the shin, hard. Poppy’s face contorted in twisted agony from the hurt, and Xandra gave them another swift quick for good measure.

“Trixie! Another smokescreen, please!” Xandra called out, running past Trixie. The prankster, hopping back onto her feet after Poppy’s shoulder barge, obliged. Much to Lily, Stevie and Poppy’s annoyance, the ground exploded again with yet another all consuming smoke bomb detonating to blanket the area in a thick grey fog.

“Foolish girls…” Behind her metal visor Lily’s head shook. Her vision had been shifted into that of a heat vision spectrum – smokescreens were useless against her. She charged and primed her laser once more, watching as Trixie and Xandra planned to use this smokescreen to mask their retreat, the hum and glow of her laser growing brighter and brighter and brighter…!

But then ceasing and dying down upon seeing Trixie and Xandra disappear behind a conglomerate of tents and vanish out of sight. Lily could have fired, but destroying their own property was not something they should have gone about doing (unlike, say, Max). She stopped, turning to her brother. “Are you alright, Stevie? You’re not badly hurt, are you?”

Meanwhile, running as fast as they could to maximise their distance away from their enemies, Xandra and Trixie finally came to a stop, huffing and puffing as they crouched inside a tent.

“Ha… ha… Trixie… are you okay?” Asked Xandra, setting the heavy weapon down on the ground for the time being. She gripped her prosthetic again. It’s all in the mind, she willed to herself. It wasn’t anything serious… she just had to remind herself of that. What was more important was getting these weapons back to her friends in the Big Top… that’s all. But saying it was one thing, the reality was another. No matter how many times Xandra insisted it to herself, her arm still hurt with unbelievable agony.

Phillis Circus: Big Top: Peformance Ring

“You think you big tough man, da?” Abram asked from behind Crispin, shocking the young fire brawler back into realisation of his surroundings. Tammie’s surprise attack had, for the moment, completely distracted him, leaving him vulnerable to Abram from behind. He couldn’t believe it, he was sure he had put enough distance between himself and the beast tamer that such a thing like this shouldn’t have been possible, but indeed he was there, and his mighty powerful arm swiped down, grabbing Crispin before he could react. Getting beaten around a lot like he had by Isabella and Abram already, maybe that made him more tired and disoriented then he thought… or was Abram simply faster then he could imagine?

“Nraggh!” Crispin howled, as Abram lifted him in the air with his hands squeezed around Crispin’s head, slowly crushing him, hoping to smother the air out of him.

“You set fire to circus, hurt innocent animals and pick on little girls whilst running away from mighty Abram, hmm?” The mighty muscle tamer snorted hot air from his nostrils. He kept the flailing Crispin at arm’s length, making it impossible for the brawler to possibly connect any punches to Abram’s vital areas. Occasionally, in his blind struggle he managed to punch Abram’s arm, however for Abram, a man so far embroiled in anger… it felt like a tiny mosquito buzzing away. He simply increased the pressure over Crispin. “Big, tough guy! Not so big or tough now, eh?”

Abram glared at his prey with an intense, penetrating stare. “You stop struggling little man, and this be all over lot easier, da? Abram doesn’t like popping tiny head like little melon.”

“Get off of him!” Screamed a voice from behind. Abram turned to look over his shoulder at a charging Estelle, dashing as quickly as she could to her partner’s defence. Abram simply stepped to the side, and with his free hand shoved Estelle back. The sudden of his action, as weak as the gesture was, threw her to the ground, unexpectantly dropping the katana. Recovering as quickly as she could, she jumped forward to grab it again, but a mighty boot stepped on top of the blade, making it impossible.

“Little girl, do not make this harder then needs be, da?” Abram shook his head from side to side. “You remind Abram of his own precious daughters. He would not like to harm you if he can. But if Abram must, Abram shall. Give. Up.

“Give up?” Estelle glared back through gritted teeth. “Estelle… Fenix… never gives up! Especially against people who think it’s alright to kidnap people!!”

“Kidnap?” Abram frowned. “Whatever does little girl mean?”

Phillis Circus: Big Top

Peering down, Isabella was lodged in disbelief at the destruction of the tightrope and the surprising body of Aria below her. A body very much alive and well and still fighting, not at all like the one she had been fighting seconds ago and who she had sent plummeting to a seeming death. She narrowed her eyes and knitted her brows in frustration at the sight, not knowing how such an act was possible. She looked down at where the Aria she had fought had fell, and saw no still body lying there.

So then it wasn’t real? It was simply an… illusion?

If only circumstances had been different. This woman would have been a wonderful addition to the circus. Perhaps in another life, the two could have even been friends.

But such a luxury was not afforded to them. Not after everything Aria and her friends had done. Isabella leapt for the rope, sliding down it to meet Aria back down on the ground.

In the interim however, Aria still had her own troubles to occupy her with. The panda Petra, whose fat Aria had taken advantage of to cushion her fall with, had returned to consciousness and picked itself back up. It now glared at Aria angrily, rising up one of its paws to suddenly swat down on her.
lol yeah

For a while, me, Buns and another former player (Taerinn) used to play FF14. My character was Estelle, and Tae's was Selan/Lisette (although I never got to play with Tae, sadly). Me and Buns played a few times, so it was kinda surreal seeing Estelle and Syed questing together hehehe.

Iirc Buns and Rex have both made Tales characters in the Sims, and Rex made every character in Dynasty Warriors. XD
Look at all that clutter @ FF14 screen. Geez

So Kathi how's the LARPing experience going? I've never done it before so I'm pretty curious

*Pach puts on his robe and wizard hat*

Phillis Circus: Outside

“Well well, lookee what we got here!” Max grinned, his hand snatching the spinning pole in midair and clutching it tightly as he continued to blast his way around the circus, turning to once again shoot off into the sky on a return dive towards Moira and Syed. He hadn’t actually intended for his shockwave to loosen the woman’s hold on her weapon, but he wasn’t going to argue about it. It was just the kinda thing he could use!

“Watch yer feet, ma’am!” Max called out, swinging the pipe out and catching Moira’s feet from under her, sending the woman reeling over and crashing to the ground on her rear. Yet more expletives left Moira’s lips as Max surged ever onwards, back into the sky again, higher and higher.

He then stopped, relenting on his attack slightly to hover in the air instead, focusing and channelling his power just so to keep him aloft but still. He could continue to run rings about the pair like before, and it was plenty of fun doing so as well, but that would end up draining his stamina mighty fast. Those two fellas were more tenacious then a wild rattle snake from back home, so he needed to try and think of some way in order to put an end to this little fracas for good.

Whilst in the sky however, he took a moment to look over the rest of the circus and assess what else was happening.

The Big Top still seemed to be intact, and not a completely blazing inferno so far, which was good. He guessed the others must have been dealing with the little hotheaded arsonist but good, and hopefully his little sweetie pie was feeling right as rain too. The Big Top didn’t look to be the only place where commotion was abrewing though…

…outside of it, in two different spots on either side close to two of the tents’ exits were another pair of fights. Smoke was eventually dissipating on the west side, the one closest to the circus’ main exit, and he could see the release of red lasers shooting across it. Lily and Stevie then, dealing with some more troublemakers, then. And on the other side of the Big Top, to the east, he could see a number of Abram’s beasties fighting against a giant grizzly…! And his own honey down there too!

“Uh oh!” Max screamed, rapidly diving downwards.

Before Lute’s very own eyes, as he raced towards the threatened tents closest to the beastial battle unfolding between Lucien’s bear summon and both Lidya and Olga, he watched as the magician girl Sammie suddenly disappeared from his sight, a trail of fire and smoke leading up into the sky. Fortune seemed to be smiling down on him perhaps, but there was still Elena in his path.

“Hey honey!” Max grinned to Sammie. “You okay, boo?”
