This sounds like something that'd benefit a lot by waiting for Mahz's user generated worlds ideas, since making so many diverse threads throughout the forum just sounds overly complex and messy. I think it'd be very difficult to maintain player interest when the action like this is happening all over the place.
HEY GUYS

HOW ARE YOU ALL DOOOOOOOOOOOING 8D

Weekend here weekend here!!

Nice going on record speed writing, K! :D

Heyas Kathi! This is what you get by having an attractive lady speak to a member of the Capuello 'Family', the implication that they're being asked on a date at the best, or GETTING MARRIED at the worst. :>

Hope you guys are all doing fab! Weekend heeeeeeeeeere!!

EDIT: Gonna get a Don post up now and then update Estelle's section later after Lisette and Aria have reacted :)
*Is the GM Rex mentioned*

Everyone here has hit a lot of solid points. I'll add some more that I think are important.

Wizard (and Rex) hit the nail on the head for one of the reasons most GMs fail, and that's that a lot of rps here start up from initial excitement to an idea but that excitement trails off and very few of them are actually thought out and properly planned. Knowing where you're going and what you're doing is important - although naturally having every storybeat in mind from the outset isn't fantastic as it stifles player contribution, but having stuff in mind planned storywise that you yourself want to see is a good self-motivator, and it just helps keep the rp focused too. I feel players can sense when a GM doesn't know what he's doing or if the rp's heading in a general direction, and that'll eventually show negatively.

But that's not all. People who choose to be GMs should also think and plan beyond just story beats and figure out how and in what way the rp is being run and why. For example, I structured my rp in such a way that it was divided into chapters and that each chapter had a different theme or setting, which helped maintain my interest in the rp because I get to write for different situations rather then be stuck pidgeon holed into one genre, which I feel is something that can eventually help lower interest. Other things such as plotting co-gm chapters where I work with my players to share their own ideas, take the lead and for me to step back a bit. It's also rewarding to help guide my players to hopefully gain the confidence to become GMs later too, perhaps. For the GM I'm currently GMing (which has been running for over a year now) after a failed first try I waited a year before restarting it and planned and considered lots of ideas for both the story and how I'd run it as well as gauge my interest in it before starting.

Communication is the other key factor, and this helps to improve player's interest in an rp too. Honestly, compared to anything and everything else, communication is the main biggie. As has been suggested, talking to people and making friends is incredibly important. I don't just run my rp now because I want to see my rp's story develop, I do it because I want to hang out with my friends and have fun with them. They are my inspiration. Ialso like to incorporate their interests into the rp and see how they react to things I do in the rp (especially an upcoming plot twist I've been waiting two years so far to reach... |3c). It's a nice feeling. I come onto the site everyday to see their wonderful writing, develop the story we're developing and talk about anything and everything, be it music, video games, films etc.

And honestly it's very, very flattering to have Rex say everything she has from watching the way I GM. That makes me happy (and is good motivation to keep on GMing! |D Thank you Rex).

Saying all that though, at the end of the day whilst suggestions and advice can be given its ultimately down to the individual and self motivation. GMing takes a lot of time and responsibility and it's something people who wish to be prospective GMs should really consider and think about before they start an rp. For the most part the time it'd take to do an rp and its story justice should be relatively long I think, given the nature of the medium (and say how some posts for interaction between players could amount to like a minute, and if that's one post a day or later then yeah, story's gonna last a while and rp take a lot of time). I'd personally love to see people who try to GM an rp do so for at least three months before bailing, the latter being all too common far too quickly. Players dropping out is always an occurence and something that is annoying, but a GM bailing out is even worse and a major motivation killer, since they're meant to be the leader and guide of an rp whom players put their trust in, and if it happens often enough it can breed distrust in expecting any rp to last long. And if you're an rper making a character and want to join an rp and become invested in that rp's story and world, then... yeah.

A Co-GM or several is helpful for those who might struggle singularly, since they'd be there to help inspire everyone to keep going through the sharing of ideas etc, and it helps take the weight of responsibility off a person's shoulders too and share it out. And, in contrast to what I said earlier about GMing for at least three months (something I feel prospective GMs should aspire to) if someone really does not feel the motivation to continue being the GM, then they stop immediately, because feeling like that doesn't benefit the rp and will instead cause future problems for themselves and their players. If such a problem is occuring then talk with the players, let them know. Maybe inspiration will strike and things will work out so you can carry on, or maybe the interest is gone, in which case another player could take it up (if they so feel it) or they can know to look elsewhere. Having the feeling like you're on a sinking ship but not knowing for certain is really not fun whatsoever, and players' free time should not, I think, be used on an rp that's probably not going anywhere.

Best of luck!
The smiley face one XD

Los Paraidos: Pellagio Casino: Texas Hold'em Poker Table

“So, when do you get off work?” Aria finally asked. “If you really do have information we need, we’re going to find somewhere better to discuss matters.” A grin lit her face. “Maybe you could join us for dinner? The more the merrier, right?”

“H-h-huh?” Clive stammered, looking straight up from Marcus towards the radiant beauty towering overhead. Clive’s cheeks quickly turned red, and steam poured out of his ears. He leapt straight back up to his feet again. “D-d-dinner? You’re asking me t-t-t-to go out on a date, sis?!”

“Oh brother,” Estelle slapped her forehead.

“I’D LOVE TO!” Clive shouted out, bouncing on the spot in absolute joy. He didn’t understand how on Ddaear this came to be, but he wasn’t going to stop and ask. He figured that this was simply the magic of the casino at work again, and why he loved to work here. Big winners were born here. And now… now he was one of them. But then suddenly…

“B-b-but I’m at work until midnight… siiigh…” Clive’s crestfallen shoulders sagged immensely. “W-what about tomorrow? I get off at 5! We could go see a movie too?”

“Oh brother!” Estelle repeated again. Clive turned quizzically towards her after picking up the sound of ‘bro’.

And then the ground began to rumble and shake. Everyone’s ears pricked up at the sound of something very loud and odd, drawing closer and closer.

“What is-”

“MARCUS!!”

The wind mage was bowled over to the ground again, after already being in mid effort to stand again. This time he crashed on the ground, with Josette lying atop him, her hands gripping his cheeks and already in the middle of a full on smooch. Estelle, Aria and Lisette could do nothing but watch in amazement, and growing embarrassment…! As Kapi continued to just blink. Clive stared transfixed, before giving Aria a quick glance, runaway thoughts in his head of her doing the same to him. It was such a pleasant image.

“What the hell are you doing?!” Estelle yelled, snatching the back of Josette’s collar and throwing her off. “Where the hell do you get off?!”

“Ah, sorry Marcus…” Josette apologised with a sly wink. “I just couldn’t help myself!”

“Hey Big Sis,” Clive nodded to the Capuello brothers’ leader.
8D @ Tae's Stamp of Approval~ Excellent \m/ Don't knock your post down, Tae, I read it as being set before Moira's crew turned up at the table :) And good luck with your day, Danni!!

Speaking of music, anyone else have some good hangover inspired musics? :>

I should hopefully try to get an Estelle post up, but its kinda late and I need to walk my doggy and have a bath and I just finished watching the Shining and oh my god what a film that was! I'd love to do an rp with that kinda vibe and feeling. *o* Would a chapter like that work in Tales? lol

But yeah, I hope to get an Estelle post up since it should be short too. 8]

EDIT: And it's up 8]

Brother and sister are more alike then they might like to admit huehuehue
Hey there everyone! Looks like this week is another one of those super busy and lame weeks for everyone, huh? D:

That's quite alright Fox! I hope your days are fun, even though they're so busy ^^ Lucien and Xan will be well looked after by us- oh. 'Well looked after'... >w>; Play sounds fun but getting up at 4 just sounds... super poo... D:

Good luck with uni applications, Kathi! Don't stress out too much, I'm sure you'll get the university you want!! :D Have fun at choir too!!

Ahh, Tae and K, good luck with the weather! Wouldn't it be nice to live in a thunderstorm free world? D: K I hope your essays and scholarships go okay ;A; *big hugs*

Danni, Buns, work D: How lame and poop it all is. :/ This week has been abolutely hell and I still have Friday and Saturday to go. Bleeegh hold me

I've gotten a Don post up so far but I'll have a short Estelle/Marcus post up before I fall asleep :)

Everyone's writing has been superb lately. I laughed really hard at the thought of Selan and Lucien being Trixie's parents and Amy getting addicted to the slot machine Trixie was at (the two of them having a closer bond then they thought or SUPER EVIL ADDICTIVE SLOT MACHINE?) is hilarious. Dylan, Moira, Syed, Aria and Xan have all been simply fantastic as well! Really cannot overstate how happy I am and thrilled at everyone's writing. It's just been fantastic.

I think we might have another few more days for the casino (until the end of the weekend, perhaps?) before we have our characters meet Thunderhawk and move to a certain restaurant for a quick briefing and a bit more group interaction. And after that...

Los Paraisos: Pellagio Casino: Roulette Table

“Ooh, ooh! What game’s this?!” Don screamed, spinning around and cutting up the Pride’s conversation by butting himself in-between Dylan, Moira, Syed, Trixie, Selan and Lucien. Small bits and pieces of his hulking stack collection trailed and spilt along the floor, when then, all of a sudden, Don suddenly plonked the whole massive stack onto the table, pushing it forward.

“I know this one! This is called… er… rulers, right?” Don grinned.

“Roulette, you idiot!” Moira huffed again.

“Roulette! That’s it… oh! Selan! Littler Bro! Little Missy!” Don eyes suddenly lit up once he noticed his friends had arrived, and Don lunged forwards for a powerful hug of Selan. Whatever negative feelings he felt concerning himself and his similarity to his father during the events of Vandrell had all been momentarily discarded, lost as he was instead of the rapture and fun of the Pellagio casino. In contrast to the slow, agonising month prior where Don had tried his best to keep his distance from Selan, now… just seeing her lit up his world far brighter then any of the flashing slot machines. And with Selan dressed and looking as she was, she was simply gorgeous- with no man possibly being able to resist. It was as the saying went: “Time and distance made the heart grow fonder.” For Don, at least.

Selan, however, sidestepped it quite effortlessly, and instead Don ended up headbutting and tackling poor Lucien to the ground, the two men lying in a messy pile on the floor.

“Ah, your bet, sir?” The Roulette dealer asked, the ball already in process of spinning.

“Ah! Cleric Sis!!” Don screamed. “Red or black?!”

Amy, transfixed as she was by the spinning images before her with every tug of the lever next to the machine, didn’t even look to Don. The answer was of course obvious from her.

“One… more… go… red… one… more… go…” Cling. Clunk clunk clunk. Brrrrrrr.

“RED!” Don’s fist shot into the sky, the only thing visible over the edge of the roulette table to the dealer.

“Red it is then,” The Roulette dealer nodded, using one of the casino’s crutches to position the giant pile onto the red betting section. “Betting is now closed.” The dealer waved his hands over the betting area, confirming that no more new bets could be made, before standing back up with his hands clasped behind his back.

“You pillock!” Moira screamed again at Don. “You just won all that and now you’re betting it all?!”

“I’m with my friends!” Don smiled back from off the floor, Lucien still trapped and dazed underneath. “I’m feeling lucky!”

“It’s stopping, it’s stopping!” Trixie bounced up and down. And sure enough it was, the metal ball slowing down in its rotation around the roulette wheel. What was originally a blur of red, blacks and golds now became clearer and clearer, the numbers marked on each segment of the wheel now coming into focus. And the roulette ball… slowing down even further…

“RED 7!” The dealer called out.

“Woohooooooo!!” Don screamed again, now having twice the number of chips he originally had. Trixie and Selan’s own eyes widened in disbelief as they saw their bet return 35-1 of the original bet.

“I’m putting it all in again!!” Don suddenly pushed his gigantic stack forward onto the table again, the towers of chips leaning over and collapsing, spilling everywhere. “Selan, Selan! What number should we choose?!” Despite Trixie being the one to choose the number, it was made on Selan’s behalf, so Don considered it her bet. Whilst a certain other player…

“FUCKING BOLLOCKS!” Moira screamed. Red 7? Red 7? Why the fuck not Red 9?? What the fuck?!
