Los Paraisos: Pellagio Hotel: First Floor Corridor

Moira, Syed, Lucien and Xandra’s distractions had worked to great effect. The tsunami of paparrazi were overwhelmed and confused by the Pride’s actions, with many crumbling under muttered whines that their equipment was frazzled by the setting off of the Hotel’s sprinklers, whilst others bolted in opposite directions to where the Pride had fled to from Xandra and Lucien’s shouts – the second floor and the ladies’ facilities were where the paparazzo turned their investigation.

However… the Pride were still on the first floor, running down the straight corridor with some of the quicker paparazzi behind, following behind Crimson Justice, who had Dylan’s body flail in the air behind him like some kind of fabulous cape. The superhero’s plan was… well, typical of the man beneath the mask, in that it wasn’t particularly smart and carried its own sense of ludicrous logic. He was going to run and lead his friends in a full circle back to where they were, hoping that the cluster of reporters were gone by now and that the elevator was safe to use to reach the lobby in.

“Hold on… you… stupid… idiot…” Thunderhawk panted through gasped moans. The stocky ranger, whilst sprite and agile in fast paced sprints and close quarters combat, couldn’t take running a marathon any longer. Especially in a faux, illusion bred dress. And that’s when he came to a sudden realisation.

Why was he running? He didn’t care if this band of clueless, vapid reporters were interested in Selan, Don, or that ridiculous spandex clad ‘super hero’. Why would he?

He stopped running. Screw that. As he did, a mass of other paparazzi squeezed past, the last vestiges of those who hadn’t been stunned completely by the sprinklers or turned away by Lucien and Xandra’s ruse.

“Oooh, that Chirps!” Aria grunted loudly as she looked over her shoulder at him. Whilst she couldn’t deny he sort of had the right idea to just stop running (wouldn’t that be fantastic right now?) she also couldn’t just abandon these people. A small smirk crossed her lips. If that was how he wanted to play it…

Another scream echoed down the last corridor that everyone had turned off, as they started to run down the final corridor back to where they started. Aria had just dispelled her illusion powers on that irritating man, leaving him completely naked for a third time.

But, there at the very end, blocking the stairs Marcus, Thunderhawk, Aria and Xandra had ascended, and the turn to where the elevator was, was another gaggle of paparrazi who had stayed behind just in case. The path ahead was blocked, and behind them, the small collective that was left was catching up. Crimson Justice skidded in his tracks, Dylan crashing into his back with a small ‘whoof!’

“Darn!” Crimson Justice swiped his fist through the air. “This way!”

The superhero booted the down the door nearest to them, which led to a fire escape. It was their last chance!

Los Paraisos: The Bucking Bronco

Freddie looked back at the little girl in disbelief, whistling with amazement at how quickly and happily she had stuffed down the bevy of omelettes and apple juice he had prepared for her. Whilst she was tucking away into her breakfast, he had placed a call to the Pellagio Hotel. Or, more accurately, he had tried to. For some reason, the lines were busy and he couldn’t get through. Which was fine, he instead decided if needs be he could help accompany her to the Hotel after her breakfast was finished.

But halfway through, Trixie suddenly stopped, her eyes wide alert like a deer caught in headlights at the sense of… something happening. A twinkle sparkled in her eye.

"Mister Freddie, I need to go outside right now. Where's the outside from here? And do you have a cape I could borrow?"

“Outside?” Freddie repeated. “Child, I don’t… I don’t think it’s safe for you to go outside alone right now. Where do you need to go? I can help you.” The stripper replied with a determined nod. “As for a cape, well… I have… something you could use…? Let me go get that and sort out that hair of yours too, then we can go.”
Hello everyone.

I'll be posting later this day. Upon reflecting on things yesterday, I've figured out a couple of the rp's problems that I'd like to solve and me taking a break does nothing but compounds that. I don't really want to take a break at all since that adds to the issue although with how busy the majority is atm I don't think it's something that can be immediately fixed, but I digress. IC wise, I'd still like to push things forward and I'd also like to discuss the problems I think the rp is suffering from and hopefully solve them.

There are two problems which basically co-join together.

I don't know about anyone else, but I feel this chapter has gone on for far, far too long because the pacing has gone downhill and dropped to a snail's pace, and I'd like to get this resolved. I haven't been keeping count but it feels to me like this chapter is closing in on two months long, and for a chapter like this that's way too long. We should be nearing the end of this chapter already but we're still a long distance away from it. Things are moving very, very slow. I'll explain the reason why I think this is, which is also another problem in its own right but is affecting this one also.

I don't think there's enough proactive posting occuring- instead people are focusing more on regurgitating the contents of prior posts and reacting to that without offering much to extend it, bar a line. This is not always the case of course, but it feels like it's happening a fair bit as of late.

I won't lie, this last week has been a tremendous effort for me to stay motivated to post, as it's felt like I'm the only one who's been pushing things forward. For example, in the last few rounds I had 1) Don suggest everyone move to the elevator so they can get going and search for everyone, with the exception of Selan everyone seemed rooted to the spot. I was hoping for people to actually post with characters getting on the elevator, have it move, have them encounter the paparazzi or whatever people liked and not much actually happened, neccessitating me to do so. After that, 2) I had the elevator stop on the first floor after seeing the paparazzi. People didn't really do... well, anything bar react to what they saw. There was no forward movement or progression of anything, which again made me have to move things on again with 3) Paparazzi swarm that led to not much reaction but everyone's characters starting to run (with the exception of Moira and Syed who were standing still) and it's just... it's difficult for me to respond. I've got little inspiration there to work from. I'm not sure why people couldn't have described a chase, hiding, being found, escaping, or whatever you guys want. Lately it feels like I'm pushing everything forward constantly with little forward input from anyone else and it's hard to stay motivated like this, when it's extremely difficult to build off little. It feels at times like it's basically me writing a novel? (I haven't read Buns' latest post yet, but I do know it was posted after I was chatting to her about this yesterday, so yeah.)

I'm not sure what the reasons are. I know people have been extremely busy of late, and maybe they're too tired/don't have time/don't care enough to think of how to move scenes forwards? Maybe people are timid/scared of doing so in case I negatively react? Or people just feel that it's okay to be passive because I'll push things on regardless? I don't know. I feel like some of the best scenes and examples of people pushing scenes forwards are those where I've not been present, such as the beachball scene or scenes where characters are alone and I have no guiding prescence? Do I actually, ironically enough, constrain peoples' creativity?

I'd like thoughts and opinions, agreements and disagreements on this please. Ideally I'd like people to regurgitate less of what's happened in a prior post, since I don't see the need to read the same thing happening multiple times, although I do do it as well I'd like to see it lessened, and to have more forward progression of something, anything happening, whereas lately it often feels like one line of new content which is where the pacing issues come into play.

At the end of next week I'd also like to start seeing consistent posting from everyone. I know how busy everyone is next week and so I don't expect it right now when people are overwhelmed and innundated with exams etc, (good luck Fox, Rex, Tae, Kathi) but the only way for something like this to work is through consistent activity.

Other then that:

What about you guys? Any thoughts, opinions, problems about anything else? How do you guys feel about the rp and this chapter? Are people still interested or starting to lose interest, and why? Any problems you're facing that you'd like to try and get solved? I love this rp too much for it to die (which I don't think we're in any danger of, but at this current rate we'll be experiencing more problems then not), and if I can improve things I will. Be honest, guys. How's everyone feeling?

Hope you all have a tremendous weekend! Sorry for drama llamas.

We made it in the new you guys- we're "Tough Mudders"

I wonder who mentioned that in the news~
Hey everyone!

Congrats on your bard, Buns!

Enjoy your concert, Rex, you deserve it! The Diamond cover is awesomeeee. Good luck with your speech presentation!

Sorry to hear about your accounting exam, Tae. D: Good luck on your retry though!

Good luck with your finals and papers, Fox!

Hope you're having fun in L.A, Kathi!

Enjoy your 3 day weekend, Danni, you lucky arse. You totally owe me and Buns for that.

I haven't caught up on the ICs yet, but I wanted to ask you guys a question. Does anyone think we should take a little break for now considering how busy the majority of our group is, with tests and essays and finals etcetc? I've noticed that for the most part our group is getting hammered over this weekend and early next week, and just wondered if everyone here would prefer a small break in general. I don't think it's really preferrable or advantageous to keep pushing the IC forward atm if it's only going to get a few responses each day. Thoughts?

EDIT: Actually, scratch that, I'm going to take a few days off from the IC. If people want to continue posting, then by all means do so (I'd actually appreciate it) but I'm taking a short break. Have a good weekend everyone!

Los Paraisos: Pelagio Hotel: First floor

Collecting their breath, the Pride stepped out of the elevator and onto the first floor, at a loss with how to accurately respond to the bedlam below. Dylan burst out laughing at the prospect of Selan cheating on Don with Crimson Justice, whilst the rest of the group deliberated how to get out of the Pellagio and somewhere they could get some food, and answers with the dilemma they faced with the baby.

"Syed has a point," Selan agreed, pushing her dark, wavy hair back over her shoulder with her free hand. "I'm assuming this 'performance' took place at one of the nearby clubs. Maybe even the lounge in the hotel? That might be a good start..."

"Are we even going to be able to get through the lobby though?" Lisette asked, wondering if the crowd would follow them from floor to floor.

“Guys!”

A distant voice called out to them from down the corridor. As one, the group turned, to find Marcus, Thunderhawk, Aria and Xandra racing towards them in a hurry – all of them looking as noticebealy worse for wear as they did. Aria and Thunderhawk looked to be wearing each others’ clothes, and Xandra…? A clown? Only Marcus looked to be the normal one of them all.

But at least that was more of their friends accounted for, and despite their strange sense of clothing, hopefully they had some answers of what had happened last night. Now all they were missing were Estelle, Trixie, Josette and Kapi…

“GREETINGS, GOOD CITIZENS!” Crimson Justice burst forth from the crowd, flashing a brilliant pose towards the quartet. “How are you all- why are you running so fast?”

And then they felt it. The ground rumbling beneath them. A vulcanous sound that was only growing louder, and louder, and louder. The sounds of gabbling voices ascending to greet them. And then! From the end of the hallway where it turned in two directions, they appeared, charging themselves straight at them! The crowd of paparrazis, cameras flashing and microphones connected to tape recorders held out towards the Pride.

“GODDAMNIT WHY ARE WE RUNNING!!” Thunderhawk screamed, bypassing the Pride and leading them to begin running away from the crowd.

“We need a way out of here…”

“FOLLOW ME, CITIZENS!” Crimson Justice bellowed, sprinting ahead of Thunderhawk. “I SHALL LEAD US TO SAFETY!!”
Oh, haha, my bad XD But again, congratulations on that, and good luck with your math test today too :)
D: @ missing speech class but :D @ getting awesome results on your math class (how the hell did you get 59/58 in a Math class?). Congrats for that, Tae! ^_^

And congrats on the safe landing, Kathi! Enjoy L.A!
Wow @ Midnight Game and Three Kings rituals :O We should have the Lost Souls play it... >|D

And remember kids, eat your fruits!

Have a safe flight, Kathi!!

Los Paraisos: Pellagio Hotel: Penthouse Suite Floor

In quick time, the Pride had agreed on making a move. As much as their bodies and heads hurt like hell, they didn’t have the choice to retreat into their rooms and collapse on their beds. If the issue of their missing recollection of last night’s events wasn’t enough, finding their missing partners, the parents of the baby Selan was carrying and an explanation of Syed and Amy’s marriage most definitely were. Selan made a beeline towards the elevator at the end of the corridor, hoping to enquire with the hotel lobby about the baby’s identity and missing parents, lest they get caught up in any troubles that the child may have been kidnapped.

“Hold on, let me get my shit, I’ll get changed in the lift. Come on you tit, let’s go.” Moira rudely yanked on the bond her and Syed shared, dragging him back to their room to quickly snatched whatever was available. At the same time, Amy walked on, neither saying anything nor batting an eyelash in anyone’s direction. She just strolled straight past.

“Huh,” Dylan tilted his head, looking first to Lucien then Lisette. “I didn’t know Amy was inside too.”

They wanted to say something, anything, but it was clear from the blonde’s expression she wanted to say nothing to anyone. And for everyone else, they didn’t want to risk it. They knew what that glare was. The precursor to the mighty hand of god.

“Oh! Hey! We found Miss Amy!” Crimson Justice bounced in jubilation. “Miss Amy, Miss Amy, do you know where-”

SMACK

Crimson Justice’s body was sent reeling in a daze, his helmet spinning around over and over before it gradually grew to a stop. Backwards.

“Yeek!” Lisette shrieked. “Miss Amy killed Mr. Justice!”

“No, no, I’m okay.” Crimson Justice replied, grabbing his helmet and twisting it back around straight. Lucien meanwhile, chuckled. “Anyway! Come along, brave citizen! I’ll hold the elevator door open for everyone!”

The blazing superhero turned and sprinted down the hallway in a mad dash, passing both Amy and Selan and calling for the elevator to ascend. Once it did, he stepped in and held the door open for everyone else to follow and stand in. Lisette, Dylan and Lucien caught up after Selan and Amy entered, followed lastly by Moira and Syed, with Moira finally getting herself changed.

As Crimson Justice pressed on the button for the ground level, the elevator suddenly jerked and bounced, before smoothly descending. Nobody said a word, until-

“So Mr. Justice, what’re your superpowers?”

Los Paraisos: Pellagio Hotel: Lobby

“Man, that was… something…” Thunderhawk still whined, a dull pain aching through his extremities. He glanced up towards Aria, who looked even more worse for wear then before. Not that he was particularly bothered, but even so… “You… okay?”

And then his sight fell down on his body again. His eyes narrowed.

“Why am I back in a dress again?”

"There you guys are.”

A voice to the side marked the return of Xandra in that ridiculous clown outfit, doodle marks scrawled all over her body as she blankly looked towards the ranger and illusionist. Something about seeing her like this in this eccentric throng of crowds was even funnier then before. Thunderhawk couldn’t hold in a guttural laugh, but immediately regretted it once debilitating pain overtook his head again. Last night was a real bender, alright…

“I managed to find someone.” Xandra continued, flicking her hand to the pair to follow her. With a grunt and a sigh, the pair did, pushing their way to the one of the lobby’s far walls, just slightly out of the frenetic crowd to somewhere they could catch a breath.

“Marcus,” Thunderhawk nodded, to the raised curious brow of the Wind Mage once he saw Aria and Thunderhawk, both wearing each other’s clothing. He said nothing, not knowing what exactly there was to say, and Thunderhawk’s expression betrayed all in how he had no desire to explain it either. “What the hell is going on in here? Why is it so packed with people? And have you seen anyone else?”

“I haven’t seen anyone else so far, no.” Marcus replied. “Xandra’s the first person I’ve met so far. I don’t remember anything about last night, peculiarly enough… do you? As for all the people here, you’re not going to believe it, but-”

DING

”OH MY GODS THERE SHE IS! IT’S MISS LECLAIR! SELAN!!”

The crowd roared as once, and a hundred bright flashes assaulted the opening elevator doors at the unsuspecting Pride. The people closest to the elevator surged forwards, camera and microphones pointed in their direction. Hotel security staff began rushing forwards to try and control the chaos.

“MISS LECLAIR! PARAISOS TIMES! WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT LAST NIGHT’S PERFORMANCE? IS IT TRUE YOU AND MR.CAPUELLO HAVE BEEN GIVEN A RECORD DEAL BY PARAISOS PICTURES?”

“MISS LECLAIR! ARTAR GAZETTE! WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE TO MR. CAPUELLO’S PROPOSAL?”

“MISS LECLAIR! CELEBRITY MAGAZINE! HOW DO YOU RESPOND TO THE RUMOURS THAT YOU’RE CHEATING ON MR. CAPUELLO AND ARE ACTUALLY HAVING AN AFFAIR?”

“MISS LECLAIR! WHERE IS MR. CAPUELLO?”

“MISS LECLAIR! IS THAT BABY YOURS?”

“MISS LECLAIR!” “MISS LECLAIR!” “MISS LECLAIR!”

“CRIMSON JUSTICE!!” Another voice shouted out. “LOOK! LOOK IT’S CRIMSON JUSTICE AS WELL! HE STOPPED THAT RESTAURANT FIRE LAST NIGHT! MR. JUSTICE, SIR, SOME WORDS FOR THE PARAISOS TIMES?”

“MISS LECLAIR, IS IT TRUE YOU’RE HAVING AN AFFAIR ON MR.CAPUELLO WITH CRIMSON JUSTICE?”

“MISS LECLAIR!” “MISS LECLAIR!” “MISS LECLAIR!”

A gloved hand reached forwards and pressed the button for the next floor up, the elevator doors slowly sliding shut.

Crimson Justice leaned back in his spot, turning to look around at everyone.

“What the balls was that?” Moira spoke for everyone.
“What the hell was that?” Thunderhawk turned to look at his partners.

“Come on,” Marcus tilted his head to the nearby stairs. “Before this crowd follows, let’s see if we can’t catch up with everyone else first.”
