I wonder if this place would ever run a proper Play By Post with dice rolls and whatnot.

The average life expectancy of RPs here leave something to be desired.

Ah yes, looking up words in Google Translate. Used an actual paperback dictionary back in the day, but still - looks like I'm back in the saddle.

It's not the size of the brain that counts, it's how you wield it

Well?
@Peaceless yes there is a future but your not going to get to real missions by failing the practice ones. What exactly do you need from the guard so Ezekiel can do his own thing?

Oh I am not worried about failure. At best, the nature of the missions will change to accomodate the party's abilities. At worst, the program is scrapped and the PCs are left to fend for themselves, which is what Ezekiel is doing anyway.

Now, the question is, is there an advanced materials lab in the facility?
@Peaceless
What is the point of the scientist responding if he isn't going to complete the mission?

You're asking what Ezekiel is doing? He's trying to become more powerful. He does not see the mission's value so he instead focuses on the future. There is a future, right? Where we will be doing real things.
Yes he has. But the world was not destroyed, and the science guys are still science guys. And the facility still stands. The world should respond. The mission is not the only thing that exists in it.

Or is it?
@Peaceless I don't mind you not wanting to control the whole plot but I don't want you to not have a say.

Well, as far as I see it, the outcome of the two options is the same, and the difference is whether the PCs fail or succeed. I prefer them to fail, i.e. Vlad ends it.

I'm busy interacting with the NPCs. I prefer the main storyline to be outside my control, and thus I do not vote.
Any and all types of coordinated assaults required dialog between the operator and their team, from complicated stuff like target allocation and munition suggestion to simple stuff like confirming a given order or reporting an advancement in individual mission objectives. 2020 found speech to be very inefficient for this, given that he found speech to be very inefficient in general. Thus, he chose a small collection of sounds to represent short answers - a 'ding' for "Orders received and confirmed", a buzzer for "Unable to comply" and a chord for "Objective complete". There was, of course, the small problem of him being unwilling to hear orders to the end before confirming them - and thus Rika's comm filled with dings when she said "2020".

His mission received, the droid moved further away from the squad, using what little elevation provided by the forest edge around the encampment to improve his position. He performed a sensor sweep of the tents, marking all potential targets, while the northern sentry was marked as first priority. By the time he reached his chosen spot, the rail rifle was already unfolded to its full ridiculous length, and charged for the first shot. A chord sounded on the comm, signaling his readiness for the coordinated strike, once three targets were lined up - the sentry, a man in a tent behind him sitting on his folding bed, and one of the men around the campfire. The targets were moving, making the droid's finger twitch with impatience at the huge gun's trigger.

A barely visible burst of purple light drew the northern sentry's attention, but he couldn't make out what it was. He squinted, but that only made the forest dimmer, in the darkness. His arms were too tired to switch the sensitivity of his nightvision goggles - it was a hard shift, and he hoped he would be replaced soon. The trees seemed to be coming closer now, as well as the ground... Somewhere midway to falling face down into the dirt, the rebel decided that his part in this war was done, that it was time to rest. The others could take over, couldn't they?

Behind him, beyond a tent with a blood-splattered wall, a lifeless rebel fell sideways into the fire. A few seconds later, the thermal detonators on his belt erupted, throwing chunks of hot wood and shrapnel at the nearest soldiers, blinding those who took off their helmets to relax and didn't shield their faces on time. Some of it fell on the tent's wall, lighting small fires on the tarp covering its entrance, but the rebel inside didn't mind, lying on the ground in an uncomfortable position, his face missing as if removed by a giant dull blade.

"THREE TARGETS DOWN, PLUS UNEXPECTED CHAOS, REPORTED." 2020 chimed, following by another "objective complete" chord. He holstered his rifle to let it recharge, drew the blaster, and began advancing into the camp.
"Only scientist are allowed in the libraries. You will have to have one of them get whatever you need. You experiments aren't allowed to have maps. You are restocked to certain areas. The guards could tell you where though areas are." the scientist explained to him.

"That's... really?" Ezekiel was losing his cool. This prolonged social encounter was wearing him out, and he had to stop it before it would cause unnecessary suspicion and even more delays. He almost preferred getting "punished" right now - The whole riddle thing was frustrating and confusing. He suddenly realizes this may be a sink-or-float sort of thing, the head honcho giving out a random mission and whoever's lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time wins.

Wait a minute...

"Alright, this still helps. And your next coffee is on me, once I find the cafeteria that is." he smiled wearily at the scientist. "But for now - is there a lab here that focuses on research of heavy metals or natural magnetism?"

He stopped caring about the riddle. He would simply have to become powerful enough to break the fourth wall.
Okay, finished reading the IC. How do I join? Maybe a leftover of 1st squad? Or maybe wait until you guts get a little shot up?
@Peaceless
Oh sorry mate, didn't know. I can change it to a darker shade of red if you prefer.

No, it's too late, the damage is done.

I hope you have nice loot that would pay back for that bullet I'll be saving up.
