I keep coming back here very so often, as if it would make my wanting to return any better. I don't know why that would be. I would just disappear again and regret it again, I'm sure.

"My apologies about the interruption," Hijikata had spoken up again. "Things are a bit busy. As for your request, I believe we can accommodate a tour of the Andromeda. Given the unlikelihood that both of our vessels would use Wave Motion technology, a comparison would certainly be welcome."

Benead nodded, pulling up info on the hangar conditions to the side. "Very well. Given our conditions, shuttle use will probably be the best way to go about this. It would be best that each of us remained aboard our respective ships, of course," James motioned to the Admiral and himself. He paused for a moment, sending a call for Atterberg to report to the hangar. "I'll prepare a shuttle with one of my lieutenants, as I assume you may. We'll keep in touch if something goes wrong." Benead allowed the Admiral to respond, simply nodding in agreement before Communications spoke up again:

"Captain, we're being hailed by the ships that threatened hostilities. It would seem we stand out to them."

The captain narrowed his eyes in concern. The implications seemed rather poor, and that fact that they responded specifically to them... "I'm afraid I'll have to cut this short. I insist we keep this on standby until we can ascertain we are not at risk right now," Benead reported to Hijikata, then allowed Communications to cut the connection to open the channel with the other ship.

"This is Commander Alexander Lorne of the Battlestar Columbia," The opposing figure immediately opened the topic. "We hail from the other Twelve Colonies of Kobol and are currently meant to be engaged against Cylon Forces. We respectfully ask for your assistance in ascertaining our location and if possible your assistance to help the twelve colonies against our enemy."

James Benead leaned back again. This was starting to get very uncanny: so many other ships were jumping to this specific location, all of different design and likely different origins. If his own ideas regarding this being some sort of temporal displacement were correct, then it was entirely possible that all of these ships were from different universal timelines, yet still all held some sort of ties to Earth. Benead cut his pondering short to respond.

"I am Captain James Benead of the UFBS Jotunheim," he began, slowly and carefully, "And I must apologize, Commander Lorne, for there is a misunderstanding here. We are not aware of any 'Colonies of Kobol', nor do we know of any 'Cylon' species. If you would allow me to explain my reasoning, I have already reached the conclusion that most of the ships present in this space, including yours, Commander, has each been seized by some sort of temporal displacement."

A light pause to straighten up, and speak more firmly. "Simply put, each of our ships has been torn from our respective spaces and timelines, and brought here. I cannot say for sure where 'here' is, as we cannot determine any likenesses to our own home galaxy; as such, we could certainly be welcome to help determine where, and perhaps even when this place is." Benead allowed for the other ship to express response, and continued, "However, we personally have our own, separate war to fight, and so I can give no guarantee we can spare any aid in your fight against the Cylon."
I was hoping for Asphyxious to post again, but I'm not sure how active he is right now. I might just have Sazh dash on by himself, if he decides nobody else thinks the matter is as pressing as he thinks it is.
I had to reread it a couple of times. I thought you seemed to be referring to contacting two different vessels, so I initially wasn't sure which one the message was for because I didn't see any explicit implication at first.

Sci-fi terminology is weird sometimes.
Sep, is that message in your second paragraph for the Jotunheim? I find it a bit hard to interpret your wording there.
That unsure feeling Sazh had continued to flare up listening to the creature's words. So everyone that was here had been here, for who knows how long. And it wasn't just them; there were other Challengers, too. But they had all died, or otherwise failed the challenges. None of that was at all particularly reassuring to the l'Cie and his experience with gods. Who was to say that this time would not be different, and that the Viewer was just being insincere?

The mage with the glasses suddenly popped his head out of a higher window and invited the red creature inside to elaborate further. Apparently getting inside the hotel was an honor, to the whooping lizard-thing. Sazh had the same idea as Saber: as tempting as it was to learn further of this world, they all set out here to do missions, and missions was what Sazh was going to do.

As the pilot looked back to the snowy forest they had come from, Sazh caught sight of a burning streak across the sky, amidst a flurry of fireworks. The blaze flew down sharply before crashing down... somewhere in the forest. A handful of moments later, and there was a dim, but wild stream of lights emitting from around that same area.

Then it hit him: Wasn't that spot at least very close to where they had come from?

"Uh... hey, fellas," Sazh spoke up nervously, "I think we might be getting some commotion back in that copse." He was motioning for nobody in particular to follow, while sidling forward to strain out what might've been various shouts coming from the forest.
Fine, geez, have a post. [/sarcasm]
"Acknowledgement from the Andromeda," McKellen reported, moving to open up their channel with them. The main viewport filled with the digital video feed of the Andromeda's bridge. An aged man in a uniform of obvious naval design spoke up as Vice-Admiral Ryu Hijikata, and confirmed their desire for a partnership. The younger James Benead seemed to register a brief smile at the sight of the Admiral; the fashion was decidedly retro, more fitting for fancy dress back in the Space Corps, but it gave that image of a firm, wise commander. James wouldn't admit it, but he wished he could have the chance to be in that kind of uniform more often, rather than his plain, yet embellished jumpsuit.

"Well met, Admiral. I am Captain James Benead of the UBFS Jotunheim," came Benead's response to Hijikata. "We are glad to hear you accept. I feel our cooperation will not be difficult, in regard to our similarities." There was a bit of a pause as he glanced about his bridge crew, all looking in expectation.

"If you are not opposed to a tour, I'm sure we could each both benefit from seeing how the other incorporates their use of Wave Motion technology, as well as exchange any information we know about this location." That got a couple of mixed reactions from his crew, but James did not waver his vision towards the Admiral. Captain Benead was convinced that the Andromeda would not mean any harm, as long as they understood all the technologies and ideals they had in common.

"Captain," McKellen piped up again, attracting Benead's attention. "We're getting a broadcast from a new ship. Playing:"

"Attention unidentified vessels, this is the Battlestar Columbia. Identify yourselves immediately or we will be forced to take aggressive measures. Repeat, this is the Battlestar Columbia, Identify yourselves immediately or we will be forced to take aggressive measures."

The message echoed throughout both bridges, the two captains listening intently. As soon as the playback ended, Benead spoke again, "Reply with our identification. Nothing more. Check in with Newark again regarding our weapons condition." McKellen nodded and got to work. Turning back to the viewport, Benead continued talking to Hijikata when the Admiral was done with his own orders, "I still stand by my offer, Admiral. I'm certain we can be good allies."
Hmm. I don't know.

Also, SHIT'S GOING DOWN WITH THE TOUHOU PARTY
The response from the various species of locale were about as best as could be expected under these circumstances: the worst the ragtag group got was a few sneers and muted insults. Sazh was quite welcome to the scenario, where he could walk out into a public area and not immediately be a target for the government law enforcement. The relative disinterest in the party was a bit of a relief, too; Sazh wasn't sure of how prepared he was to fight anything in this world yet.

But then, there was always an exception. And that exception came against the disinterest in the form of some sort of strange red lizardman. He was already spouting out his educated guesses about how the party were the "Challengers", as if this was some sort of destined thing to occur in this world. It returned to Sazh the idea of the The Viewer being an omniscient god, and with that establishing his own world. The creature's near-casual depiction of the consequences of whomever else presumably went into the hotel brought forth the other half of that idea: gods were capable of creating just as well as they were of destroying. That speaker's volume and dialect didn't really help much, either.

Perhaps it was something along the lines of deja-vu, but the l'Cie just had a bad feeling about this that he couldn't quite pinpoint nor shake off. So the best he could do was roll along with it; and so he did, following up into Saber's response to the red creature, "Challengers? So~... I guess the Viewer has been making a big deal about this, huh?"
Hm. i don't much frame of reference of comms tech available for R-Type, but I would assume video chat is capable given how high-end the Jotunheim is supposed to be.

I guess if I really wanted to, I could be OP by firing all 15 of my fighters' Wave Cannons at once. But I won't do that, unless there is a difficult epic moment where it can be warranted.
