@Nex: That's true. Even if I had war orders right now, I probably wouldn't use them to build up a fleet. I'm trying to get out of debt, not sink deeper into it.
I was the first to criticize the UR's decision to go to war, and I still think it's wrong, but I see the opportunity in it. It's messed up, but the UR will probably profit a lot from it.
Hey, at least that was a long-lived treaty. That was two months ago.
Pasta insisted I posted a treaty to go with our deal so everyone saw that our (potential) friendship is happening gradually and not all of a sudden.
Article 1: In the interest of promoting friendly relations following a short period of hostility between the nations of Austria-Hungary (then the Austrian Empire) and the United Republic of Great Britain and Ireland, the two signatories hereby agree to exchange military officers for a period of three (3) years. Austria-Hungary will send Army officers to help in the training of the British Army. In exchange, the United Republic of Great Britain and Ireland will send Navy officers to help in the training of the Austria-Hungarian Navy.
Article 2: The signatories agree to promote a state of prolonged friendly relations between the two. Should hostilities arise again, the signatories agree to pursue a peaceful, diplomatic solution and refrain from the use of threats or military force.
Article 3: The signatories may renew this agreement at the end of the three (3) year period.

Aside from my brief alignment with the Eighth (for opportunistic reasons mostly), there are no friendly relations between Germany and Austria. It may seem like it, but that may be because I haven't had a chance to show it. We've had some talks in Chatzy though that make my stance pretty clear. I'm not continuing hostilities with Germany, simply because there is nothing for me to gain on that front anymore, so it's not worth fighting. But I'm not being super friendly with them either. It took So Boerd a bit of persuasion just to get me to agree to consider opening friendly relations with Germany. And in the end, all I agreed to was a small deal that benefits us both (to do with improving my industry). Austria is by no means a close ally though. Not an enemy, but not an ally either.
That's what I've been sayin' in Chatzy, but apparently I'm a bad person for pointing it out.
Aaaaand, we have Germany.
