Current Today I reached the conclusion that, if presented with an exact duplicate of herself, one of my characters would DEFINITELY hit that.

They're not LONG chapters; but the fact I've managed to right 2 meh and 4 half decent ones in 4 days makes me very happy with myself.

Name: Garen Waldgrun

Age:27

Companion: Agrus Grau

Physical Description: A rather tall, fairly thin young man. Garen has sharp, intelligent that eyes are a slightly yellowish green, while his face is narrow and pointed. He has deep brown hair, cut short but messy, and wears a simple black tuxedo with cobalt blue bowtie

Personality: Very polite but uses informal wording when speaking. Garen is less inclined towards the darker side of humanity than many of his contemporaries, instead enjoying playing with the positive emotions within his writings to instill a sense of wrongness or fear. In spite of his skill in playing with the emotions of his readers, he is quite a poor conversationalist, becoming easily withdrawn into his own thought and sometimes seeming to entirely drift off into some other plane of thought. Some tabloid magazines report that he is being tested for some mental illness, though the accuracy of these claims remains unknown

History: Born into an ordinary family, Garen always loved books over interacting with other children. Particularly his mother’s collection of classic horror, psychological and occult tales inspired his imagination, but it was in the atypical, the postmodern and scientific creations that truly made him want to write for a living. During his early childhood he spent much time hanging around his similarly aged cousins, reading nearby while they played together. He occasionally joined in, but was usually the first to lose in sports and physical games. The four cousins drifted apart in the later years of their childhood as two of them had to move away, except himself and Agrus who continued to keep contact throughout high-school despite attending different schools. Garen graduated with high marks across the academic classes.
He wrote his first published book when he was sixteen, which while it didn’t fail never amounted to much, and has never stopped writing since. His first hit book was an occult horror novel set in the near future, that rapidly spiraled into the list of best selling books across the spectrum. His crowning moment so far has been the most recent publication, a tale of a man trapped in a paradise world that is slowly collapsing around him, like a program starting to fail, and only he notices the small inconsistencies that start to build up. In the second half of the book, the problems start vanishing and fixing themselves when he tries to catalogue them and point them out to others. The book ends with the world running smoothly again, and the protagonist being left paranoid about the world around him.
Garen’s invitation arrived in the mail, encased in an envelope from his publisher. Research into the name on the invitation led him to find the Acheson name is the primary stockholder for his publisher. He felt obligated to attend, despite not usually being one for social functions.

Connections with Other Characters: to be decided

Other: One incarnation of my favorite OC, his design is flexible so i can adapt him into nearly any setting.

Name: Agrus Grau

Age: 26

Companion: Garen Waldgrun

Physical Description: Short and extremely wiry, Agrus has blood red hair. It is naturally quite curly but he prefers to keep it in dreadlocks that reach the base of his neck, disliking the default state. He has piercing green eyes with a somewhat predatory look to them and and oval face with smooth but strong, almost serpentine features. He wears black slacks and a white button down shirt with a dark brown vest and no tie.

Personality: Somewhat notorious for his bad attitude, he almost always ends up threatening people at some point, despite rarely acting upon it. Agrus has a reputation in his usual circle as remaining eerily calm even in the midst of heated arguments, and at times almost emotionless during a fight. In spite of this, he is quite outgoing and sociable, able to play nice extraordinarily well in formal events, although he makes it quite obvious when he is angry, betraying his mood through body language more than words or actions.

History: Part of a large family that were well enough off to never need for much. Agrus had a bad habit of getting into fist fights that started at a young age, most of which he started himself. He never seemed to come home with any bruises due to his natural agility. He spent much of his free time when he wasn’t fighting other kids with his three cousins, mostly gravitating towards Garen as they got older, who he considers his best friend. As the four become older, two of them had to move away, though Garen and Agrus still lived near each other during their high school years.
It was in his senior year that he was recruited from a local MMA club by a major promoter, and he rose through the ranks astoundingly quickly. He is on the firm belief that it was his own natural skill and harsh training that facilitated the quick rise to the top, harshly shutting down anyone who tries to suggest otherwise. He held the featherweight title for nearly a decade before deciding to retire from the sport while he was ahead and still able to function without the help of a machine. Having saved most of his prize money by living in basic and humble accommodations and not splurging on unnecessary objects, he has just enough money put away to live comfortably for years to come.
Recently, Agrus received a call from his cousin Garen, who was now a well known author, inviting him to attend as his cousin’s plus one to a fairly exclusive social event. Never one to avoid the limelight, he accepted.

Connections with Other Characters: to be decided

Other: another flexible character from my arsenal, tends to be more aggressive types, I named him after the most badass character from any book ever, Agrus Kos from the MTG ravnica cycle books.

So, given how both of my characters will have some level of renown depending on a persos interest(ones a well known athlete the other a best selling author) anybody figure their characters would be familiar with them if they get accepted?
The pairs approached the forest temple, by chance all arriving at the same time and still early in the day. It wasn't much of a temple anymore - more a run down, crumble semi-circle of pillars and flagstones, with a few walls. Arranged in a half circle, nestled in the protection of the remaining parts of the temple itself, were 22 pedestals. Each held either a blade of some sort or the matching sheath, except two which had obviously already been gathered.

Closer inspection revealed that the blades available were:

An ornate rapier with a crystaline basket hilt resembling a pair of folded bat wings. The matching scabbard was next to it, a simple thing made of brushed steel and decorated with faint, swirling etchings.

A worn broadsword with a simple round pommel, and a beaten leather sheath to go with it. The stitching on the sheath has started to fray at both ends.

A well cared for scimitar with several minor nicks in the blade and next to it is a sturdy, well oiled and cared for leather scabbard.

A slim estoc with a half-moon guard and a stylised human with four arms and four legs embossed on the pommel. Engraved on the blades in elaborate script are the words 'From Dust We Come'. Beside it rests a dark leather sheath with symbols of the four basic Dust elements stitched down one side in golden thread.

A simple gladius, looking almost new, and a simple sheath. A closer look at the sheath reveals that it has been stained with blood at one stage.

A clean and sharp cutlass with some sort of sea creature scratched into the blade, with a reinforced plastic sheath to go with it.

A broken katana with a rusted tsuba shaped like a dragon, it's badly damaged bamboo sheath looking like it will fall apart on the pedstal next to it.

A large, springsteel cavalry sabre and its sturdy kevlar sheath.

And a rainbowed titanium Jian with a Nevermore themed guard and feather tassel. Beside it is a bone sheath with red markings, similar to the designs found on Grimm masks.

As the partners move forward to choose their relic, another four burst out of the forest behind them. The leader of the pack has a bright orange mohawk and his partner is identifiable by a green pontytail. The other two are very similar in looks, cousins would be the guess of most people, with one having grey hair and a shock of purple in his fringe, and the other having purple hair and a shock of grey in his fringe. They darted through the gathered applicants and swept up the Jian and it's matching bone sheath before bouncing back the way they had come, racing towards the cliff once more as they let off jeers of 'Slowpokes!' and 'Losers!'.

next round is an all hands on deck situation, AKA a full RP collab. no time limit on this one due to sheer scale, it wil be one post, likely put up by me, containing all of our actions leading up to the teams splitting and fighting their respective 'boss monsters'
Alright, I'm putting up the GM post now, but i'm requiring the round proper to be a bit diffeent. we'e going into a huge fight scene setup so we need all hands on deck. Spirit sent out a request for gmail adresses, that's so i can give you all access to the doc we'll be using for it.
because of the sheer scale of this, we'll be requiring some semblance of order, so order of action is CLRT followed by NCTR, in team order, with the boss grimm in between teams
Now, what specifically needs expanding, or just the details in general?
it was more a preemptive while i figure out if they know anyone else.
the reason my rough drafts are already decent is i keep my entire arsenal of 40+ characters on a template system that lets me hot swap a few details to adjust for nearly any setting.
Not an official application, but here's the rough drafts for the author and the retired-before-30 MMA champ.

I swear I'm actually really good with characters. these will be a much better fit.
I'm still mulling over a pair of characters, ones that aren't horribly poorly thought out.
Both male, cousins, a sci-fi/horror author and a former MMA featherweight champion.
