Let's see if I can run one of these strange and wondrous forum RP's after years of instant messaging, eh?

Oh dear, it would seem my initial interest post is somewhat lacking for the new information--

Let me put it this way then;...You've pandered, my dear Syrian Hamster. You've pandered quite well! I'll likely wait for you to iron out your own ideas before asking any of my own questions...mostly due to me being horribly lacking in questions at the moment. I'm more reactionary than proactive, I'm afraid, but I will try to contribute rather than just sit here like a limp cloth that flutters about when the wind stirs.
Hmm... I certainly have no quarrel with what you've pitched. Consider me 'interested'-
Hmm...Interesting enough! You can count me in should this pick up off the ground ^-^
I apologize for my own absences, but I'm still interested as well. I will, unfortunately, still be sporratic for about a week though.
A very interesting proposal, one I find especially peculiar to think about. I've never tried to classify myself into a roleplaying standard before, and as I read the two listed categories I find that I lie somewhere in the middle ground, so conforming to either one will be a rather new sensation.

Leaving my personal standing and quirks aside, I can see how your categorization can help keep the two standards seperate, yet not overly so. It would be simple enough for someone to, per se, 'try their hand' at the Advance style coming up from a 'casual', and equally simple for someone to 'relax' and be a more laid-back casual. The only real stipulation being paragraph limits and tighter grammar restrictions- the character limit is rather superficial.

The simplified character sheet is certainly simpler xD I can definitely see this idea of combining the two 'classes' of roleplayers panning out.

I'm sorry if I comment on something incorrectly or in a strange manner; I am not used to having roleplay categorized in such a manner (based on skill/length... The idea just seems...segregational to me), nor am I used to the forum setting.
That description of advanced, Derp, is extremely amusing xD ERRR MEEEHHHH GEEERRRRDDD MY CLOTHING BILLOWS IN THE WIN-

But i myself, in all seriousness, have not participated in an 'Advanced' classified roleplay myself. I'm willing to learn and try though.
Interesting... I myself will likely wait until the ooc/ic thread to pump out a character just for convinience sake

As for the background- it is fine, in my opinion. It fits the rugged realism Xcom/Unixpu should have.

The character sheet is just as extensive as one would expect for a UN run organization xD
I like the sound if the first one, but Two does seem like a viable backup option.
Agreed; middle option allows variety whilst keeping realism in tact.
I am relatively fresh to the xcom world- enemy unknown being my only personal experience- but i have to admit to having created backstories and personalities for my squad on many an occasion, even going so far as to have their personalities impact how I played them as I immersed myself in the conflicts xD

Character driven and combat oriented can indeed go hand in hand; detailing our character's lives as they relax at HQ- just to suddenly be whisked away to an abduction/assault at a moment's notice!

As for setting- my only personal experience would be 'enemy unknown', so 'near future' is an admirable outcome- but I'm fine with researching any necessary information should the need arise.

As for starting point- my personal preference Always leads to as far before a key conflict as possible; Recruitment/training. It allows for adequete character development whilst allowing for the suddeness of an alien invasion to spur on further development and changes-- however, it is understandable if many wish to skip this. I have no single preferance for this, but if i had to place a vote it'd be 'at xcom before any major event' just for the sake of skipping possibly tedious (for others) recruitment/training situations.

Naturally, i'd be fine with whatever is decided- but that's just my little perspective
