Alright, so as you might have gathered, this RP focuses on the human side of your average kaiju story. When Megalon or Gyaos or Gappa begins trashing Tokyo, someone has to organize the evacuation, lead those tanks into battle, and come up with the brilliant plan to defeat or at least slow down the rampaging behemoth. That someone is you.

You play as either military personnel or a civilian adviser attached to the White Gloves project. It's up to you to answer the hard questions and routinely figure out how to handle a horrible nightmare scenario. There will be plenty of player efficacy, and your actions will have consequences- mishandle a situation, and you may be responsible for many deaths, or even killed yourself.

However, on the flip side, it is entirely possible for players to completely change the world around them. If the players' weapons and tactics are effective, expect armies across the world to adopt them in their own fights against this encroaching enemy. Scientist characters especially have this opportunity. Studying the creatures can result in huge leaps forward in biology, studying weapons against them huge leaps forward in engineering or applied physics. Yes, it is possible to eventually build mecha in this RP and use them to punch kaiju in the face.

As a final note, flavor art notwithstanding, this is a wholly original universe- King Kong, Gamera, Godzilla, or other established monsters will not be making appearances.

Character Sheet Templates

Up to two characters are allowed. This is intended to be an ensemble RP, so everyone is intended to have a chance in the spotlight- something to keep in mind.

The Rules

1. All rules of RPG apply. If you are unsure of these rules, please check here.
2. As GM, my word is a lamp unto your feet, and a light unto your path. Please pay attention to the things I ask. I have final say on character sheets and in-game events, though I will happily discuss any issues with you.
3. I do not approve of godmodding, breaking the fourth wall, munchkins, metagaming, or the various forms of ruining the game for everyone.
4. Please include the phrase "no brown M&Ms" in your CS to show you've read through these rules.
5. You will NOT (initially, at least, pending in-game developments) play as kaiju or mecha. I repeat this simply to avoid confusion.
6. Please discuss issues in the OOC. I would much rather see people talk out differences then storm out of the game or hurl insults at one another.
7. Finally, cut loose, have some fun!
I think we've had enough interest to justify putting up a thread. OOC to follow.
Well, as I said, they will vary. Some can be hurt by small arms, others can shrug off artillery barrages. To reiterate, creative thinking is key to this RP. Maybe building a giant solar-powered laser will stop this kaiju, or maybe this one needs to be killed by luring it to an insecticide plant and blowing it up.

Looks OK.But no Jaegers? D: I mean, killing a giant lizard has never been more fun since someone in Pacific Rim had the idea of comparing a freight ship to a baseball bat.

Well, they aren't initially available, true. At the outset, we're basing it off real-world technology. However, it would certainly be possible to introduce them at some point in the RP itself. A good character arc for someone might be convincing the nations of the world to invest in this technology, then the rigors of finding a suitable pilot and putting it through field testing. All, of course, dependent on the White Gloves' level of success. It would be a process of years in-game.
They will vary, really. You might face a single 100 meter creature, or five twenty meter creatures. There's no uniform size, though I'm not going to be that guy that makes you fight something the size of a continent.

The monster itself won't always be the only challenge, though- sometimes the people and politics of the area in question cause difficulties, or someone seeks to profit off the kaiju, that sort of thing.
Your health comes first. You're in good hands at Sinai, some of the best. Rest up, I hope you're feeling better soon.
On April 16, 2015, the United Nations Security Council released a historic and unprecedented resolution. In light of the recent events in Italy, Jamaica, and of course Okinawa, it was unanimously decided radical measures had to be taken to confront the new enemy. With reports of gigantic organisms on the rise all over the globe, action had to be taken.

The result was the formation of the United Nations Kaiju Research and Combat Initiative (UNKRCI). Member nations donated both scientific talent and military units to the new program, intended to function as a highly mobile "fire brigade" responding to the appearance of potentially threatening giant monsters. The media, finding the acronym UNKRCI awkward, instead latched on to the distinctive white gloves worn by the soldiers, airmen, and sailors under UNKRCI command. The nickname has stuck, even before any serious deployments.

This is the story of the men and women of the White Gloves.

So, if like myself, you're a big fan of giant monster movies, then you'll notice that the conventional military tends to get slapped aside pretty easily, and it's up to an equally giant monster or mecha or whatever to save the day. Which is all well and good, but for myself, I'd love to see the conventional military step up to the plate and solve the problem. In this universe, there are no mecha, no guardian kaiju- just brave people willing to put themselves in harm's way.

Accordingly, this RP focuses on a multinational team of scientists and soldiers dealing with the sudden appearance of gigantic creatures all over the globe. The weapons and science at their disposal is pretty much the same as we have right now, so no giant robots or mind control (at least, not initially). Lateral and tactical thinking are key to this fight.

Of course, you'll have plenty at your disposal. Soldiers under your command will be a multinational force, donated by UN members. For example, you might tackle a creature with Danish bombers, Canadian infantry, Australian artillery, and Indian armor, and of course the local forces. Not to mention whatever the science boys come up with- exciting new weapons, analyses of a creature's behavior, or maybe even visitations to the fringes of science, like ESP.

TL, DR: X-Com meets Godzilla.

A few notes.

1. This is not a Godzilla, Gamera, Pacific Rim whatever universe RP. This is intended to be completely original, with all of us helping to build a fictional universe. The Age of Monsters is just beginning. The rules of engagement, tactics, all the groundwork and precedent will be laid by your characters.

2. You play as normal human beings. Not mecha, not kaiju. I wanted this to be abundantly clear.

3. The White Gloves are not universally accepted just yet. Many see them as a waste of time, crackpots and interlopers in domestic policy. Not everyone wants their help. They will, of course, need to distinguish themselves.

So, does this appeal to anyone?
