B!tchfest: a healthy release for our non-roleplay annoyances.

One of my better employees quit in the middle of our busy season. No written notice, no warning, not even so much as a phone call. He just didn't show up to work the other day and hasn't been back since. His reasoning, once I finally got ahold of him- it was busy.

I try not to take these things personally, but this feels like a betrayal, like he turned his back on me at a time when I needed help.

"That's a handy spell to keep in your back pocket," Max commented as the room began to smell like a beach. It felt positively balmy in here now, rather than numbing, cutting cold. Much easier to operate.

"Obviously something went out through that back wall. A construct, a homunculus, maybe even a summoned demon. We'll have to look through the books," Max declared. He quickly began to scan the magical tomes. Countless hours in libraries had taught him to separate the wheat from the chaff, to figure out what was worthwhile. Max scanned the titles for anything related to cold, weather charms, constructs, or summoning. As a secondary priority, he looked for worn covers, books that were obviously consulted more than others. If he could piece together what this mage had been working on then it would be much easier to undo the damage. He also kept out an eye for anything that looked like personal notes.

Yeah, sorry, I guess I went a little off the rails there. Just got excited. Geography is just something that interests me, I even surprised myself with that list and even then I know I left several cities off, but I'm sure you don't want to hear about them.

Well, buckle yourself in and prepare to take this all with a grain of salt. Again, these are suggestions, you're free to take them or leave them. I'm ignoring that these things can fly and just going for cities right there on the ocean. Especially ones with economic or military importance.

List of Cities

NORTH AMERICA
New York City/ Newark- Huge city, also the biggest port in the United States. Huge death toll and economic chaos to boot.

Houston- Fourth-largest city in the US, second-largest port. Same as above.

Boston- Sits right on the Atlantic, densely populated.

Savannah, GA- Kind of a dark horse, but a VERY important port and a good-sized city. If the aliens in the movie were willing to attack Anchorage and Cabo, these guys could hit Savannah.

Quebec City- High population.

Havana- High population, national capital, not much exposure in media.

Norfolk/ Newport News/ Virginia Beach, VA- Important navy bases as well as heavily populated cities in their own right.

Panama Canal Zone- Not a huge population, but would cause economic chaos.

Panama City- Technically on the Pacific, but only ten minutes from the Atlantic. Huge city, plenty of skyscrapers.

SOUTH AMERICA
Maracaibo- Big city in its own right and also a massive oil producer.

Caracas- Huge city, national capital.

Natal, Brazil- Huge city, center for oil industry.

Recife, Brazil- Huge city, medical hub.

Salvador, Brazil- Huge city.

Rio de Janeiro- One of the world's largest cities.

Sao Paolo- One of the world's largest cities, and ports. Capital of a powerful nation.

Montevideo- Large city, national capital.

Buenos Aires- One of the world's largest cities, capital of a powerful nation.

Rotterdam- One of the world's busiest ports, an attack here would cause economic problems across the world.

Hamburg- Large city, busy port, naval bases.

Copenhagen/ Malmo- Large cities, Copenhagen is capital of Denmark.

St. Petersburg- Huge city, one of the country's largest ports.

JAEGER NAME: Olifant Rouge

DESCRIPTION: Gideon is a massive, powerfully built man. He is around six feet five inches tall and 250 pounds with especially broad shoulders and big hands. He prefers to dress in uniform and is nearly always smiling.

PERSONALITY: Gideon is a cheerful, boisterous man with an infectious laugh, the type to slap you on the back and tell a joke, the type who declares you his best friend after knowing you for only an hour. He enjoys a good fight, maybe a little too much.

HISTORY: Growing up a poor Zulu in the slums of Johannesburg was no picnic for Gideon, but it did teach him one valuable thing: how to fight. Fighting has more or less defined the man's entire life- it is his passion and his expertise. It's a good thing for honest people everywhere that he chose to join the Army rather than one of the many slum gangs like other members of his family.

Promoted to sergeant and a regimental hand-to-hand instructor, Khambalo was among the many soldiers screened as potential pilots for South Africa's burgeoning Jaeger program in 2024. With the South African economy growing due to more and more Asian industrial concerns deciding to relocate to Africa (with kaiju destroying factories left and right, there was only one continent left with a large labor pool and low tax rates), it made good economic sense to build the capabilities to protect these new assets.

Khambalo was the only canidate to get through the rigorous training to pilot Olifant Rogue, the first African Jaeger (Nigeria, Kenya, and Egypt have since built their own). Intended as a just-in-case weapon in case kaiju reeemerge, now Khambalo is being pressed into action in this new war.

Olifant Rogue

JAEGER NAME: Olifant Rogue

JAEGER DESCRIPTION IN DETAIL: Olifant, like the name suggests, was built for sheer size and strength, intended to be able to manhandle even Class III kaiju. Standing around 102 meters (334 feet) it is larger and heavier than many other Jaegers and painted a uniform gray. Instead of conventional hands, it possesses large pincers. The connpod is in the large head, which posseses a long, flexible prehensile tentacle (the trunk) and two massive artillery pieces built into the collarbone (the tusks). More on these below.

SPECIAL WEAPONS:
Pincers- Olifant Rogue's pincers, while incapable of fine manipulation, can close with enormous force, enough to flatten a freight ship. When closed, they work equally well as maces to batter any foe who gets too close.

Trunk- The tentacle from Olifant's head is around 55m (180 feet) long and unlike the pincers, is actually capable of lifting or manipulating smaller objects, or constricting something with crushing force. On the end is a “small” but extremely sharp diamond-crusted blade.

Tusks- The two artillery pieces in Olifant Rogue's collarbone are 90 cm smoothbore guns, some of the largest such weapons ever created. Firing a shell the size of a panel van, the recoil is so great that even Olifant Rogue must brace itself to avoid being bowled over. The size of the shells prevents intricate aiming, however, the guns basically only fire straight ahead. However, the weapons can tear through even a destroyer with ease. The muzzles of the cannons have also been sharpened to a fine point, because why not.

SPECIAL ATTACKS:
Olifant Rogue is built for close-in brawling, meant to use its enormous size and power to overwhelm a kaiju- a tactic that suits the pilot well. Ideally, it would batter an opponent into submission, hold it still with pincers and trunk, then finish it off at close range with the tusks.

WEAKNESSES: Olifant's sheer size and heavy armor results in one major drawback: it is slo-o-o-oow, with around half the speed of most other Jaegers. In addition, the size and weight of the thing makes operating in urban areas almost as dangerous as a kaiju attack- just walking around would destroy buildings and collapse streets.

EXTRA WEAPONS/ADD-ONS:
SAM battery- Mounted on Olifant Rogue's shoulders are two batteries of surface-to-air missiles with heavy warheads (two batteries of sixteen missiles for a total of thirty-two). They were hastily added when it was discovered that the Malihini were able to fly, hopefully they can knock one of the flying creatures back to earth.

Exocet battery- A battery of twenty-five Exocet anti-ship missiles (modified for ground combat) are built into Olifant Rogue's chest in order to give it at least some ranged combat ability. An Exocet can sink an armored warship, hopefully it can do some harm to a Malihini.

DESCRIPTION: Ramesh is man of Indian descent in his mid-thirties. He is of average height and build. His clothes are mismatched and his hair is constantly messy- he is not terribly concerned with his personal appearance.

PERSONALITY: Ramesh is fascinated with knowledge for the sake of knowledge. The appearance of kaiju within his lifetime has especially caught his interest, and he will obsessively study the subject without food or rest. This does not mean he is unsociable or unkind, but he often doesn't realize that others might not share his passion- the unprepared will often find him off-putting and weird.

HISTORY: Ramesh Pillay was born in Durban in 1999, the son of a lawyer and a real estate agent. He was a quiet, bookish type as a child. His interest was firmly captured by the first kaiju attack on San Francisco in 2014. Questions about how such an enormous creature could survive and function raced through his mind. He began to study biology and zoology, especially the burgeoning field of kaiju studies. His parents had money, which afforded him an excellent education both in South Africa and in the United States (he met the love of his life and eventual husband Phil Travers while studying at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore). With little competition, by his 20s Pillay had become one of the top macrobiologists- the men and women devoted to the study of kaiju. However, with the Kaiju War considered won by 2025, macrobiology became less of a dire need and more of a curiosity. Teaching at the prestigious Stellenbosch University, Ramesh was considered a competent if spacey professor and the faculty indulged his research as an eccentricity. However, with the Malihini attacking Atlantic cities, this position has been reconsidered. Pretoria has sent him to London to aid in the efforts against the invaders.
