Good to see someone else on board! Recruitment is rather difficult now-a-days.
The Punks

Nine teenagers from across the continental United States of varying age, gender, past and ethnicity are recruited - or I should say will be recruited - after an encounter with themselves. Who else would some punk kid listen to aside from themselves? Circa 1994, Bill Clinton is office, Schindler's List is wins 7 Oscars and abductions are rampant throughout the country, and probably the world, too. This generation is fed by the media with worldwide syndication becoming a reality with the popularity of Satellite television and the new-found internet. No single kid worried about a few disappearance across the country with so much input... until someone claiming to be them bursts through the door to their classroom one misty Tuesday morning.

Reality is, not every character has to be a punk. Teenage rebellion, however, is a common theme, and I want it to be part of character development. The characters involved should be between the ages of 14 and 18, and in high school, but. . . for the right creative purposes, I'll bend some rules!

The Fate

Now, how can nine teenagers dictate the fate of Earth? The answer is, Earth doesn't mean a whole lot in the grand scheme. Countless worlds with countless potential are all being recruited and entire cultures are being used as sheep, harvesting those with high potential to become warriors in the next generation of intergalactic, yet some-how-still-mystic warfare. These people claiming to be you, bursting into your rooms, are from a decade or so into the future were they have already became War veterans, and already honed their powers. What they tell you is that its not enough and that they're nowhere near powerful enough to stop the new threat, whatever it may be. Warning you of your upcoming recruitment and unlocking your powers early as well as giving you advice on your own abilities and possibly a bit of insight to the future, these versions of yourself spend only a few brief minutes doing all they can to make the difference between their future and yours. The question is: is a few minutes enough to alter the fate of the entire world?

Yes, these people are from a variant of the future, and they will be played by me. The only live for five minutes or so before they 'dissipate' into essentially nothing, but what they tell you is this: you are, among a few others, some of the only people who have the ability to change the future and save the world, they just don't know how.

The Anime

Doesn't seem like an anime plot, huh? A little bit of Terminator, maybe an element or two of Ender's Game with the youth of these characters, but the point is that the Anime element of this roleplay doesn't really come from its plot. It comes from how the powers will work. Earthly Science knows of energy, mostly kinetic, heat, potential, nuclear, so on and so forth. Those are physical energies. What they don't fully grasp are the metaphysical ones, and it is decades of not centuries past them. Dark matter, Quantum mechanics, the universe as a whole and the sub-atomic particles that even two decades later they will still be researching - all things they won't understand until science opens its mind to the meta-physical. Other worlds, however, already have. Inter-galactic Councils that utilize the powerful effects of Phase-Shifting and Dimensional Transportation through the meta-physical energy called Denkai, and know this: organic beings (intelligent humanoids) have the most potential to control Denkai, and use the powerful, destructive abilities that can come with it. Transportation is in and of itself an incredible aspect, but these users of Denkai - called Denizens - are trained to be soldiers, all fighting for a cause. Denkai has mechanics and works in ways similar to almost every energy from every anime, and that is the anime-element found here.

Denkai can be compared to Chi, Ki, Chakra, Reishi. It makes up souls, creates powerful effects, but also can be used similar to more conventional fantasy magics. It's a very versatile element, and a key one to this roleplay. When words like Inter-galactic come up, this won't be a Star Wars Space theme. Denkai makes doors to other worlds, but it doesn't allow for space travel. Don't worry or be concerned about trivial terms like those!
Interested yet? If not, I do apologize for the waste of time. If so, good! I'm looking for reliable, high-casual players. Nine is the max, but I'm aiming for three in the beginning. I have an OOC up, but this roleplay needs to get off the ground first! I know this roleplay might sound like a mash-up of things, but I assure you that its setting is sound and well-thought-out. In a roleplayer, I'm looking for creative perspectives, the ability to collab through titanpad, a good posting rate and the bare minimum of three paragraphs for single posts. This roleplay only needs one or two others to shoot off the ground, so c'mon!

The F1rst of N9ne

Tyler said "Not a damn thing in this world matters 'til we let it."

"Patience is a virtue and I've never been virtuous."

"It's not over 'til they're crying."

Tyler J. Stark | M | 16

Although he always felt like an outsider, Tyler had no problems socializing within the small Southern town he grew up in. As a matter of fact, one could say he socialized a little too well. Not only did he manage to befriend a majority of people from each social circle within his school - there weren't many in his class of eighty or so - but he also managed to pick up a girl or two from each one as well. Tyler was silver-tongued when he wasn't spitting poison; he was known equally for his casanova-like charm and vindictive verbose when angered. More notably was his stance against physical violence, which was rarely respected in the redneck area he was from. Often called a "pussy" or "pansy" by his peers, he often found it a necessity to prove that he could hurt a person more with words and manipulation than they ever could with their fists.

Tyler flew under-the-radar through most of his academic career, as he slept through most of his classes merely to pass his tests. Most of his nights were spent either playing girls, playing games or tossing his sobriety aside while his days were a meaningless slur of an attempt to make up for his loss of sleep. Because of his reputation and lone wolf mentality, Tyler made few real friends and saw most others as simple tools to acquire what he wanted or enjoy himself the most. In recent months, that was forced to change as he began having tremors and eventually seizures, which put an end to his chaotic lifestyle and erratic sleep schedule.

Skills Tyler had prior to his seizures were dulled. Shooting guns (a Southern Rite of Passage), painting, drawing, playing musical instruments and even things like easily unclasping bra straps now were lost to him, and he took it hard. A nigh-narcissist prior to his medical condition, Tyler had his pride dissolved by himself, as most people felt pity for him and still liked him, although few saw him the same. It was through the support of a few close friends of his that he overcame his own self-doubt and began working on revitalizing the skills he lost, as well as reinvigorating his social life through less risque means.

Tyler has no academic weakspots, but he no longer excels in the fields he did previously. The loss of a photographic memory forced him to relearn his learning methods and effort is actually required to perform feats such as complex algebraic problems, although he still functions well in classes such as trigonometry, calculus and geometry. History and literature are classes that he breezes through as one is simply understanding political reasoning and memorization while the other is the only skill not truly damaged by his medical history. Science is a field Tyler takes great pleasure in, but is also highly frustrated in; all science classes progress far too slowly to interest Tyler, thus often resulting in poor grades. Similarly, Tyler has a great disdain for tediously proving his capabilities through methods such as homework, thus rarely does it. These facts hold true for all classes. Whereas he has no real academic weakspot in terms of subject or understanding, his work ethic and pace often tend to be his downfalls.

Despite making leaps and bounds with his considerable depression, Tyler is still in a state of disdain for his present self. Added weight from his medications, added weight from his lowered scores and the overall subtraction of his social life keep him down. Although he often attempts to motivate himself, and does so through re-exploring the arts and music as well as attempted exercise, it is his permanent belief that he can never be as good as he once was. As with all adolescents, Tyler searches for his sense of identity which is something he lost. Once so powerful he felt almost no insecurities, now its absence have felt him a shell of a person he once thought was perfect. Putting his old self on a pedestal and seeing how much he falls short from such, every day is a struggle merely to get up and make an attempt at becoming great, even if not his prime.

Manifestation

The Denkai Manifestation shown in Tyler is a rarity called Avatar. The Avatar Manifestation allows its user to project Denkai into a humanoid shape or even humanoid being and imbue it with qualities such as enhanced strength or speed. These Avatars range in size, abilities, visibility, number and at times are not true Avatars, but instead augmentations to the body or others. A notable quality of Tyler is that his Denkai is neither recognized as Sei or Fu and thus does not interact with either in abnormal ways. Another notable quality is that the Avatar Manifestation is most likely the result of the personal disdain Tyler has for involving himself in violence directly, as Avatars can be - at higher levels of control - created and controlled anywhere in line of sight, and can relay sensory information to their user once created.

"They have always existed: a select few whose fates dictate the fate all others. In the beginning, there were three. Then seven. Now nine."

N9ne is a fantasy-based roleplay that incorporates elements from several genres. One of the earliest and strongest themes in the roleplay is the presence of the characters' future selves (as played by the Moderator) telling them of a post-apocalyptic future, although giving only vague details. As the roleplay begins in a state of relative normality (Earth, United States circa 1994) and immediately transitions to a large break from reality, all other transitions are made fast-paced to accommodate. Soon after, new-found abilities for the characters manifest as markings on their bodies and unique powers or abilities that soon gain the attention of the Hankō Council, which then acts as the protagonist faction. The new powers and associations that are 'otherworldly' will follow the patterns most anime do, merging in the Eastern elements of media into the roleplay while the rest of the break from reality is still setting in. The overall theme of the roleplay remains simple: high-fantasy.

Denkai is the energy found within the soul and all other metaphysical aspects of life. The science of Earth has even yet to uncover the mechanisms of Denkai, but it follows a similar pattern to the natural interactions of particles within the science most characters should have been taught in their high schools. It comes in two variants: Sei and Fu. Sei represents life and is the Denkai given off naturally by plants and living animals while Fu Denkai is the energy released upon death, bacteria, fungus and even demons within the world of N9ne. Regardless of what type of Denkai a person utilizes (not all of the high-potential candidates use Sei Denkai), they may use essentially any ability - with the same amount of training - as another. What each Denkai user, known as a Denizen, will have is a physical manifestation of their Denkai on their body that resembles a tattoo of some sort. This manifestation is two-fold in that not only does it exist physically, it exists metaphysically and allows the Denizen far greater and far more powerful control over a single ability or branch of abilities regarding Denkai. Some share manifestations, some are completely unique. Regardless of what kind of manifestation it is, it will be the power that the denizen becomes known for over time.

Prompt

This roleplay will have most of itself revealed in-roleplay, so I do not intend on revealing a large amount in the OOC. I believe fully what I have given should be adequate enough to begin contemplating a character. I will have one as well. Any and all questions are welcome in PM. Introductions for this roleplay will also be incredibly simple: a normal Tuesday in high school, around 10:00 PM in third period. Simple enough. Bend whatever you like to start, I'll do the rest. Anyone interested in moderation spots will be warned that I require studious knowledge of this roleplay to be learned. Anyone who wants something 'slightly' different from the norm I have set may be considered, again just PM me. The rules are also simple. Give me three decent-quality paragraphs per post minimum. I'm not totally anal about this one, but I do expect decent standards here; it's what I asked for. Aside from that, be cool like the Fonz.

I do support making nice character sheets, but here's the very minimum for what I want:

The F1rst of N9ne
The S2cond of N9ne

I've asked it: are you a 90's kid? Well, if you are, could you imagine a punk'd out adult barging into one of your classrooms, claiming to be you, then telling you that you and your soon-to-be-unlocked powers are the keys to saving the world? Hell, if you're not a nineties kid and that idea sounds interesting, then what I have here might just be right up your alley.

N9ne based in the 90's, specifically '94, when across the country abductions and stories of "people from the future" hailing the end of the world, only to disappear later. Each character should most desirably be a high school student, one of which will be recruited soon by the Hankō Council (also called the Resistance) alongside a few others due to the potential power found within their soul, and all of its previous incarnations. You will be stripped from Earth, shown your powers, shown the tyranny of the overbearing Kōshō Council and the chaos of piracy and anarchy left in the interstellar world. Only through time, the decade that past that your former self hailed from, will you understand why and how the impossible act of time travel was made possible to warn you, and more importantly why only you - and the other eight - have the potential to save the multiverse.

Now, this is just an interest check, so I won't go into detail; I'll make an OOC for that. What I will tell you is a little bit about the roleplay and what I'm looking for. First off, standards: high casual. I want the roleplay to remain small, so I want the quality to be relatively high. Collaboration posts through titanpad alongside me and some others will most likely be a necessity. You need to be able to work well within a small community; I don't intend on this just being entirely separate entities coming together to write. I do digress by stating that there will be powers in this roleplay, specifically one manifested one, and the energy system will parallel that of most anime-setups (it is called Denkai). It will be separated into two types: Sei and Fu, which are essentially just positive and negative, but all do the same thing in different ways. That said, I won't reveal more - you'll have to find out some of this in the roleplay.

That said, I'm working on the OOC: right now! Show some interest, if y'know, you're interested.

Well, your team was sort've hinging on you. I suppose it's fine, given I still have no answer or knowledge as to the whereabouts of Kami.
