Wonderland was a wonderful place, full of magical creatures, plants and assorted tackling furniture. The fashion was definitely outlandish and the food was exactly the same. The land was filled with peace and joy after the Red Queens demise, the thought of having their head taken from them far from their minds.
It had been in the middle of the hundred day feast when Alice had noticed a figure off to the side, a shadow hidden by the umbrella trees shade. But even in the shadows she could see flaming red hair, which could only mean one thing; the Red Queen was back, so her army wasn't far behind. As she staggered out of the shadows Alice knew that this situation was far worse than the White Queen mistaking the Red Queen to be dead. Her skin was pale enough that you could see veins through it, flesh peeling off in some places while in others there wasn't any flesh at all. Her eyes were glazed over and her lips were rotting away, exposing her blood soaked teeth.
The Red Queen was a zombie and all the guests were her feast. The sight caused a huge panic, everyone running as fast as they could for their homes. In the commotion Alice was pushed and shoved until she hit the ground, a plate across the head bringing her into darkness. She was saved by one of the many men who had helped her throughout her first journey, taking her to a place where he could take care of her and keep her safe.
When Alice came to she was laying in bed, but the place she had awoken in was unfamiliar to her, it was neither reality or Wonderland. As she gazed outside her window, the only light source in the room, she realized that this was no longer Wonderland. "Welcome to the Shadowlands." A voice called to her from the doorway, the only thing she recognized in this new dark world.
