I'm feeling really happy and pumped. Oh, and joyful. Haha.
Bio
Here's a list of things about me if you want to know a little bit more. Though if you actually want to get to know me, send me a PM, or talk over the OOC chat.
1. I don't generally like roleplays where my characters are forced to be serious 100% of the time; mostly because that's not how actual people work.
2. Yes, I use anime pictures for appearances. I've come to like anime less and less over the years, and personally only ever watch the movies now, and that's on incredibly rare occasions. I personally like using those over actual people faces, because people have too many specific details, and I can never find people faces that match the description I want. If you would like, I can use a text description instead.
3. I generally like to make 'pairs' of characters. Either characters that seriously contrast with each other, or work together really well but still have arguments and problems.
4. I've been forum roleplaying for just about 5 years now, and I've been tabletop roleplaying for 11 years now. I still suck at roleplaying despite being a 12 year veteran, but, what're you gonna do?
5. I really enjoy talking to people. Yes, society has gone downhill, but despite that I find serious enjoyment out of talking to people about anything. So, if I'm in an RP with you, just chat away with me. We can talk about mundane things, or go all-out on serious topics. I don't think I've come across a single person I've hated talking to, even if they were somewhat irritating or annoying. So please PM me, or just talk OOC.
6. I flipping love Inside Out, and as such, if you ever make an RP based around it, please invite me. I promise to behave of course. If one isn't made though, you know very well that I'll make my own, and I'll try my hardest to make it the best RP possible. Or, if you just want to talk about Inside Out, I'd love to do that as well.
7. Please make good characters. I understand Advanced Roleplayer's over on that section have no problem with this, but I don't like RPing over there. When I'm on casual roleplay, not many seem to care a whole lot about making good characters. They just make walking cliche's to get into an RP, and then completely change that character as the RP barely starts. It's annoying, lazy, and doesn't really make me want to accept you if I'm GM or co-GM.
Characters are the literal heart and soul of roleplaying, and should be treated as such. If you make your characters card-board cut-outs, it only tells me that you either don't care, are lazy, or that we absolutely need a moderate roleplay section on the forums to bridge the gap between posting 1-2 paragraphs with barely any work put into characters, and posting 6-8 paragraphs with enormously deep backstories, love, and care, put into characters.
8. I am a caring and nice guy, so don't be afraid to talk to me about anything. I'm fairly hard to offend, and even harder to make mad. I seriously enjoy getting to know my fellow members, so talk whenever you feel like it.
I'd say on average, it takes about 3-4 days before an interest check takes off and becomes a full-fledged RP. Though, it always helps when you're popular enough on the forums that people see your username and instantly just want to join.
RPers really have to look out for each other. We are a dying breed. If you don't help the newcomers, then how are we supposed to have the website grow? The only way to get others to notice is through bumping this up with posts.
Sadly, unless we get more people. This thread'll turn into a class on how to RP and nothing more. Alright, I've planned my child character. I'm stuck in school right now on my phone, but once I'm done here and back on my computer I'll make that character.
I don't think it's possible for me to get disappointed really. So long as you understand writing, and know how to keep things realistic, the small intricacies are a piece of cake. I only get disappointed when grammar or sentence structure is real wonky.
Keima would be classified as a young adult, and Nu is close to being a young adult, but I get what you mean. What I mean is a character younger than 13. Someone with very little to no judgement, barely knowing what's right and wrong, and really just having to cope with taking on serious responsibilities and growing up mentally in that process.
I caught myself on the verge of a pointless tangent there. Not going into that territory though.
I just noticed something. Is the way you're spelling Tokyo intentional? With Tyoko. Or is this just a fantasy version of Tokyo, that's not actually Tokyo but may as well should be?
I could make another character. Possibly much more of a child. The last time I roleplayed a child was about two years ago, but I'm pretty sure I can get back into that.
Oh, hey, nice. Awesome character, I can't wait to see the interactions. Giant muscly Russian man amongst a crowd of teeny Japanese skinny people. Forum based isn't much too different, though interactions with other people does tend to differ between most other types of roleplaying. Also, there tends to be a lot less pressure to post in forum role-playing, unless of course you're the GM and need to get the plot moving.
Btw, Tek, how many more people would you say we need before getting an IC up?
Naoto by the way, is about 6 inches over the Japanese height average for men by the way. I'll assume he's half something else if he's supposed to be that tall.
Username: RawrgnatheBloodfridge | Character Name: Kurano Tanaka | Character Age: 20 | Character Gender: Male
Appearance:
Kurano is 5'6" tall, and generally wears the vest, tie, and white button-up shirt with black pants get-up. His eye color is brown, and hair generally disheveled. He normally wears grey tied shoes, and wears a watch with constant reminders on study, food, and class times routinely sounding off. His eyes normally have dark shadows under them from the constant nights he spends staying up to study.
Fourth Dimensional Power: Sound. Not unlocked all of his powers.
Bio: Kurano is a college law student, attending Waseda University, a very prestigious and highly respectable University within the Shinjuku Tokyo region. Kurano was gifted the dimensional power of sound inherited from his mother. His parents weren't the wealthiest, leading him to live a more modest lifestyle growing up. His conflicts with the snobs at Waseda tend to happen often. He's fairly hard-working and serious, shown through his intensive studies into graduating as quickly as possible and becoming a lawyer. Though, growing up in a humble family has given him a chance to realize just how gifted he truly is. Being a student at Waseda caused him and his family to be a target of the local mob, and he's usually pestered often from his usual route between his classes and his apartment. Kurano genuinely tries his hardest to be nice to others, though normally ends up being rude in some way. He uses his power with as much responsibility as possible, trying to hone it so that he could hear an approaching danger much easier.
Most of Kurano's life was spent in the shadow of his uncle, a successful businessman who would stop at nothing to make sure Kurano was set in life, him not ever having a child and likely will never have the possibility either. Kurano was trained in various important aspects of what's needed to "make it" in life. Coercion, looks, and most importantly, how to make money. He very normally conflicted with his uncle, only wanting to inherit the family business. He only recently took up smoking, as a way to escape the constant stress of the world and classes. He had heard recently that those with the power of taste could easily develop fourth dimensional toe cheese.
Quick question. What age must a character be in order to get these extra-dimensional senses? Or, just give me an age range on what's acceptable to RP. That'll probably be enough information I need to get this app done tonight.
