Don't be. My final paper is unfinished because of it. My grade is gonna suffer too.

Still totally worth it tho.

Question, can we apply for branches inside of the task force, or is every branch just placed in once place and everyone is assigned it?EDIT : To clarify , Is Vice, Murder, Arson etc all in one place , or are they separate branches?

Oh, so you mean the departments of a regular police ageny? I think that this, being the Bureau of Unconventional Crime, wouldn't deal with the usual investigative work. Rax said somewhere that the BUC will be dealing with cases of a seemingly supernatural nature.

The BUC deals with special cases that canon otherwise be explained by the usual means, within the usual branches of criminal investigation. They will vary, and not all will necessarily have a supernatural cause, but perhaps a criminal mastermind instead. Or both.

What did you do? Hiking or something similar?

I went to an outdoor music festival with a group from my college and we got free tickets. Why did we get free tickets? Because we got to take down the huge stages at the end of the festival and we worked from midnight till 5 AM that's why. It was awesome, I thought we were gonna just be picking up trash but no, I got to climb the bloody main stage and untie stuff and it was awesome!

Also, you know that one person who always runs around some concert dressed in something like-- per say-- a Spider-Man costume and a flat bill? That would be me. Between dancing too hard and the stage take-downs and the all-nighter it's pretty rough being me right now.

But so worth it.

Sound. I was suddenly very aware that I had made my character into a total non-physical type but I think he'd still be physically quite aggressive when he wanted to (bluff).

It's cool. I like him the way you made him.

Our characters will have to uproot their entire life, right? I just want to make certain that our characters won't be doing anything in their previous life, or that they will.

Pretty much. I mean, it's nothing like being erased from society, you can still contact your families etc. but of course cannot share any information about what you're doing or who you're working for (confidential information and all). You'll all live in the same building, you'll travel to the same places. The base is in the US at the moment but it may not always be there necessarily.

You won't be allowed to hold another job (you won't have time anyway) while you work for the BUC (unless it's for an undercover assignment, which is quite possible), and you won't be responsible to any authority other than the BUC during the time you're with them.

I'm an indecisive nightmare and tend to tweak my CS (in minor ways) right up until the RP starts. Would that be okay?

Yes that would be fine, as long as they aren't major changes to the character as a whole. If that's the case you'll have to let me know. But tweaking is always fine, it's the little things.

I'm reading it, have you read it?

I took AP Psychology in my sophomore year of high school, but nothing past that. Yeah, I can see it being used as a reference.

The Silmarillion is the Bible for Middle Earth, basically. I've only ready part of it, but it's some crazy awesome stuff.

Actually, some classmates and I were just talking about how it relates to string theory, since we were just studying it in physics. The way our professor put it, all matter in the universe is (theoretically) made up of these tiny vibrating "strings" that, depending on their frequency, can be anything, and it's like one big cosmic symphony. In the Silmarillion the world comes about by way of music. Narnia too was literally sung into existence. It's poetic, but it's also fascinating to think that they might not be too far off, even though it's just a theory and way beyond our ability to understand at this time.

Yeah, food for thought.
Everything hurts but it was totally worth it. How was everyone's weekend?

I'm going over all the CSs today, the ones that have already been submitted and the ones that were submitted while I was away. I hope to have a solid list of characters by today or tomorrow, and I'll still accept new character applications. For those of you whose characters I accept, once I give you the word I want you to post your CS here in the OOC, and I'll put a link to the post in the OP. I would like to just copy-paste them all into a hider like on the Old Guild but that doesn't always work here so we're gonna do it this way.

That's not quite what I asked. I was refering to the setting of the RP, not if we're going to start soon.

And yes, it will be set in the current year.

Am I safe in assuming that the RP will start in the current year?

Time is relative.
But patience is a virtue.

Ill be making a CS soon, not right now though since I'm fairly busy this week. I'll hopefully have one up by the end of the week.

I'll be watching for it.

Will the sheets become public, incidentally? I tend to make sure I know exactly who and what I'm working with in an RP. I think it helps to work out interaction and stuffs beforehand. It also helps people not accidentally reduplicate primary character traits when they make their own character, by double-checking that nobody else has used those traits. Obviously I've already sent in my sheet so that's not a factor, but it may come in handy for others. :)

The Rules That You Must Read said
2. All character sheets will be submitted directly to me via PM, any character sheets posted in the OOC without my seeing them first is automatic disqualification. This rule is so I can be objective about which characters to accept and keep them in order. All accepted characters’ CSs will be posted in the OP of the OOC for quick reference.

Might want to look over those rules again.

I'm not worried about duplicate character traits. Some of them are similar, yes, but that's to be expected. I've actually gotten a wide variety of character types, I really like this method of character submission and will probably use it in the future. I don't want there to be any pressure on the player for their character to be or not be a certain way depending on other characters. Acceptance into the RP depends on the player's own role-playing ability, not so much what their character is like.
You're not already?
