Rennac smiled at the clarification, heading to the armory and finding Dresden and Jackdaw there. 'Great, one person who will be more likely to shoot my legs out than cover me and an engineer who could almost literally see right through me.' He shook his head a bit and went about looking for his crate, soon finding it and started sorting through his gear. His power armor had been modified by cutting down on the solid plates around his joints in favor of a protective mesh to allow greater mobility and decrease weight. His helmet visor had been modified to act as a secondary output display for his wrist computer when hooked up to it wirelessly in addition to supporting communications. Attached to the belt was a sheath with a long dagger inside, an inch or two shorter than a sword with a cord wrapped grip. The sheath was strapped to the back of the belt at the waist, making it easier to pull out with a hand behind his back. Finally he had his two babies: two modified pistols with modified firing chambers that could slot explosive rounds as well as .357 magnum bullets. He could quickly swap between a standard single fire, burst, or full auto. He did a quick check on his pistols to see if they were in good condition but found nothing that he could notice. He then turned to the armor to find none of the mesh had unraveled or had been worn during transit. Finally he drew the dagger and checked the edge to find it slightly dull. "Huh, guess the blade did scrape against the neck guard on that last assignment." he muttered more to himself than to the other two who were present. Not bothering to look to the two behind him he got a comfortable seat at one of the workbenches and began to sharpen his knife, working on honing the edge back to what he saw as suitable for the weapon.
Rennac nodded, figuring he may as well finish the scan of the rest of the ship once he got his clearance through. At the very least he figured it would help pass some time before he got everything out in the open concerning some of the new measures that would need to be put in place. Well, his recommendations as well as the new computer safety protocols that command wants installed and set up. "Very well sir. I'll go check my equipment to be sure it made it on board the ship. Don't wanna be in the field with just what I can scrounge up from the armory on short notice." With a nod he gave a brief pause to see if his captain had to speak to him on any other matters, turning to head to the armory to check in on his equipment.
post is up. Waiting on you then
Rennac's attention turned to the commander for a brief moment, returning on Mu just in time to see the hand flying up in a salute. His instincts kicked in and he bent back in time to avoid the hand, getting back upright once he was clear. His race thankfully kept some of their hole survival instincts, something that has been tried and true to keep his species alive. Well, mostly, there were still instances where it failed to keep a wolfen alive so it was far from foolproof. He then looked back to the captain, smiling a bit grimly to himself. There was another reason why he was brought on board, something he would need to hold a briefing about once they were past the atmosphere. He was told to keep possible eaves droppers to a minimum and that meant getting out of range for whatever bugs there could be. He knew the higher ups wanted to keep this situation quiet to prevent a panic and he saw how the crew handled his arrival. They were not shaken up too easily and would likely not freak out when he gave them the details. "Captain, once we're off I'd like to speak to you and the other major officers if possible. Has to do with a few things concerning the ship's computer grid."
No worries. Gonna wait for Phoenix to post before I go again.
Waiting on you Hawk
Rennac smirked at the idea of a religion based on perfecting your own abilities, seeming to be right up his alley. He focused on a balance of mind and body, believing the mind could not thrive in an overweight and sluggish body. Both needed to be kept in top form in order for one to work at it's peak. "Intriguing. Never had that religion on my homeworld. I suppose I'd best describe myself as a balance. I neither excel or fail in any area save for hacking. By building your skills in multiple areas you can adapt on the fly to different situations and thrive no matter where you are or what situation you find yourself in." H e turned his eyes to the various gems laid out on the Mu's palm, noticing one clear gem that was familiar from a few of the tools he used. "Hmm... I could make use of this one as a resistor for my wrist computer. Thank you. Hmm, I think I may have an idea for a gift. Don't suppose you play any games do you?"
Rennac smirked and nodded, relinquishing his grip on the Mu's forearm as he did with his. He was rather intrigued by the Mu species, miners with nearly the strength of super soldiers in their stocky limbs. What surprised him more was the priest bit, having never been much of a holy man himself. He saw everything s just code, all problems having a solution or a reason behind them. Not to mention the fact that most heaven based religions got immediately debunked by space travel once it came around in full swing when regular families would take a trip to the atmosphere and see a heaven devoid of angels or god. "Well, not sure just how much good that does me. No offense but I could never get into the whole faith bit. The church on my planet had a few... issues as well. Rather not get into the topic."
Rennac chuckled at the comment. "Heh, that wouldn't stop Jackdaw if she were in your position. Nice to meet you..Max, correct? If I recall my briefing you're the guardian on ship." Despite the short stature of the Mu, his musculature made him a pint sized titan. He was sure he could not only don his armor but also still be able to give quite a wallop with it on. As he felt the Mu grab not his hand but his forearm the Wolfen took it in stride, knowing some cultures preferred to shake like that as a more casual greeting. Seems this was the only person on the ground team that WOULDN'T try to shoot him, at least until h had to give his standard security lecture about keeping login information safe and whatnot. It was always a chore on a new ship crew but it was something that he had to do since that was a major threat should someone get on the ship. "Heh, no relation I know of. Wouldn't be half bad though."
Rennac made it to his work station, soon powering it on and looking through the system to see what he had to work with. He was pleasantly surprised to see the digital firewall was of good quality as well as the anti-malware. "Well, least the software is not half bad. This I can work with and tweak to improve though should do a good job of keeping people from getting in unannounced." Rennac quickly checked the user log to see if any files were tampered with or downloaded while the ship was docked. Thankfully everything seemed normal and only had Alliance certified technicians using the databank and no downloads nor anything changed in the system beyond the standard system update. He grabbed a nearby datapad and began to put in data on everything that had to be fixed or upgraded, seeing how the designers put security on the backburner more or less to try and get as much as they could with armor plating, shielding, and munitions. He worked his way through a few corridors and marked down the areas that had blind spots and other weak points, soon making his way full circle to the hanger where he made the last note on his datapad. "I'm surprised no one robbed us blind here. Digital security is good but that wont do squat if someone gets access to the physical drive. The captain is not gonna be happy with my assessment." He looked up from his work to see Dresden, Teeth, and a new arrival on the deck. He tucked the datapad away for now and smiled. "Ah, a new face that doesn't want to punch my face in. Name's Rennac. I'm the new team technician and security consultant." He held out a hand to shake, a smile on his lips as he had something other than the glaring holes in security to have his mind on.
