yea this looks cool. I am guessing the characters will be different social classes and shtuff. Would characters be allowed to have some sort of magical ability?

Yea , PCs would be members of court. Possibly playing more than one. Magical abilities would be allowed but would have to fit the setting. I'm thinking of building in magic abilities to the races..

BEYOND IMMORTALITY

The Place

The Gardens are the endless sprawling residence of the Ageless One, the Empress Minu, who gives the gift of life. As she gives so too does she take. The Gardens are a sprawling pleasure-den of strange geometries, a mixture of Babylonian, Indian and Roman architectures. Courtiers politic, fight, plot and die. They love and kill, torment and nurture, all vying for favor with the Empress. It is a place between twilight and dawn, a doorway between dream and waking.

The Empress built the Gardens as her personal residence. The massive labyrinth of chambers, corridors, vaults and plazas, baths, theatres, and gardens lie in an endless expanse of pure white desert. Only a single river with no bottom leads to the gardens. No clouds pass above. Only azure skies and light mists of rain that either cool or warm depending on the person feeling it.

The Empress appears as a young maiden of negligible appearance. Stoic and quiet but commanding attention when she speaks. She is not what she appears to be. Minu is of an ancient magic, dark and beyond comprehension of mortal men. Minu gives immortality to those that suit her needs or gain her favor.

The Courtiers and its Strata

The Nobility are ageless, as is the Empress. They owe fealty to the Empress for the gift of eternal life. The hold authority over the Knighthood, the Servants and the Skralings. The Knights are men and women of honour who serve one (or many) lords and ladies. The Empress has little control over the Knighthood, but since Minu controls the Nobility in theory she can exert influence over the Knights as well.

The Servants perform the housekeeping duties, the heavy lifting, the cooking and cleaning etc. They are better than Skralings in only that they are not to be killed. A Servant has very rarely achieved the gift of Immortality. The Skralings are the slaves of the court. They are entertainment and labor. Duels to the death or just snacks for the more exotic animals that are brought to court.

The Races

The Lamassu are elegant shape-shifting creatures. At birth they are given three molds that they can turn into. When socializing Lamassu prefer retaining characteristis of all three of their forms-but are fully capable of completely transforming into any of the three.

Lamassu are charismatic, moral, philosophical creatures. They like being the center of attention by telling riddles, jokes and stories-tension can run high when more than a few Lamassu are in the same room.

To come: Races ! Elephant Bipeds, Light/Energy Creatures, Humanoid Spiders, Trolls, Lamassu, more!

This RP would take place in the gardens of the Empress Minu-a surreal fantastical place buried somewhere between ancient times and medieval. Strange races of courtiers come and go-weird ships deliver endless treasures and guests. Politics and ritual abound.
Still here. Ready to RP :)
Rare if you plan on continuing this NRP could you let us know?
Added some Air Force stuff.. Anyone else close to finishing? I'm nearly done.

I really like the nations that are popping up so far, and it looks like everybody has a very clear idea of what they want their faction to be. Hopefully we can get an actual thread up relatively soon (no rush, of course), as I'm very excited to see how everyone interacts with one-another.

Same here. It's a good mix and should make for an interesting RP.

We should have a chatzy or piratepad to collab and chat in.

Probably not going to be able to join that^

It's pretty obvious that you flavored your nation with at least a little hint of Greece. Well at least a hint of the Kingdom of Greece and Hellenistic-era Greece. We could say we exchanged cultures at one point or another.

Yea if you have any ideas I'm open to suggestions. Other than the country being city-states at one point I'm still not seeing the connection to Greece.

page has a useful infobox for unit sizes.

Thanks!

Rhymer, I think your military unit terminology is off. A battalion is smaller than a division - A division consists of multiple regiments, which are organized into battalions, then into companies. But if Gurska's choice of words is just quirky, so be it!

To be honest I was just making it up as I go along.

I got a WIP up to save my place - going to play an absolute monarchy, reinstated following an overthrow of the government, with a strong nationalist resurgence. May have some past history with Gurska & Karanova, considering their proximity; feel free to bounce some ideas to me.

It looks like the three countries are in a state of political tension-maybe something caused the region to destabilize. All 3 countries are primarily human, which is another reason they could share a similar history.

EDIT:answering other q's.

By the way Rhymer, I didn't notice this at first but we both have Greek inspired countries. This could be an excellent source of interaction between our nations. Wanna have a common history?

Not sure exactly what elements you mean HB. The city states? I agree that the world could benefit from a more consistent history/background for RP sake.

Other countries huh? Mind if a bulk of them joins the Empire?

Sounds fine to me.

Going to emphasize Nordamark has a lot more "soft power" than it has actual military and industrial equipment. Its lagging in the tech race (hasn't adopted breach-loaders yet, no railroads, scarce coal), but its a center of banking, trade, pleasures, and luxuries. And mercenaries attracted to the kingdom as a safe neutral base of operations.

I'm toning mine down as well. Gurska has a lot of man power, but is sorely outmatched in terms of technology and leadership. Most of the good commanders fled to other countries after the military coup.
