Big Z.O.E fan, so interested. But I might wait until an OOC is up before posting a sheet if you don't mind.
If anyone wants to team up with John I'm game :)

I guess there be non-mages going after mages, it's just unlikely as they would not be very successful against mages with any decent amount of power. If you do stick with the normal humans vs. mages thing, address this issues (perhaps they aren't that good at their job, or they go after weak mages only?)

xD I don't want to insist too much. Made CS changes. simply replaced the stuff at the top about the family with:

so they'd only go after small time criminals, ambush/trap them, drug them so they can't use magic to escape, truss them up and hand em over. Hope that's toned it down enough.

1. I'll accept that, unless dirkinz sees a case where it could go wrong and I don't. (Another visual cue would be the magic circle around them)
2. Possibly, but since the council can only really counter mages with magic weapons or other mages, it'd be unlikely as magic weapons weren't exactly easy to get a hold of.

so to what degree do you need me to rewrite the history? Can I get away with saying that they pursued rogue mages out of personal hate instead of a profession? or do you want me to stay away from the idea of normal humans going after mages all together?

Okay, where do I start with John:
1. The magic on the surface seems weak but when you think about it, it's really strong. Something about it needs to change, either it needs to not be able to absorb living things or John needs to be able to only absorb in one area at a time.(Reason being John could redirect an attack and then instantly move his enemy into a pocket dimension, forcing them to break out and be hit by their redirected attack)
2. Mage Hunters aren't actually a thing as murder is still Illegal, magic was just considered evil and people were driven away or scorned when it was found out that they used it. Magic is/was managed by the council (see the main post which is about to be updated for details).

1. Hmmm I see what you mean. I did mean John to be more of a support-type mage, but I feel like those changes would really limit what he could do. To me it seems that any OPness stems from the pockets of space being an insta hit, so how about we say that the casting time is closely proportional to the size of the space he needs to displace? A person is much bigger than say, an arrow, so that way they should have time to move out of the way if John attempts to trap them (the visual cue would be a blurriness in the air where the spell is being cast at). That would cover the case you mentioned anyway. If there are more that I've missed let me know.

2. I've re-read the intro. I get that the Council oversee magical law enforcement, but still, given how few mages remain (and I'm imagining fewer legal ones) is it not feasible for them to hire non-mages to lighten the workload and help take down criminal mages and such like?
Hope you're still happy to take new people! I'm not really familiar with Fairy Tail, but I had a look around the wiki for a bit so I hope this checks out. apologies for the TLDR history.

Name: John Magebane
Gender: Male
Age: 19

Magic: Space Compression, or the creation and manipulation of “false” pockets of space. Example uses include making a room bigger on the inside, hiding things by effectively removing them from the world, or sucking in magical and physical projectiles mid-flight then releasing them so they may be re-directed. Living things contained in false space will usually find it easy to break out of with violent movement or spell casting from the inside, as it is usually relatively unstable; however it is very difficult to break into from the outside.
Magic Level: B

Personality: John’s past and struggle with substance addiction have left him with relatively low self esteem and some insecurites. He is also rather cautious, defensive and not particularly trusting of others, especially other mages, though externally he tries to be friendly and engaging, even if he might not appear particularly enthusiastic about it. Despite this he genuinely tries to do the best he can for other people, though his relative isolation means his sense of empathy isn’t stellar. John is also not the most determined of people and can easily wavered by doubt, though he will never give up on anything he is sure about in his heart.
Team Members: n/a

Three Strengths:
1. Inquisitive and attentive to his surroundings.
2. trained in hunting/ambushing mages without magic.
3. good at problem solving.

Three Weaknesses:
1. latent substance addiction.
2. poor offensive spell repertoire.
3. Not very strong willed. He’s quite easy to deceive.

Greatest Love: Exploration. Both of the physical world and in knowledge.
Motivation: Finally being free to experience the world. Also to carry on Zepet’s work and re-discover the magical knowledge that died with him.

Appearance: John stands at about 6’ and is of an athletic and wiry build. His medium length, slightly untamed hair and imposing eyebrows are jet black, and his facial features tend to have a slightly tired and malnourished appearance, with slightly hollow cheeks, dark bags under his green eyes, and usually the slight stubble of an unshaven beard. John usually dresses for the wilderness, regardless of where he is, and so favors close fitting garments of browns and greens.
Additional Details: Since his escape John has found it harder than expected to stop taking Magebane. Although he has gradually weaned himself off the stuff and it no longer continuously hinders his magic, he still keeps it around and has the occasional relapse, especially when stressed.
I think I got part of it. Till the bit about the swords anyway. Its about every other page, with some gaps here and there.
:D I was glad I could recover some of the old thread. Even some of the key bits like Kaiden's evisceration or Kornesin's confrontation with death.

And yeah, I've only got 4 modules this term so I've got plenty of time. Starting off with something of finite ambition might be a sensible idea too.
By probing google a little I've managed to recover some 36 of the scattered pages of the old epic and *drumroll* the original Lokia CS from the OOC. I'm not sure if its the CS you're bothered about or more notes you've made separately, but I can post it here if you want or upload it/them to somewhere for your inspection?

Edit: or better yet you can see it for yourselves : http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:zA6eHRPId0sJ:roleplayerguild.com/showthread.php%3F33348-Nicities-of-Necromancy-OOC/page6+&cd=76&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk
In mourning for the old site. But I guess its time for a fresh start. Most of you probably don't know me, but anyone who does is welcome to post here/communicate in whatever way this site allows so I can find you all again :)

For those of you who don't know me, I tend to be open to most genres RP wise, particularly if the setting intriguing enough, whether its high fantasy, sci-fi, apocalyptic or nation-building. I'm fond of worlds that have been well fleshed out, so don't worry about scaring me off with a wall of text.
