Josh, Matt, Celes, and Spruce all went down to the mess hall together. Once they got there, Spruce stopped for a moment, asking what happened to Anthony. For some reason, he'd assumed that he was kicked off the team.
"Anthony never got kicked off the team. He just woke up before Matt and I did." Josh said. "He's probably looking for a mission for us to do or something."

They appeared to be serving Chesto Berries today. Josh and Matt each took one, and sat down at one of the tables.
"So, anyway, there's been a few changes to our team since the last time we ran into each other." Josh said. "Hex left the team a while back. I'm not sure where she went, though. We've also recruited a new teammate. A Sableye named Xeno."
"Just to clarify, I'm male." Trey said. "You can tell from the sound of our voices most of the time. We aren't as different from the other races as you might think."
The blacksmith mentioned a cave west of their current location. According to him, there was a goblin town there that had fallen victim to a human attack. The rest of the group was eager to go there, Trey included.
"Let's go. I want to see those humans burn." he said.
He took to the skies once again, soaring above the group as they made their way to the goblin cave.
The group didn't seem to mind Trey joining them. It seemed like most of them had never seen an Ave before, which was understandable, since they usually don't live in forested areas like this. The Kobold clearly had no idea what an Ave was, and it seemed like the fish had heard about them, but had never actually seen one in person before now.
"I'd prefer that you don't call me 'it'." Trey said to the fish. "It kind of makes it seem like you see me as an animal or something. Know what I mean?"

Trey flew overhead, following the group to wherever they were going. They eventually arrived at a village that happened nearby, and went to a blacksmith, who appeared to have weapons waiting for them. There was nothing there that would be useful to him. He was much better with magic than he would ever be with any melee weapon.
The sound of Josh knocking over the bucket seemed to have attracted the attention of a couple of Pokemon from the room next to theirs. They seemed familiar, but he couldn't quite remember where he'd seen them before.
"Um... hello? I, um, heard something fall onto the floor, something heavy. I didn't know our rooms were so close to each other. Joe, right? From Beach Cave?"
Now he remembered them. This was the team they were with when they first encountered Anthony and Martin. They didn't seem to remember his name, but to be honest, he didn't remember theirs too well, either.
"It's Josh, actually." Josh said. "And you're...uh...Sprout and Cecilia, right?"

He was pretty sure those names weren't right. It didn't really matter, though. If he was wrong, they would correct him.
"So, we were just about to-"
"GOOD MORNING WORLD!!!"
Josh was interrupted by an earth-shaking shout from next door. "...Well, that probably woke up everyone in the guild." He said. "So, anyway, we were just about to go down and get breakfast. Care to join us?"
This isn't dying, is it?
"You can't save her."
"She's gone."
"You'll never find her."
Those three phrases echoed through Josh's head. He looked around, trying to find the source of the voices, but it was pitch black, and the voices seemed to be coming from multiple directions at once. He tried to get away, but the voice was just as loud as it was before.

Josh opened his eyes to find that he was lying on the ground in a puddle of water. Somehow, he managed to overturn the bucket in his sleep. Thankfully, Matt was already awake at this point.
"Having nightmares again, are we?" He said, picking up Josh's bucket. "I'll go refill this for you. Just sit tight for a moment."
Matt then left the room, leaving Josh with Xeno. He couldn't tell if Xeno was asleep or not. His eyes were still open, but he wasn't sure if Sableye slept with their eyes open. For all he knew they might not even sleep at all.

Before long, Matt returned and put Josh back in the bucket, which was now full of water once again. As they both went out to eat breakfast, Josh began to think about the nightmare he just had. "You can't save her", "She's gone", "You'll never find her". He knew that voice was referring to Kiera. She could be alive, dead, or worse, and he didn't know. He hoped that he would find her soon, or at least find out what happened to her.
The group insisted that they were friendly. According to them, the goblin was a thief who tried to raid their camp, and what they did was self-defense. Trey put his staff away and flew down to the ground, landing next to the group. He was still cautious, but if they wanted to attack they probably would have done it already.

"It seems like you're telling the truth." He said. "My name's Trey, by the way. I might stick with you for a while, if that's alright."
He then waited for a response from the group. They all seemed like they could hold their own in a fight. If he was lucky, they might even be able to stand up against the humans.
Trey soared through the air, keeping an eye on the forest below. He hadn't seen any villages in the past week - none that were still intact, anyway. All he'd been finding so far were piles of rubble, none of which were fit to live in. With the humans seeking out villages and destroying them, they were starting to become hard to find. He didn't expect to find one anytime soon.

He'd been flying for a while now, and his wings were starting to ache. He swooped down, perching in one of the trees below him. He would need to rest for a little while before he kept moving. He took out his staff, just in case he attracted unwanted attention from below, not that it was useful for much. It might make a decent melee weapon if someone happened to get too close, but that was it. Trying to cast spells with it would probably just light it on fire.

He looked nothing like he did before his village was destroyed. He had bags under his eyes because of how little sleep he got, he was covered in dirt and mud, and his robes were ripped and torn. All of the magic-enhancing enchantment on his robes had worn off at this point. The orb that used to be at the tip of his staff was missing, and it was now covered in mold. He only held on to these things because they were all he had left from home, and also because he didn't have anything better.

He noticed some movement out of the corner of his eye. He looked over to see a camp that had been set up nearby. He couldn't see any humans, but there was definitely something bad going on there. The moment he looked over, he saw a goblin get decapitated. He didn't see what happened before that, so for all he knew that could have been self-defense. He was still wary of this group, though, and for a good reason. He tried to move a little bit closer without being spotted. If these guys turned out to be a gang of murderous psychopaths, he was prepared to fly away from there as fast as possible.
Thankfully, one Thunderbolt was enough to turn the battle in their favor. Anthony knocked out Martin, and then teleported everyone back to the guild, including Troy and the Carbink.
"You know, a fight like this... it kinda reminds me of why and when I joined you guys in the first place. Thanks. I really couldn't have done it without any of you," Anthony said.
"I know you'd do the same thing for us." Josh said. "If Zane shows up again...I hope he doesn't...but if he does, I know you'll back me up. Why would I not do the same for you?"
Officer Bisharp handed Josh the reward money, then carried Martin off to the prison. "Let's hope he stays there this time." Josh said.

Matt then woke up, yawning a little. "So, I assume we won?" He said.
"Oh, you're awake!" Josh said.
Matt picked up Josh's bucket, and began heading back to their room, assuming Anthony and Xeno would follow him. This was the first time they've used their beds since they went to that mission in Crystal Chasm. They both needed some rest. They had a long day ahead of them tomorrow.
It took me a while, but my app's done. I'll probably jump in after you guys are finished with that boss battle.
