The important thing about BGs is that they all shouldn't be special snowflakes. While some would be good challenge maps, most of the used ones will be relatively simple. Swamps, forests, beach fronts, and the like. Just a backdrop, and often times not an obstacle.

I ran a Bleach RP with stats before. It worked out well once we got the system down. It kept people equal, but different, so that they knew their strengths and weaknesses and weren't going say sword to sword with a better swordsmen and expecting to win off swords alone.
And the animals get assassinated.

No. that was basically it.

But for serious, I totally tried to hit Aeryn with a Saito Suplex.
That fight consisted mostly of me attempting to get the upper ground against an airborne opponent, and Kamikazing him to death.

I think usually if it can be in a forest, then I am well within my literary rights to write it in. Preferably not always popping up with stuff that happens to be there to save my ass.
Like in my linked fight with Aeryn. That was a challenging map with its own tricks(mainly height, intensified sunlight), that we played with. Varying thickness with the glass, and how fragile they were, without getting carried away.
