Maoin became even more upset as Sol began to pet Lady Sorcha's belly. It was undignified, wrong, unworthy of her-

-what? The kitten found herself looking at the dragoness as she clearly enjoyed herself. After taking a quick mental note, the kitten simply looked on with a sort of dumbfounded surprise until Sol made her suggestion. Despite it being very ... embarrassing, the servant hoped her owner would ask for her help, but once again Lady Sorcha didn't acknowledge her presence despite a direct mention of her name.

The cat wordlessly turned towards the castle and set out for it. She had heard some of the initial conversation and quietly headed upstairs without really looking at the group of people gathered below. If everything else was already taken care of, then surely it would be best for her to head up here? Besides, it would at least mean she'd have a bit of time alone to be upset without anyone being able to look at her.

Maoin gave the hallways a quick scan before continuing.

Meowka allowed herself to be pulled along into the castle that naturally had fallen into complete decay and noticed that several hiding spots were made available behind various parts of collapsed rubble. Her ears perked up on her head as she began to try and listen to the environment, paying little attention to her companions and trying to ignore the dog that had traveled with them for whatever blasted reason.

Of course, her attempts to hear anything with interrupted by the sudden wave of excitement that ran over the archwizard that rarely seemed to happen. For a couple of seconds Meowka looked on with surprise until she quickly became annoyed with the prospect that she'd likely be unable to listen for a while. As the puppeteer calmed down though the cat found herself giving off a somewhat satisfied sigh in spite of herself- until a hand found itself on her head and began to pet her absentmindedly.

Yes, she was obviously worthy of this pampering but it wasn't what she had demanded at that moment. Though as the kitten looked at the knightess that would be traveling with them she couldn't help but comment. "Yo, knight girl. You do realize your armor makes nearly as much of a rackus as this oddly cheerful woman is right now?" Meowka gestured towards the woman that was petting her almost tiredly. "If anythings in here they'll be on top of us in no time, so you might want to take those metal thingies off. I'm not going to let my master bring me along if it guarantees my death."

Meowka was the definition of loyalty.

It was nice to know that Lady Solana was looking out for the dragoness as well even if she was just a chil-

'Little One!?' The cat's mouth practically dropped. It wasn't exactly a mighty title to bear, but it was hers wasn't it? That was her pet name! She remembered cherishing that name ever since Lady Sorcha decided to not drop her in the lake on that first meeting. This simply wasn't fair!

And if that wasn't bad enough the cat watched Lady Solana get patted on the head and a small frown couldn't help but cross her lips. Why would she be jealous? Of course she wasn't! The kitten's eyes watched the hand as it tussled the girl's hair affectionately ... the kitten forced herself to stop thinking about that. It was her owner's job to reward her with pets as she chose to. She wasn't supposed to ask for them. And besides, it wasn't as if Lady Sorcha's pets were any different than Lady Solana's pets aside from the assured attitude and the security and the trust they conveyed through each one as well as ...

The cat's ears dropped slightly as she realized that Lady Sorcha was ignoring her. Was this some sort of test? Was she still being punished from earlier, with Lady Sorcha still being irritated from the Marie incident? Maoin's tail went slightly between her legs as she thought about that. Maybe she should just head inside.

Meowka began to wake up as suddenly her crate was pierced with light and it felt like the world began to shift beneath her. Couldn't a cat take their nap in peace? By the time she was deposited at the wizard's feet she was already awake and feeling a little irritated. She seriously contemplated ignoring the woman and her blasted little dolls, but the little bastards hated her and would probably kick her awake if she wanted to return to her well earned sleep and she wouldn't be fed.

Fine.

Meowka stretched against the ground to pop her back a couple of times before standing up with a somewhat irritated look at the puppeteer. "Adventure. Fun." Although ultimately she'd follow the woman inside. Although something bothered her about this. "Why did you bring me along anyways? Did you want me to catch a mouse or something?" The prowler of the night wasn't against a good tussle but she wasn't exactly an expert in history.

"L-Lady Solana?" The cat was surprised as suddenly a small human figure latched onto her back seemingly from nowhere, although after a couple quick seconds of adjusting her frame it seemed that Maoin was ready to carry the girl around with a small sigh. "I'm more worried than anything ..." She wasn't exactly the strongest figure alive, but it'd have to do. Though as Lady Sorcha finished speaking and expressed her exhaustion the kitten looked towards her with a little concern before approaching.

"Mistress, is there anything I can do to make you more comfortable?" She hoped Lady Sorcha's illness wasn't acting up, but if the dragon bothered to look at her she would notice the kid was still on her back. "I can fetch you something from the cart if that's what you desire. Lady Sorcha. Ma'am." The kitten's voice was just a bit more meek than usual as she asked about doing her job seeming to not mind the eighty pound weight strapped to her back.

Meowka of course slept in the cart through these shenanigans and mewed happily to herself as she dreamed about getting her paws on a tasty mouse.

The kitten looked up as she noticed Lady Sorcha had separated herself from Marie at the behest of Lady Solana. The kitten let out a small sigh of relief and she was glad that the bodies hadn't started piling up yet. After a moment's hesitation the cat approached behind her owner's heels as she waited for either her or Lady Solana to notice her. She couldn't hide forever and ... Maoin gave a hopeful look over towards Lady Solana and twitched her ears slightly ... and maybe one of them would be happy to pet her.

Of course the massive structure in front of them was likely going to distract the younger noble and Maoin was ready to pounce in case the girl started running off spontaneously inside. It wouldn't be good for her to be separated from the group and she doubted the young lady would be too disappointed if she was stopped like that.

Otherwise she was content to listen to them talk. Maybe Lady Sorcha would start talking about one of her tales - the dragoness always seemed cheerful when she did that.

Despite the problems of the previous day and her near cat-napping by Marie and her confrontation with Lady Gwynn. Who was now married. The cat's eyes drifted down to the sword she carried ... that she had tried to give back. The girl let out a sigh, and a frown crossed her face. Perhaps it was irrational but she didn't want it anymore. She'd ask Lady Sorcha to get rid of it soon.

Lady Sorcha of course wasn't particularly happy with her either though. When she'd woken back up from Lady Solana petting her the cat found herself remaining silent on the issue of Marie. Partially because it was embarrassing. Partially because she didn't want the dragoness to be disappointed in her. Partially because she wanted to be tough enough to handle it on her own. But mostly because she was afraid of something bad happening to her mistress.

Of course the dragoness had found out anyways. She had given her enough time to fess up on her own and when she hadn't the Radiant Queen's anger was boiling the very air around them despite the appearance of civility she forced herself maintain ... after some post dinnertime discussion Lady Sorcha finished up her lecture with a degree of disappointment. "Why didn't you tell me? You are mine, and if someone hurts you, you are to tell me. I don't care how strong you are or how brave you think you are. I am here for you if you need me, Maoin. Remember that."

Lady Sorcha had stalked off after that looking like she was ready to murder Marie and Maoin for the most part hadn't really talked to her owner outside of questions required due to the nature of her work since then and otherwise had done her best to slip into a silent background and keep her mouth shut. Lady Lightsword seemed to do a good job of keeping Lady Sorcha from going ballistic at least whether or not she was aware of the circumstances.

The cat's mind snapped back to the present as she nearly tripped over a rock her foot went over. After recovering, she took a quick look around her. She was trying to stay far away from Marie and Lady Sorcha although she kept herself within earshot in case either one of them needed her.

Maoin looked around at the companions around her to see if any of them had anything to say. Or more importantly, pettings to give. She had forgotten if Lady Solana was allowed to come with them ... and if she was, where was she?

Meowka had for the entire trip thus far done what she did best: remain in her little cart. The cat let out a couple soft purrs from the blankets that she had hid herself beneath in hopes that those pesky dolls would lack the perception to be able to find her. For a couple moments she woke up and took a cursory look around the little enclave she had set up in one of the supply crates. Comfortable, warm, and most importantly - lazy.

It didn't seem like she had anything to do for her mistress anyways, although the cat would have preferred to stay home and guard their territory. She'd come out if she was called on ... possibly ... probably not.

Meowka soon returned to sleeping as if she had never woken up, enjoying a pristine cat nap. She dreamed of the dancing that she and the archwizard had done during the night of the festival ... and found herself with a smile on her face.
Maoin and Sol

The kitten frowned slightly as Lady Gwynn responded and refused to take the sword back but resisted the urge to go after her before Nitsa began speaking.

‘Lady Gwynn didn’t want a servant, she wanted a friend.’ … then what of all the times Lady Gwynn had openly admitted to not wanting a familiar - her in the first place? Before she even had a chance to prove herself? And besides it wasn’t as if they couldn’t be friends at the same time, right? The cat glowered slightly at the woman but listened as she spoke without any response.

Nitsa’s words of departure hurt but they rang true. It probably was best for her to leave Lady Gwynn alone in their care. As Nitsa left with a twirl and a flirtatious comment the cat had no reaction and simply felt empty.

She didn’t think Nitsa was a bad person and at one time she would have been thankful for the honesty … but she already knew everything that had been said aside from understanding the depth of Lady Gwynn’s guilt.

Obviously she was thankful for how her former mistress had helped her out with the demon. And she honestly wished she had served her prior owner better. But that didn’t mean she was simply going to tell Lady Gwynn what she wanted to hear. “I’m so happy with my new mistress and am glad to be alive! I don’t hate you and am glad you created me! Let’s be just friends since all my romantic desire is gone!” But it’d be a lie, and after crying in Luna’s arm a week earlier the cat had realized that it wasn’t her job to alleviate any guilt her former owner felt with any sort of deceit. There was more than one way to stand up to someone.

The cat turned tail and left ears low to her head and tail pointed towards the ground as she began to walk through various celebrating people on the way home. She needed to talk with Lady Sorcha as well, but she was likely already at the dance. For now she just wanted to lay down in bed and sleep for a bit.

Of course, people didn’t always get what they wanted and Maoin was hardly an exception to that one. ”Kitty!” A small girly voice called out as the cat felt something impact her from behind again.

As she fell over from the “assault” she’d hear another voice, likely she’d recognize both of them anyhow. ”Solana, it’s not nice to jump on people from behind. I told you already.” A male voice to be sure.

”But Percy, she looks sad. Hugs are good for that, right?” Sol said as she gave Maoin a big hug.

The kitten let out a slight yelp as once again she was knocked to the ground but for the most part remained still as she recognized the voices. ”It’s fine, any friends of the Lightsword family are friends of mine. And thanks for your concern, Solana, but I’m fine.”

In spite of herself the girl had been somewhat effective, the cat’s ears lifting just a bit as new life made its way around her.

”Ehhh? But I am a Lightsword now. Effectively.” Solana said as she stood and looked down at Maoin. She was just so cute. It was likely the cat ears, but they were just really cute to Sol. She couldn’t help but reach down and pet the catgirl’s head. She had an overly happy but dumb look on her face. Percy just stood back, quiet.

Maoin tried to resist the urge, but eventually she started to lean her head back and let out a happy purr as she enjoyed the attention. Maoin eventually managed to get enough self control to respond before returning to enjoying the pettings. ”Lady Solana, corr- mewwwww?”

Sol eased a little on the pettings but didn’t completely stop. ”Ehh? What? Corr-- “Corrupting”? “Correcting”? What were you trying to say?” Solana asked, somewhat confused. It was hard to understand what the cat was trying to say when she stopped actually talking halfway through.

Maoin’s tail went back and forth and she let out a small contented sigh as the pettings continued. ”Correct, Lady Solana. I apologize for not speaking clearly.” Of course, she didn’t feel bad about it. It was difficult to feel bad when a nice hand was rubbing your ears.

”I mean, there’s nothing to feel bad about. As long as you’re feeling better than I’m happy.” Sol said as she continued. ”Ahh, but, weren’t you at that dinner thingy? Is it over already?” The girl had to ask.

Maoin frowned slightly as the dinner was brought up. ”I … I had to leave early.” She contemplated saying more, but in truth Marie’s threats managed to get to the cat and she remained silent. ”I was just heading home so I could prepare the place for Lady Lightsword and my mistress Lady Sorcha when they finish the dance.”

”Oh, yes. The dance was tonight. I’ve wanted to see Luna, but I’ve yet to actually do so. Would you mind if we tag along with you?” Percy asked, looking to Maoin.

Sol nodded, ”Oh yes! I’ve been wanting to meet Luna too. Stories only go so far.” Her pettings intensified a bit as she thought about it.

Maoin was once again rendered unable to respond to either of them as her legs even moved and her tail and ears twitched happily as the pets became too intense for her to handle. ”Mreooooowwww”

Perhaps she wasn’t useful, but at least the girl was happy. Lady Solana was quickly ending up on her favorite persons list.

”Sol, she looks happy, but it’s a bit difficult for her to answer like that.” Percy said, pointing to Maoin’s intense movements.

Sol pulled her hand off for a second when she realized the cat’s movements. They were both in a little fantasy-land it seemed. ”Ahh, I guess ‘sorry’ isn’t quite the word you want to hear…” She put her hand back on the cat’s head and start to pet softly. ”But, uh, yea. What were we talking about?”

”Miss Maoin taking us back to the dorm she shares with Luna and her familiar.”

”Oh, right!”

Maoin pouted slightly as she returned from that bliss back to a normal sense of awareness. Still though, she realized that Lord Percy was right. After looking around for a couple of seconds to make sure her surroundings were still the same the kitten stood up with a smile. ”Yes, I apologize my lord and my lady! Let me lead you home.” The cat began to walk before taking a look over her shoulder. ”Are either of you hungry or require assistance in preparing for the evening?”

”I’m feeling fine!” Sol proudly said before her stomach grumbled a little. She obvious needed something. She really couldn’t deny it either. ”I, uhh, could use a little bit. Maybe.”

Percy laughed at this a little bit before answering himself. ”Ahh, yes, I could use some myself. Oh and please, just call me Percy. It’s what just about everyone calls me. “Lord” only really belongs in diplomacy.”

Maoin frowned slightly before responding. ”I can prepare a meal for you both then.” The cat began to lead them back to her house, opening the door for the pair of them and letting them in while sitting them down at the table while she went to the kitchen and began to do her work obviously a little cheered up.

”I apologize for my memory, but what brought the pair of you here again? Aside from seeing Lady Lightsword, that is?”

”Honestly, father brought us along. I hate to admit, but he dotes on Luna a bit. She was the only girl born to our mother so he played a bit of favorites. To be fair, I think we all did a bit.” Percy said as he sat down. ”She turned out a great kid, so I think it works out quite well.”

Maoin nodded. ”I’m sure your father is pleased to have a new lightsword then?” The kittens eyes drifted over to Lady Solana. ”But I think all of your family has turned out well from what I’ve heard. But I’m glad all of you watched over here … but she isn’t a kid anymore, you know?”

”Heh, I’m well aware of that. Though, she’ll always be a kid to me.” Percy joked a bit. ”She’s been more than capable of taking care of herself since she was little. I’ve never been too worried about her.”

Maoin nodded. ”Well, I’ve been taking care of her for now. She never leaves a large mess at least and she seems to appreciate my cooking!” The cat continued her work as she focused on her subject. ”Is there anything I can get the pair of you to drink?”

”I think we can both do with just water, if you’re offering.

”Water is fine…” Sol said, seeming to want something else, though she really wasn’t sure what she wanted herself. ”So, you live here with Luna and your ‘mistress’?”

Maoin brought over two glasses of water for the pair of them before returning to her work in the kitchen. ”There you two go. Yes, I live here with the pair of them and they are both very kind to me. My mistress is the grand dragon Lady Sorcha and as my owner she usually keeps me fairly busy. But she is kind and generally prevents the work from becoming too much, although she does enjoy a good pampering.” The cat’s thoughts drifted to the harsh scrubbing her owner enjoyed every time they took a bath.

”Oh yea! Luna has a dragon familiar. That’s really interesting! I’ve never seen a dragon before. Is it majestic?” Sol had to ask.

Maoin gave off a big smile. ”She’s pretty and majestic and wonderful and amazing! Maybe you could convince her to turn into her dragon form - oh I can’t imagine how wonderful that would be!” It was rather obvious that Maoin was quite the big fan of her owner. ”She has these wings that are wonderful to be wrapped in though. Quite the safe place to take a good nap in.”

”Oh! That sounds fun! I want to try!” Sol excitedly said. She was hoping she had the chance tonight! She’d stay here tonight one way or another! ”So, what are you making to eat?”

Maoin finished preparing the meal in short order. ”Nothing too complicated, ma’am. Just a simple thing devised in Leinster known as ‘pizza’. Apparently it’s a national favorite there.” The cat pulled the ‘pizza’ out of the oven and placed it on the table in front of the pair before giving them a smile. ”Eat as you wish!”

”As you say.” Percy said as he looked over the ‘pizza’, contemplating how to eat it properly. Sol merely yelled in happiness and grabbed at one of the sliced pieces and took a bite.

”This is really good!” Percy looked at her behavior curiously but imitated her.

”Oh yes, quite so!”

Soon enough, the food was finished. It was interesting and nothing they had ate before. ”It’s really good! Kitty!” Sol said with a smile across her face. ”You said it was called ‘pizza’ right? That was interesting but good.”

The cat looked over at the two as she enjoyed the meal as well. It was a good thing to know the nobility of England also enjoyed such a traditional Irish dish. ”Thanks Lady Solana! I try my hardest to replicate the recipes from home even if I haven’t made them in a while!” The cat looked towards Lord Percy with a degree of interest. ”Do you plan on spending the night in St. Sappho academy? I can offer to let you stay here for the night …”

The kitten suddenly had a thought. ”What does your father think about Lady Luna liking girls … doesn’t that make succession interesting?”

Percy had a look of shock over his face a bit before mellowing out a bit and scratching his head. ”Ahhh, well, as I said. Father dotes on her a bit. It wouldn’t bother him much. Still, I suppose more than that it’s been fully confirmed then?”

The cat nodded. ”I mean even I get a little flustered when I see a cute guy. But Lady Lightsword looks at them as if they aren’t even there … then again, I’ve been trained to be flexible like that.” The cat paused for a second. ”But perhaps it is just a phase for her? Someday she’ll settle down and have a family?”

”I’m not entirely sure. She’s never really had a problem being around males. I… Had my suspicions though, considering her actions into her mid-years. She always seemed to shy away from maidens it seemed.” Percy joked a bit, ”So, I’m not too surprised if that ends up true.”

The kitten looked over at Percy with a smile. ”Yeah! Wouldn’t surprise me - I best Lady Sorcha appreciates the attention at least!” For a couple seconds the smile remained on before it fell just slightly. ”Although I haven’t been so lucky. My owner doesn’t want to get involved with me like that and any other attempts have been futile.” The words hung in the air for a few seconds.

Percy went silent himself, studying the cat for a couple of seconds. Sol didn’t really follow the conversation much up until now, though the look on the cat’s face. She stood and tugged on Percy’s arm. He looked at her with a confused look, thought she rolled her eyes and walked over to the cat and hugged her. ”Well, if they’re not ‘getting involved’ with someone that can make such good food, then they’re dumb.” The child said.

Maoin’s expression dropped suddenly as she realized what just transpired. ”O-O-o what?!” The cat looked down at the child seemingly confused. ”My-my lady, aren’t you a bit too young to be talking like that!?” It was rather apparent the cat was utterly embarrassed.

”What? ‘Talk like that?’ I don’t get it. Don’t you just mean they’re ignoring you?” Sol asked. She was so confused. What did she mean by that?

The cat looked over at Lord Percy, begging for aid.

Percy didn’t know what to say either. He just looked at the cat as if saying, “I don’t know.”

Maoin frowned dramatically as she looked at Lord Percy as if she had been betrayed. ”I … I was just talking about getting pets from. Y-yeah! No one ever pets me!”

”Ah, yea, that makes sense…” Percy said shrugging. It was good to clean up your own messes. Right? It built character. Or something.

”You don’t have anyone to pet you?” Sol asked , trying to make sure.

”Y-Yep! Exactly!” Maoin nodded several times. Nope, she never got petted. Not by her mistress, not by the knightess. Nope, no one.

Sol made a frowny face as her hand reached to the cat’s head. ”I can change that!”

The cat put her fingers together. ”Oh I mean I’m not supposed to ask for them or anything so its-”

Sol just pet Maoin again. ”Ask for what?”

The cat pressed her head against Lady Solana affectionately. ”N-nothing! D-don’t worry about meeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwww” It was rather apparent Maoin enjoyed the girl’s company at this point.

Percy put his hands together, ”Oh my, I forgot. I needed to speak to father. Miss Maoin, would you be able to watch after Sol for a bit?” Percy asked as he stood. ”I think she’d enjoy spending time with you.”

”Oh really? Well, I don’t mind staying here.”

Maoin simply nodded into the pets unable to respond and simply bobbed her head slightly and let her ears and tail twitch. ”Ooooooaaaaaahhhhhkaaay.”

Percy nodded and stood. ”I’ll see you later Sol.”

”Ok, bye bye!” Sol said, waving bye to Percy with her free hand and continuing her petting of the cat.

Unless Lady Sol decided to start another conversation she would see Maoin’s eyes close as she continued to be pet and her body gradually move to slower breaths aside from her ears which twitched happily with contentment despite her gradually joining the realm of sleep.

When the others returned they would see Maoin taking a nap with her head resting in Lady Solana’s lap purring due to some combination of sweet dreams and the pleasant state she was sleeping in.

Maoin's ears dropped just slightly as Lady Gwynn declined to respond and it seemed her wife responded instead. The girl found herself a little upset that even now the woman refused to dress decently ... but it was bittersweet since it was rather apparent the foreign woman in front of her was alright with that and it was rather obvious that Lady Gwynn was gradually becoming some sort of champion and not simply marauding innocent villages like some moorish pirate.

Though as Nitsa continued to speak about Lady Gwynn's feelings a little frown crossed Maoin's face. Something that made her feel undeserving of her affection? That wasn't her fault? The cat frowned for a bit ... so she hadn't been tossed out for trying to kill herself? Maoin seemed a little confused. But wasn't that exactly when Lady Gwynn had decided to get rid of her?

Unless of course Lady Gwynn blamed herself for the entire circumstance. But that would be ridiculous, wouldn't it? After all, she'd been the one to wield the blade, hadn't she?

The cat took a couple of breaths before approaching Lady Gwynn with a slight frown. "... you blame yourself for those things, don't you? The library, my servile attitude, and ... and that night?" The cat looked on for a couple of seconds before continuing. "You think if you had somehow managed to accept being my mistress I'd be happier?" Maoin's expression softened a bit. "You feel guilty about having left me, don't you?"

Maoin gave Lady Gwynn a brief hug before backing away. "The only thing you should blame yourself for is making me in the first place. It is cruel to bring a pet ... me ... into the world like this unwanted. All I ever wanted was to feel loved ... and like I'm making a difference for my owner at least." A frown crossed her face as a dark thought crossed her mind before she tossed it out and countinued after a brief pause. "But everything else is on me. You deserve everything I had to give and more - the failures while I served you were mine, not yours."

Maoin once again offered the sword back to Lady Gwynn.

Meowka simply nodded, stretching her arms out as far as they would go with a small smile as they continued. Eventually the pair of them returned home and the two of them began to put themselves together for the dance.

Maoin's ears dropped as Lady Gwynn once again reminded her that she was created by a noblewoman that never wanted her and existed simply because she was chosen randomly. Being with the Radiant Queen of the Heavens had given her a bit more confidence but sometimes the painful reminder of her former mistress' true feelings festered like a wound that hadn't quite healed. It hurt to say it like that but ... "Lady Gwy-"

Whatever the cat had been about to say was quickly interrupted by Ritsa tackling the pirate to the ground. The kitten nearly leapt forward to defend her instinctively but stopped herself as she realized it wasn't a real threat. That was the girl in the tavern earlier, right? Maoin's eyes were quickly drawn away from the scene however as she heard the sound metals and gems moving and notice the woman quickly identified as 'Nitsa' approaching. It took only a couple of seconds to realize she was human, but she was clearly exotic as if she had come from some oriental area. She was pretty, but her tone seemed cold and commanding in a way that made Maoin feel just slightly uncomfortable.

Of course the moment she was petted Maoin's opinion of the woman immediately improved, and the kitten found herself wondering with a great degree of curiosity if the woman belonged to either a merchant family or to a high noble family. Of course the cat was surprised when the noble clearly knew who she was, and even more surprised by the next fact.

"M-Married?! And I wasn't invited to the ceremony!" The reaction was nearly instinctual and jarred itself into whatever conversation was going on and the cat couldn't help but give a pout over towards the direction of the noblewoman. "I apologize for whatever difficulties she caused while she was being prepared for that. Or have you found some method of convincing her to dress decently?" The cat finished her response, blushed slightly from her rant, and listened to what the woman had to say next.

Didn't deserve her? Didn't deserve her affection? Maoin looked over at Lady Gwynn as if she was a little crazy for a couple seconds before a confused look crossed her face. What had Lady Gwynn done wrong to not deserve it? The cat couldn't find an answer in her mind, but ... "... Lady Gwynn ... is that what you really think ... you never did anything wrong ... why?" Based on Maoin's stare, it was rather apparent this would not be an easy conversation for her former owner to back out of.

Meowka's eyes opened groggily from within the tree, only really registering the end of Mistress Katherine's statement. The cat took her time to stretch her back out using the branched and then hoped the ten feet straight towards the ground without any real issues. "The dance? We are actually going?" The cat was honestly a little surprised that the woman actually had decided to go with her. "I have a cat's grace, but I suppose we should dress more richly for the occasion, archwizard?" It was rather clear that thoughts of pampering and of wearing fine clothes filled the cat's mind as she imagined a life of pampering.

Maoin blinked a couple of times. "S-something wrong Lady Gwynn?" The cat blinked a couple of times before frowning as she returned her look off in the distance. "I-I heard from the headmistress that you worked as a maid in her manor for a while ... that's how you managed to buy the sword, isn't it? That must have been really hard for you ..." The kitten lifted up her sword a bit from her sheathe. "I would have worked with you ... I know why you didn't just ask me for the money but did you think I was going to tease you about it?"

The cat gave Lady Gwynn another hug and frowned, giving her enough time to respond briefly to that statement before drawing it out of her sheathe and holding the handle towards her former mistress. Her eyes watered slightly. "But I think you should take it back. I've thought about this since we last talked and I realized you are right to have left me. You created me - and I failed as your pet, servant, and familiar. I betrayed you. I deserved to be abandoned by you and it was generous of you to have the headmistress check up on me. I didn't deserve that. Your next familiar should have it - I'm not sure when that will be, but I wish them the best of luck and hope they are able to serve you better than I was."

Maoin paused for a moment, thinking. "B-by the way. We talked after the library ... I stand by what I said then. If you ever need someone let me know. I know you don't trust me after that night and perhaps that's wise but ... but I'd hate to see anything bad happen to you. Even if it's high risk pirate enterprise. It shouldn't be hard to find my new mistress if you need me - and I think the two of you would make good friends anyways."

Maoin nodded as Lady Gwynn replied, pressing herself against the woman and letting a few tears roll out. For a couple of seconds the cat thought about the words and ... she didn't know what was going on? The cat paused for a moment before looking up at Lady Gwynn. It was rather apparent that Headmistress Livia knew the goings on of the campus ...

... but if Lady Gwynn didn't know that probably meant that she had been coming by simply to mess with her or interupt her attempts to fall in love with someone else. It was likely that the noble didn't know about how much of a social impasse that was.

"You- you were just interrupting? Well ... thanks anyways." The cat didn't move despite that realization. Getting pets and affection always made her feel better. It probably wouldn't be worth telling her about what happened in the room anyways since she was either likely going to dismiss it or make fun of her for it.

The cat let out a sigh and then smirked slightly while her eyes still watered. "It seems my romantic encounters are always doomed to fail at this rate!" Both of her mistresses had rejected her and Marie had tried to catnap her. A slightly depressed look crossed the girl's face before she shook it off and looked back up towards Lady Gwynn.

"By the way Lady Gwynn, can I ask you something?" There had been a single question she had been wanting to ask Lady Gwynn for some time now - she loosened her hug a bit but still remained attached but she would allow her former mistress to back out if she wanted to.
