Current Trying to get back into the swing of things (for a 2nd time!)

Bio

Hi there I'm Rultaos, or simply Rult as some of my friends call me. I first got into RP'ing on two different sites back when I was in High School. The forums of the games Minecraft and Spiral Knights. Both had game-related RP's, as well as off-topic ones regarding fantasy and sci-fi. This was around 3-4 years ago. I wasn't really good at it back then, but I met a lot of great people and feel like I really improved since then.

For any of you who are curious, this was one of my biggest RP undertakings before I got into this site (My username also comes from this as a tribute to it!). It's not really a very well-written roleplay (or a very well-managed one for that matter). But it really meant a lot to me because of how far it went, how long it survived, and how it inspired my fellow players there. It always fills me with a sense of nostalgia whenever I glance at it in my bookmarks...

I got into RPGuild back when it was still using the old server (the one that got taken down after Mahz got behind on his pay and the providers ended their service without warning). I was pretty bummed when this happened because I was already actively participating in a number of roleplays, and I could only stay in contact with a select few guildmates on the Facebook group. Eventually, the long wait was over, and the site was given renewed life after a few bumps in the road that guildmaster Mahz faced in his attempts to resurrect this place. It was a good day for many including myself when this site slowly started getting more and more features.

2014 was my second year in college and was a very stressful time for me. Mostly concerning academics, with a few occasional problems regarding friends and fellow students alike. Because of this, I had to suddenly drop out of roleplaying for a while in order to have the time to get my real life back in order.

Now, I've returned to the site, and am hoping to get back into the groove of roleplaying and make more great friends and have even greater adventures through whatever huge universe your brilliant minds can think of! If you wanna invite me to play, or even just have a friendly chat about anything, send a message my way and I'll reply as soon as I can =)

For those of you who are wondering, my roleplay interests include: Sci-Fi, Military, sometimes Fantasy, a Fandom one if I'm familiar with the source material, heck I'd be willing to dabble in an Apocalypse setting as well. I'm also willing to try new things as well if it seems fascinating enough. So hit me up with an idea any time and I'd be happy to share my thoughts with you.

Well, I feel like I've used up enough for your time. Thanks for caring enough to read all this, and I hope you enjoy your roleplay adventures as much as I have in the past and the present ^_^

That looked cool :). with these forum avatars, it felt like the unicorns and rainbows were making me trip :O

Anybody think I should do some work on my CS to make it less serious?

Feel free to add anything if you want. Right now, it's probably enough for him to be the witty, rich douchebag. Exact opposite of my character.
Following the cobblestone path laid out before him, Apollo neared the town. Not too far away, he could see other groups of people heading inside as well, walking on several branches of paths leading into different gates. Each gate had a signt hat said "Welcome to Windswept Oasis".

Stopping at the stone gate just a few paces ahead of him, Apollo took a deep breath. "This is it. The start of a new life for me..." He thought. With that in mind, he entered the town. Already, he could see crowds of people gathering before him, players interacting with both NPC's and each other. Apollo was aware of how realistic the NPC's were said to be. He supposed that roleplaying as an adventurer would be fun as well. Immersion was one thing that he had found lacking in other online RPG's. Looking around the general area, he spotted someone at the gates.

It was a Nobelle, like him. But she seemed to be curled up against the stone wall. Apollo couldn't tell if this was an NPC or a player, so he just decided to smile and wave at her. If it was an NPC, it might trigger a quest or event. If it was a player, they would hopefully take kindly to it. Seeing as no pop-up or notification appeared, Apollo assumed it was a player (or an NPC whose only purpose was aesthetics, or a later quest). The girl seemed a little startled at the friendly gesture, and Apollo thought it wise to leave her to her business. He walked off further into the town. on the world

As he walked along, he could spot several people carrying all sorts of crates and sacks. Some of them actually looked like players. "Interesting... Is this some sort of mass quest? Is the village preparing for something? Apollo asked himself. He had also heard about how quests were more than just ways to earn wealth, and actually had an effect on the virtual world. He wondered how he'd be able to get in on the action. His question was answered almost immediately as he unknowingly wandered into the village market, and saw a woman running one of the vegetable stalls. She waved at Apollo, as if gesturing him to approach. The Nobelle complied and walked towards the stall. By now, he could see that another player was there was well, a male Veni Yan by the sight of the tattoos.

"Do you mind giving me hand? Things have been hectic lately and there just aren't enough people to make deliveries." She said. A quest notification popped up on the side of Apollo's field of vision. Smiling, he decided to accept the quest. "Of course ma'am. What can I do to help." Apollo replied. "Great. Ok, I need you to take this crate of produce to the Inn. The village has had a lot of visitors recently and the Inn needs enough food to feed everyone." The vendor said. Apollo nodded. "Understood, I'll take care of this." He said. "The Innkeeper will make sure you're compensated nicely." The vendor assured him.

Picking up the crate, Apollo realized it was about half the size of his body. Most likely because the Nobelles were the shortest of the three races. It was rather heavy, but he felt that he could manage. It was then however, that he realized that he had no idea whee the Inn was. "Damn... I should've explored more before taking my first quest. I guess I got too excited." He thought. He decided to ask for directions. Turning towards the Veni Yan at the stalls, Apollo spoke.

"Excuse me, would you happen to know which direction the Inn is in?" He asked the player.

Okay, let me put it simply. Durun isn't funny. His history is cruel, his personality has no quirks that give me a position to make jokes with, and his abilities are serious. Everybody has that right now, but especially Durun. With most it is like "fun with the Washington Post," even so I can work with that. However, Durun is like trying to make light of genocide. I don't find doing that fun or funny or anything that should be fun or funny. I'm trying to understand what made you say "hmmm... a comedy, huh? I think I will make Hannibal Lector."Right now it seems to me that you saw something remotely medieval and pulled out a character you have wanted to play for a while. I'm totally cool with that, by the way, I do it myself. And I am not gripeing about your character. I am trying to understand. So the question I am trying to ask is "perfect situation rolls around for your character to make people laugh. What would it be?"

I guess only Rabid would really be able to help out there... I've given it some thought and even I'm having a bit of difficulty thinking of a funny situation for Durun

Perhaps if his character were tweaked a bit. Like, he has a fear of dogs or something? If he had flaws like that, I'm sure it would lead to some funny moments given his personality.

I could really use some material to go off of. If you folks don't mind sharing something you had in mind, that would be great. I can pick and choose some little things to play off of, but nothing juicy off the bat, Durun in particular. I don't see any jokes rolling around with him that are actually funny rather than just flat out inappropriate or degrading. Could use some ideas, Rabid.

What are you trying to make exactly? I can't help 'cause I'm not entirely sure what you're asking for XD
I'm willing to accept "World of the Blind" and "Evil Dead". But for "Fear and self-loathing"... I don't think being able to control the emotions of others fall within the context of Demonic Magic.

As for "Invocation of Heavy Metal"... Rock and Roll doesn't really fit in (despite how wacko the world already is, and how badass that would be, it just doesn't in my view). I was thinking that we turn it into a Classical symphony instead. Watch Demonic Knights suddenly summon an Undead orchestra to play music that buffs up the summoner and their allies. They could play music like this. Plus, an Orchestra would fit better with your Nobleman character :)

I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks, though.

I remembered. Even though there wasn't anything but standard.:)I don't think serious people make the RP not a comedy. It's really the interactions that matter.

If you're aware of the N-Word, then I guess I can accept you :). Like I said, there's nothing wrong with serious people every now and again, as long as they're not too common. I guess if this RP were Fairy Tail (which by the way, I draw some inspiration from), then your character would probably act as our Gajeel.
@Everyone: While the atmosphere of the RP is supposed to be light and funny, and doesn't mean that everyone is required to be wacky. There can be some serious people, but I'd like to keep that at a minimum. Besides, I haven't accepted RabidAnubis yet because he's forgetting something in his app.

@Supreme Vampiric Evil(SVE): Character is accepted :). Feel free to discuss any ideas you have for Demonic Magic. I'm still open to suggestions.
As they say, better late than never :).

Application is good, and a dark contrast to everyone else, I must say, However, like Endrance, you are forgetting something.

I'd leave his age the same, myself. You've kind of got the "untested young commander vs. a somewhat older and more experienced team" thing going. A well-used trope, maybe, but a good one. Lots of comic/dramatic room to work with, so to speak.

Perhaps I will :)

Also Jim, you should probably know that Elemental Knights have the ability to control all four elements, and are not restricted to one. Of course, that doesn't mean you're not allowed to specialize (you can still keep your character fire-focused if you want). I'm just saying that Anna can learn other elements if she wishes.
