Soft footsteps echoed off the walls of the college. Myrn had been at the college since yesterday, following the trail of her savior. So far her leads have told her that her savior was heading to the college, so she guessed that he must have been a mage of some sort. But than again, she also knew that her savior was an orc, and she has never heard of orc mages. Than again most orcs aren't known to save the lives of elves either. Whoever he was, he was definitely an exception from the norm. But despite that, Myrn has had no luck of finding him so far. Even when she asked around yesterday no one has seen an orc by her description. So today, after gathering the rest of her supplies from the college, she was going to find the headmaster himself and ask him about Myrn's savior. From what she managed to figure out herself, the headmaster was an eysire named Khan. She has met a few Eysire in the past, all of them mercenaries. Fearsome with their weapons and their magic. Myrn could understand how one managed to rise to the rank of Headmaster. The fact that he was a demonmancer made her uneasy however. She's never dealt with demons before but if tales about them held any weight, demons were nothing but trouble, and their masters are not much better. At best they were fooled by the demons promises of power or forced to rely on them, but never has a deal with a demon ever ended happily. Myrn hoped that her meeting with Khan would be uneventful. Eventually Myrn was in the teacher's hall. Somewhere here was Khan's office and Myrn should be able to find Khan there. If not him, than perhaps a teacher who knows where he is at or when he'll return. The doors had their own distinctive looks about them but nothing that really tells Myrn which office was Khans. There was no name tags and if she had to guess which one was his door, she would think it was a portal to hell or a gate made from dragon bones. Unbeknownst to her however Myrn was getting closer to Khan's office and the danger within. Just as Myrn passed Khan's door she stumbled. Look down at her feet she noticed an odd vine growing from underneath the door. "What-" Before Myrn could ask her question she was attacked. The several vines wrapped around her leg and pulled her towards the door, smashing her through it. It flung her to the far side of the office where she would have crashed into a cabinet if Myrn hadn't reacted. Even as she flew through the air Myrn readied herself for the impact, landing on her feet. When the vines lashed out at her again they were cut down. "Hmph! You'll have to do better than that." In Myrn's hand was her Dar'Missan; a great elven curved blade. Despite how slender the blade was it could focus the speed and force of each swing onto a narrow point, cutting through even plate armor in the hands of a master. And in Myrn's hands, these vines were nothing. At least that's what she thought before they lashed out at her again. But Myrn didn't falter and fought back. "Kiai! Hiya! TAKE THIS!" Myrn shouted in fury as she danced around the office, cutting off the vines as they tried to get near her. But she was also trying to fight her way towards the exit as the longer she stayed in the office, the more vines that started to attack her. She knew it wouldn't be long before the entire room may as well collapse onto her, so she needed to get out before she gets overwhelmed.
Gritting her teeth Meirin took a defensive stance once the battle went under way. She was not fooled by the robed man's lies when he said he was a Demonomancer, as Ssarak told her the truth before hand. She focused on the guardsmen near her and Darius. Luckily two fled before the fight evening out the numbers. The pale guard screamed at them, but Meirin wasn't going to just stand there and take it. Just as he attacked Meirin moved forward and dodged him. As he lunged to where she once stood Meirin raised her monk's spade to chop him in the back of the head. That's when she saw the demon. She hesitated just long enough that after she swung her weapon, she only managed to leave a graze in the pale guard's back. Meirin resumed her defensive stance but glared at the demon before her eyes. Ssarak had told her that the robed man was a Psychomancer, and it wasn't as though she didn't believe him. But this demon... Meirin did not want to expose herself to this monster. This is what they came for, wasn't it? To find out where these demons were coming from? Meirin's mind raced before realizing that she was in a bad position. Two against one wasn't good even if one of her opponents was a scruffy guardsmen. It was obvious to her that this pale guard was not normal if his teeth and demeanor was anything to go by. "Focus Meirin! Take them out one at a time!" The demon made a sweeping attack at Meirin which she dodged easily. She used the momentum to preform a weaving technique while she was in the air. It was a wind one which she can use to propel her in any direction once she finished the movements, and she decided to jump over the pale guard and towards Ssarak's opponent, the much more skilled and better armed guard captain. She also used her wind weaving technique to push the pale guard down, which should give her some time to help Ssarak. Once she landed Meirin flanked her new opponent with Ssarak, who had just attempted to tackle the guard captain. Taking just a moment to analyze the situation Meirin swept at the captain's legs. She would help Ssarak knock the captain down and finish him off taking out one of the bigger threats in this fight.
At this point Meirin knew things could only get worse. When Lyn got out the first thing Meirin did was make sure Lyn didn't go too far. But during that moment Meirin was distracted and wasn't able to stop Alaira. Meirin didn't know what was happening to her and frankly she was a bit glad that Alaira had been temporarily stopped, but that didn't even last long before she tried to kill someone again. At this point Meirin was considering knocking out Alaira for the rest of the trip, but now Meirin would like as much help as she can get. "Lyn stay with Alaira, please. She needs you right now." Lyn's eyes widened when Alaira moved, the half Elf's fast and rapid reactions caused the child to pause in mid step. Lyn's hand considered seeking out her dagger as the scene filled with tension. Instead it just tightly clutched at her tunic front while she stood in place. She was scared, new to such atmosphere while she watched the adults talk in less then comfortable voices. Most of it she understood far too well. A fact she wished was otherwise but now, nothing could change it. Her head jerked to Mei, seeing the woman who made sure she didn't wander off, and seemed to plead for help. However, no words came into the air, not from Lyn's mouth or mind. Just a pure, terrified expression filled her face. It was only softened by the woman's next small gesture. Meirin gave Lyn, who nodded her understanding, a reassuring smile before standing up to face the guards. Her face looked much more serious. She flourished with her weapon as she stood next to Darius. She looked at the guardsmen in the eyes before raising her weapon at them. "If any of you have ears and a least bit of wit, than you have heard about this weapon. The Monk's Spade. With it I will make your grave and fill with your corpse. Your lives aren't worth throwing away like this." This wasn't a threat or even a suggestion. As much as Meirin didn't want it to come to this, she was mentally and physically prepared to kill these men and put them into a shallow grave. Her eyes held a gaze as steely as the metal her Monk's Spade was made of. As she spoke to the guardsmen she gave Ssarak a somber mental message. _"I'm sorry Ssarak, but I don't think we can avoid this fight anymore."_ As Meirin moved into a fighting stance she also held another thought. _"And to that Psychomancer listening to this, you know who I am. You know what I'm capable of. And you know that your magic means nothing to me."_ Although her back was turned from the robed man Meirin knew where he was at, and it was as though she was glaring at him with her very mind.
UserName: Ryonara Character name: Myrn Vaan'Atisha Age: 27 Mageblood type: None Favoured Magic Class: None Previous Magic training: None Race: Wood Elf Appearance: ![enter image description here](http://i.imgur.com/mX2Mu52.jpg "enter image title here") Short Bio: "Blade that cannot bend will break." That was the quote that defined Myrn's life. She was born in the Atisha Clan, nomadic wood elves. While they have a homeland in Ghannos, they travel far and wide to wherever they are welcomed, seeking to spread the ways of their people to anyone willing to entertain them. As a Wood Elf Myrn took to the bow in her early years. She excelled at the sport, and by the age of fourteen, she had joined the hunting party in her clan, a long distance shooter. Around that time there was some tensions between some of the clans for political reasons, and eventually it turned into a war that lasted for about five years. Myrn was just sixteen when she was made into a scout, and that was when she first took her steps into becoming a Vaan'Dred. At the beginning, Myrn killed plenty of others with her longbow. They wwere just blurs on the horizon where she aimed her bow. It meant no more to her than shooting animals. It wasn't until the first winter of that war that she learned what it was like to see the face of a person when you kill them. It was a scout from the opposing clan who surprised Myrn while she was on watch. They caught each other by surprised; Myrn had her bow at her side and panicked, trying to string an arrow when he was half a yard away. It was the only thing she knew to do. Of course, he struck first with his blade, and Myrn just fell back in shock. But his mistake was assuming because he had drawn blood and she had fallen, that Myrn was dead. She rushed at him the moment he turned his back on her towards the sleeping camp. He was caught off guard and Myrn wrested his blade away from him. She didn't know how many times she stabbed him. By the time she had stopped, when the next watch came to relieve her, she was gasping for breath. There was not a solid peice of him left; she had literally cut him into pieces. At that time, Myrn had no concept of how to fight or how much it took to kill someone. The war lasted a little over two years before it came to an abrupted end. Other clans intervened and put a stop to all the fighting, but even to this day Myrn could not dicern if they had won, or even why they had fought. But even so, it was during this war that Myrn began to teach herself how to use a sword. While hunters were common amongst the Atisha clan, what made them unique from other clans were their Vaan'Dred, Blade Dancers who could not only move with the grace and speed of the winds themselves, but sunder their foes with a single blade. Unlike other Blade Dancers who florished with two light blades, Vaan'Dreds specilized in using one large, two-handed weapon. After the war had ended Myrn spent much of time learning the ways of the Vaan'Dred; their technique, their philosiphies, and their stories. Myrn trained as a Vaan'Dred for five strait years. She was about twenty-four years old before she decided to strike out on her own. She felt that she learned all that she could from her teachers about being a Vaan'Dred, and now that she was an older, more mature woman, she wanted to see the world for herself and make her own fame and fortune. So with her clan's blessing, she went out and became and adventurer. For a while, the adventurer's life was good. Vaan'Dred's weren't just skilled warriors, but also preformers. When there wasn't much swordplay to be had Myrn was an actor, a dancer, and occasionally a singer. Being a fairly attractive wood elf Myrn had no trouble attracting an auidence, which was all the better when a fight broke out as she could show the audience that she could fight as well as dance. Yes, life was good, if a bit aimless. Myrn was glad that she could use her skills regularly, but she wanted more. She wanted purpose. Than one day while she was traveling through Djarkel Myrn made a nearly fatal mistake. She was thinking of taking out a bandit hideout when she heard cries for help off the road. Myrn went to investigate, only to be ambushed by vampires. They held her down to feed off of her. She fought as hard as she could, but as soon as they sunk their fangs into her she could feel her very life leaving her body. She was scared and couldn't beleive that this was how it was going to end for her. But it never was. She didn't know what happened after the attack. All she knew was that she was saved by a brown orc. She never saw a good look at his face or caught his name. All Myrn could remember was his voice and what he did to help her. He saved her, but before Myrn could even thank him he was gone. All he left behind was a crown made of some of the local flowers. That's when Myrn decided that she would repay him with her life; he saved her life, and thus she would serve his. It sounded like a good deal to her, and if nothing else, something interesting to do. Good Attributes: Swordsmanship - Myrn has trained in the ways of the Vaan'Dred of the Atisha clan. Known as Blade Dancers or Dervishes, they are quite adapt at using swords for both preformances as well as combat. Unlike other dancers the Vaan'Dred style of swordsmanship uses two-handed weapons to fight with speed instead of strength. Best used with the traditional Dar'Misaan, a curved elven greatsword. Archery - Myrn was a decent sharpshooter back when she was just a hunter for her clan. She's good with hitting targets from very far away even if they're moving, however she actually as more difficulty dealing with enemies when they close in on her. At that point she'd have to drop her bow and take out her sword. Bardic Knowledge - The Vaan'Dred weren't just warriors; they also cultured scholars and storytellers. They knew a wide range of tales and history from around the world and are quite capable of collecting new stories wherever they go. This makes them good informats and teachers. Bad Attributes: Vampires - Myrn HATES vampires after her near-death brush with them recently. While she normally controls herself enough not to kill them on sight, she'd have a very low opinion on them and can be quite ignorant to see past their vampirism. Hates being touched - Myrn can be rather violent when someone touches her, even if it's something as innocent as a handshake or poke. This was due to not only her experince with vampires, but also during her time at war, where her most trumantic experiences were when she was in physical contact with others. Specialized Weapon - Myrn's training in Swordsmanship limits her to her Dar'Missan, as any other type of two-handed sword wouldn't be designed or balanced for her fighting style. Additionally, her unique weapon may get the eyes of collectors who care more for the exotic value of the Dar'Missan than the fact that it's in Myrn's possession. And while the art of creating a Dar'Missan isn't a secret, it's unlikely that anyone would know how to fix or repair the blade if they haven't trained with Elven Smiths. Short People Fetish - Myrn has a... Unhealthy obsession with small people like dwarves and snow elves. She can hardly take them seriously as she ogles them. She finds them "Cute". Myrn lets her guard down around small people and can be much more tolerate of physical contact (As long as she's the one touching them).
In a move that did not surprise Meirin, Alaira went and attacked one of the guards. She had a mixture of anger and worry; one one hand Meirin was pissed that Alaira had once again acted on her own, but than again Meirin did feel rather suspicious of these guards anyways. She did wish that Alaira would have been more... Subtle. And understandably just about everyone took up arms and readied themselves for a fight. The guardsmen took out their meager weapons and Meirin almost pitied them. But that doesn't mean that she wouldn't kill them if they had to fight. The guards argued against Alaira and frankly, Meirin agreed with them. Alaira may be right for the wrong reasons however, and Meirin was still angry at how quickly Alaira kept jumping into these fights. Before anyone could take a swing at each other however two more people came across from the bridge. Meirin didn't notice them until Ssarak gave her a telepathic message. She glanced at the two newcomers and her face grew darker. Where the others had emblems that didn't belong to these lands, the man in the robes did. In fact, Meirin knew the emblem and the baron the emblem belongs to. She didn't need to know more for her to figure out they've found themselves in a bad position. "Ssarak, I think I know why these guardsmen are here. They must be allies to the local barony, and that man with the staff must be their superior. We need to settle this peacefully; the last thing we need is to be branded as criminals for assaulting guardsmen." Meirin would have tried to keep an empty head, but frankly she had no ways to fend against Psychomancers. If for some reason they want to enter her mind there was little that she could do to stop them, so she went ahead and made her thoughts so Ssarak would at least read them. "We're merely heading towards Hysteria to sell our cargo. We had a run in with bandits just the day before, and our friend here has been on edge since than. Please understand, she only wishes to protect the merchandise and... Us." Meirin choked on that last word. She didn't want to reveal Lyn's presence to these guardsmen less they try to do something to harm her. And if they did... Even Meirin would not be able to control herself. Images of children in her past flashed in her mind as she thought about protecting Lyn. Gritting her teeth and tightening her grip on her staff Meirin watched the guards to see who would make the first mistake.
UserName: Ryonara Character name: Meirin Kurenai or just Mei Age: 22 Mageblood type: Ancient Favoured Magic Class: Weaving Previous Magic training: None Race: Naerse Human Appearance: ![enter image description here](http://i.imgur.com/pkbLmw3.jpg "Meirin Kurenai") Short Bio: Meirin grew up an orphan in the mountains of Djarkel. She was adopted in a martial arts monastery based in the mountains, who help travelers on their way to cities. She spent much of her life there, training and living among the artists. She would, at times, assist travelers and traders by escorting them to the nearest city or town, sometimes accepting payment if the monastery needed money. Most of the time she just spent her days training herself, hoping to one day leave the monastery and open up her own sanctuary someone to help others. When she was sixteen years old, the monastery was attacked. The attackers were not mere bandits and highwaymen, like the ones they've been used to fighting, but demons. No one knew why they came that day and the demons did not make the time to explain themselves. Many of the artists were killed during the initial attack, but after the Master rallied the artists together, they managed to force the demons back into retreat. Meirin was in the thick of it, being one of the first few to be attacked, but also one of the only few to survive. After they repelled the first attack, the Master organized a few artists to find he source of the demon attacks, and Meirin volunteered to go. Though she was young and not the strongest of the artists, she did do quite a number to the demons, and the more experienced artists needed to stay back and prepare the monastery for future attacks. Originally, the Master only sent a small group to scout for the source of the demon attacks. But Meirin sought vengeance for the death of some of her friends. When She and her group did find the source of the demons, a Demonmancer, she convinced the others to help her kill the mage. She planned an ambush and it almost succeeded, if she did not underestimate the abilities of the Demonmancer. Meirin and the scouting party managed to kill a good number of the demons that served the mage, but when they came to finish him off, they fell into a trap themselves. Meirin was the only survivor out of luck, as she was thrown off a thirty foot drop and left for dead at the bottom of the cliff. By the time she had come to, Meirin's allies had been killed down to the last man, once again making her the only survivor. And even though she also found the corpse of the mage who started it all, it was an empty victory for the price they paid for it. Years passed. Meirin truthfully told of what happened that day, including her part in convincing the others to help her ambush the mage. She expected to be exiled for her foolishness, but instead she was given a chance to repent. However, while the monastery may have forgiven her, she never could. She became lethargic, sleeping for hours on end and having nightmares that she doesn't wake up from. Her fellow artists tried to console her, but she could never get over the guilt she felt for essentially sending her friends to death for a vengeance that only she wanted. She tried her best to ignore her nightmares and work on her redemption by being kinder to others, helping them when they need it and not being a bother herself. It worked some of the time, but to her it was just a sorry attempt to make up for her own selfishness. Fairly recently Meirin discovered that she had latent magical abilities which no one in the monastery had much knowledge with. She first discovered her ability with magic when she was practicing a new form, and used some sort of spell that caused her to shoot flames from her hands. She thought she had been cursed somehow and immediately sought the assistance of her fellow artists. Not many knew much in the ways of magic, as even the Master was not a mage, but a few of the elder Artists did know what she may have done. Weaving Magic; an ancient magic that involves movements. The Monastery had once been a place for Weavers, but the practice had slowly died out in favor of more conventional Blood Magics. Nonetheless, they suggested that Meirin go to the mage college and figure out what powers she had within her. After packing up her essentials, she went off to the college and began a new life outside the walls of the monastery. Good Attributes: Martial Artist - Meirin is highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat, well versed in both practical and aesthetic applications of her martial arts. She's also well trained with swords, knives, and spears. Athletic - Meirin Is quite durable and agile, as her training has emphasized those two traits more over than raw strength. Her endurance is indeed almost supernatural, and while she speed isn't quite the same level, it's still better if not as good as some others. Her strength is nothing to dismiss either, as she could throw a growth man a fair distance with astonishing accuracy. Friendly - Meirin is a nice person, even if others aren't being so nice to her. She wouldn't be the type to ignore someone who needs help, and she'll do it for her own sake rather than any tangible reward. She knows that there are people who would take advantage of her kindness or never appreciate it, but she still keeps up her friendly demeanor for those who aren't going to abuse her attitude or for those who need some kindness. Bad Attributes: Narcolepsy - Meirin has a bad habit of falling asleep very easily when she's not doing anything for more than a minute, and it takes a lot to wake her up. She wouldn't wake up until noon if it was up to her. Now she has to take medicine to help her sleep normally, but without it she'll be back to having bad cases of Narcolepsy. Nightmares - When Meirin falls asleep, she has nightmares from what she did when she tried to seek vengeance against the demonmancer. Not all her nightmares are like that however, and new ones tend to pop up, but even when she goes through old ones they always put her in shock. Unbeknownst to her, this isn't just survivor guilt: She has been cursed by one of the demons she fought against that day. It was simply an illusion to alter her perception of the fight, but now it grows more powerful the longer she lets it lingers in her mind. The medicine and therapy helped deal with these nightmares just a little, but sometimes they seep into her mind and leave her rattled. Cocky - Meirin is quite arrogant with her ability as she believes that the time and effort she put into it (Eighteen years or so) has prepared her to face any problem. While the truth of the matter varies on the situation, she's still very confident in her abilities, too much for her own good. She would think that she can single handily deal against opponents who seem weaker than her, despite other factors that she may not be accounting for. Secret Word: Rebirth
I'm here, sorry for vanishing. I'm going through some legal bullshit right now and it's been really stressful.
The caravan master woke everyone up rather early, much to her displeasure. She had a hard time sleeping due to her medicine, and what little sleep she had was not veru restful. Because of it she was rather groggy, but managed to look somewhat decent before leaving her room. Still her body felt a bit fatigued due to her lack of sleep. "I guess a bit of moving would do me some good." Meirin did some exercises to limber up her body and shake the sleepiness from her system. It sort of worked, better when she ate breakfast.

Once she finished her morning ritual Meirin geared up and headed out to meet the caravan. She was glad to know that the caravan master was willing to take Lyn along. "Be a good girl now Lyn. Just stay inside and we'll take care of things out here." Though there wasn't really much to do while they were traveling. Just a lot of walking, sometimes Meirin would hang onto the wagon to let her feet rest. This was starting to feel very familiar for Meirin; just her escorting another merchant through Djarkel. It was almost boring until they reached another stop at a toll bridge.

The bridge itself looked finely made, carved from stone and large enough for the wagon to cross safely. But the place reeked of garbage and worse, while the guardsmen looked like they haven't left their posts in weeks. It was a sorry state, but it's not too surprising to Meirin. Most of the barons didn't care for taking care of the roads, which is why there are so many bandits are able to prey on the countryside. But Meirin didn't like this. The smell, the look of desperation in these men's eyes... Meirin had a tight grip on her weapon.

Looking at their emblems Meirin noticed something off. She didn't travel through Djarkel much, but she recognized the emblem of that of a fairly new baron. If she remembered correctly, the baron owned some land near the sea coast. Now what were the men of a sea coast baron doing this far inland? Meirin had to find out. She turned towards one of the nearby guardsmen, the lest shifty looking one of the bunch (It was a very low bar however). "So.... How's Djarkel doing? Anything new with the barons?"

"Same as usual. Bunch of them nobles just trying to play politics and what not. Ain't too violent, but annoying. Has us guys moving all over the damn place."

Tilting her head in curiosity Meirin tried to get more information out of the guard. "That sounds bad. But what do you mean exactly?"

"You know, sometimes we're playing city guard, sometimes they send us to bumblefuck nowhere like here. It's real tedious, I tell you."

"No doubt." Meirin wasn't really getting much good information from these guys. It just sounds like they were complaining so far. She decided to try to go strait to the point. "It must be pretty rough, considering that you're pretty far from the sea. What's someone like you doing all the way out of your baron's lands?"

"Look tits, I don't know what my boss is thinking. We're just sent here and we got our job to do. I don't know nothing else about why they got us sitting pretty here or nothing."

Meirin scrunched up her face. A rather hostile responds, but maybe this guardman simply doesn't know anything more than that. She didn't want to give up, but she didn't want to make the man suspicious of her either. If they did plan for anything... Unwanted, Meirin didn't want to spoil their chances to fight back. She walked away from the guardsman and responded to Ssarak's telepathic message.

"I'm not sure if these men belong here. Their emblems belong to a baron on the coast. A minor one at that. And they don't seem to know why they're here. I'd imagine that they're just doing their jobs as guardsmen, but unless the political boundaries in Djarkel has changed since I left, they shouldn't be here."

Though Meirin tried to look inconspicuous from the way she tensed with her weapon in hand, it was obvious that she was getting ready for some trouble. Four guardsmen poorly armed, but what if there was more? There didn't seem to be any hiding spots like the tall grass from before, but that only made Meirin more suspicious of other hiding spots possible brigands would use.
Yeah, I got the jist of it. I Erased most of everything, I'll work on it when I have my computer. I have a few questions and comment so I can make him fit in better. If you're going to be on the chat, I should be there in an hour or two.
