Bio

I have been actively roleplaying for around 18 years now, since age 15. Which, as you might have guessed, makes me 33. I've done most of my rping on forums, averaging 2 to 4 paragraphs. Though I also LARP, and have played D&D for about 17 years. Real life has become a larger part of my life though, so my activity has lessened. Even so, I don't think I'll ever stop rping. :)

Gerald blinked, looking like he was thinking for a moment. "Hold up..." He held up his left arm and pressed a button on it. A small holographic display popped up together with a small number pad being revealed behind a panel. The man typed something in, and the number 2250 popped up on the screen. "Oh, you're right. Heh, I've always been bad at math." He mused. 'Bad' was an understatement if he couldn't even calculate something as simple as that. Though that was exactly why he had a calculator in his left arm.

He shrugged, reaching below his bar and taking out a contract and two ID cards. "Now, two more things. The reason it's this easy to become a bounty hunter is because any expenses for weapons or enhancements are your own. That, and you're not above the law. You can do as the contract says, and some amount of collateral damage is to be expected, depending on the height of the bounty. But harming too many bystanders or causing too much destruction can have repercussions. If that's all fine, fill in this trial form and you're good to go."
"They did want the best for both of us yes. They had their own way of making sure that happened, and I wish they would have done fewer things behind our backs." Mathias replied, a slight smile appearing on his lips. She wasn't angry, and even wanted to stay with him. He liked that, as indeed he was a lot less lonely since she had come to live with him. He could even say he had started to enjoy life a little bit again, rather than just going through each day like a robot. "I wouldn't say it makes me uncomfortable to think of us becoming a couple tough. Just...not now. I can't let go of my past yet." Isabel, his ex-wife, had been the love of his life. She still kind of was. And until he could start letting go of the pain he felt for her and what had happened, he wouldn't be able to move on. "But only time will tell what the future will hold. Things could still go into many different directions."

The rest of the trip wasn't much different. Some idle talk, some quiet moments while they just listened to music. The border was easy enough to cross, them just having to show their ID's and Mathias telling the guard that they were just visiting friends in Scotland. Then after another 30 minutes of driving Mathias turned into what looked like a forest. The road was a bit damaged and rather small here, so he slowed down to only 50 kph. It took another 10 minutes before they arrived at an old looking building with a garage door of some kind. It looked abandoned. Though Mathias took out a small remote, and when he pressed the open button the door opened. He drove inside, the interior appearing far more modern and well kept than the outside. There were more vehicles in here as well. An old looking car, a family car, and a Triumph Thunderbird motorcycle.

There was also a smaller building inside the garage. One that looked like a lift that would go down. Mathias parked the car and decided to explain where they were. "This garage was built on top of a world was 2 bunker. Gerald, the oldest of my friends, bought and renovated it to make it his home. He also camouflaged this garage so people wouldn't find anything of interest here." The entire 'house' was underground, since Gerald liked living a life away from society. Maybe because he was already really old even for a vampire.
Mathias grew more serious when Evon mentioned him doing all of this for her again. She wouldn't let the topic go, it seemed. And with good reason. As things couldn't be as simple as what she had been told. That would be too simple. "Well, I wouldn't mind you staying, no. I'd even like it. But that's not what I meant. I can get you a card without you having to stay with me, if that is what you want."

He took a deep breath, hearing her trying to make light of the matter. But he figured that, by now, Evon deserved to know the truth. "I guess I should tell you the truth about why you are staying to me. Or at least what your parents' plan behind it was. You see, back then they were worried about me becoming lonely. Yet they also saw no solution. Once you were born, well...they tried to hide it, but I still noticed what they were up to. They tried to get us two together, Evon. they hoped that one day we would become a couple, so that you could live your life without having to worry about things like bills or feeling safe. That, and as I said, they hoped that if this happened, I wouldn't be as lonely anymore either.

He quickly continued, not wanting to be interrupted when she only knew half the story so far. "However back then I refused. Arranged marriages, even if done sneakily, are supposed to be a custom of the past. They kept on insisting time and time again. But then one day they came with a different idea. If something ever happened to them, that I would become your guardian if needed. I don't know why they chose such an arrangement. But I figured that with this idea, if that time did come, I could at least get to know you under normal circumstances. To be honest, I wasn't planning on telling you at all at first. I just wanted you to live the best life I could give you, to respect your parents. But I guess my thoughts on that have changed. Maybe the last few days have made me realize that at least you staying in the mansion with me, might not be such a far fetched idea after all."

Now Mathias hoped she wouldn't get angry with him for keeping this all a secret. He really did have the best intentions in mind. But sometimes it didn't go the way you wanted it to go, sadly.
Mathias raised a brow when Evon gave him a rather...dubious comment that could be interpreted in different ways. He grinned, glancing at her for a moment or two. "I could give you a photograph of me if I'm that interesting." He joked, turning his eyes back to the road. "Jokes aside, if you want me to slow down just say so." He didn't hear that from her though, so he kept on 'cruising' at around 230 kph for now. After a minute another question came. If she could drive on the way back. So she wanted to try this beast out too...well, in all honesty he was a little hesitant. This car wasn't just any car. Not just anyone got to even buy a ferrari like this, let alone drive it. But in the end, it didn't really matter. Even if she damaged it, he had enough money to repair it. Though if she did he would definitely not let her drive the car again. "I think it would be okay to at least let you try it. Though if during that time I think you're driving too dangerously I will reserve the right to tell you to pull over and switch again." That would be a nice compromise.

The music that was playing was actually kind of nice, even to Mathias. It wasn't exactly what he normally listened to, but it was still music he could classify as 'tavern music'. Though a more modern version of it. So he was fine with the music choice as well. After another half hour of driving though, a police car picked up on them, and they were pulled over. "Sir, do you know how fast you were driving?" One of the cops asked, looking a bit smug about catching what he thought was some rich asshole that thought he was above the law. Mathias just grinned and grabbed his wallet. "Sir, do you know who you just pulled over?" Mathias replied, taking out his ID and handing it to the man. The ID had a code on it that granted Mathias 'political asylum', even though the ID also indicated he was a full UK citizen. "The hell...a politician hiding behind asylum..." The cop muttered, feeling very annoyed that he couldn't lay a finger on Mathias, and only give him a ticket for speeding. Sure, the ticket would be a good 300 pounds, but that was pocket change for a guy like him.

After sighing the man started to write the ticket, and handed it to the vampire. "Very well...I'd rather see guys like you behind bars, but I have no say in this matter..." He grumbled before giving his ID back again as well. "Please try to keep from speeding, sir..." He added, knowing it was pointless anyway. After that Mathias was on his way again, racing off like mad. And all the cop could do was drive the other way. Mathias chuckled softly, glancing at Evon for a moment. "I hardly abuse my power as a coven leader. But when I'm driving this car...call it a guilty pleasure of mine. If you want I can arrange for you to get political asylum too once my time as your guardian is up. This particular version keeps you out of jail, and sends you to the highest authority in the area instead. In this case, that would be me."
The barkeep grinned. This bar was, in fact, also a hub for bounty hunters. If he could convince a new one to sign up after the trial period, it would also mean more money for his bar. "First I'll explain how bounty hunting works. It's actually pretty simple. All you have to do is sign up for the trial period of one contract. You get a card to identify yourself as a bounty hunter. After the trial contract ends you're free to hand in the card, or join up for real." As he spoke the man worked on getting Jurgen his drink as well. "You get bounties through hubs. This bar just so happens to be one. The hub gets 10% of the bounty - their laws, not mine - and you get the rest in the form of a credit card." He put the drink in front of Jurgen and smiled. "Now, as for a bounty. How does 2500 credits sound? That's 2000 bucks for you. The contract is to kill a man that has been stealing people's implants to sell on the black market. He's caused two deaths already. I think it's the best contract I currently have for a newbie. That is, if your drio-- Eve is as good as you say."

In the mean time Eve had taken a few more sips from her drink, while listening to what Gerald had to say. She liked the sound of this bounty. You weren't just some weakling when you could subdue people with implants. The killing part was a bit gruesome in her mind, but hey it was a murderer they were after, after all. But that wasn't the only thing on her mind. This drink was...weird, in a good way. Androids weren't supposed to be able to get drunk or anything like that. But she did start to feel a bit more...relaxed? And there was this weird, pleasant tingly sensation she could feel as well. "Tingly..." She mused, looking at Gerald. "What's this drink?" The barkeep turned to her. "This is my own invention. I used to be a bounty hunter with an android, see. And I ended up with this drink in the end." That hardly explained anything... But Eve was fine with it, as if it was harmful to her she would have noticed by now. And then Gerald went back to Jurgen again. Quite the energetic guy. Or maybe a short attention span. "So, how about it? Want to do a trial contract?"
Mathias chuckled a little, the grin he had only growing wider. "Don't worry. I know this road...how do you say it...'like my backpocket?' I've done this plenty of times before. Plus, if you focus a little you should be able to follow everything as well. It's a perk of being a vampire." He sped up a little more, going up to 230. Though he kept it at that, since Evon seemed to be a bit nervous. He didn't blame her. Driving at these speeds was scary to almost anyone at first. To him too. That first time going full throttle on the highway felt both terrifying and amazing.

Now that they were going at a steady 230 though, the longer they kept on going, the more normal the speed seemed to become. Sure you could hear the engine roar, but nothing more than what the average car would do on the highway. "If you feel like turning on the radio, go ahead." He commented, figuring that some music might be good. Though he also wondered what kind of music she was in to. So letting her pick the radio station, or even one of his CD's, would help. Though his music consisted mostly of 'tavern songs' as he liked to call them. The Dubliners and Omnia.
(Ugh, forgot the names of 2 of his friends too. I now decide their new names will be Mitchell and Gerald! :P )

This car still had quite a few luxuries. Air conditioning, manual or auto transmission, a button for 'sports mode', heated leather seats, and a cd/usb player of course.

"As I said, it will be about 2 hours to get there with this car. With the BMW it would take me at least three. Don't worry about breakfast. They have a fine selection of drinks that also use blood, and Gerald insisted on cooking for us this evening." When Evon looked quite excited to go all out with a beast like a Ferrari sport's car, he too became a bit more excited. It had been quite a while since he had driven this car. First came the slow part though. Where he had to get off of the main roads first. Luckily that would only take about 10 minutes. And even during that time Evon could probably already feel that this car could go very fast.

"It sounds to me like you're the one that's excited here." Mathias spoke with a slight smile. "But yes, it has been a while. So I do look forward to it." He answered. "How about you, excited to see Mary again?" The two of them had gotten along quite well from what he had noticed. She would probably like Mitchell and Gerald too. Only Spike and Lemon were a bit troublesome at times, them both being the very jealous type.

Once they stood at the last traffic light before they left the main roads, Mathias couldn't help but grin a little bit. "Hold on, here we go." He spoke, waiting for the light to turn green. Then, the moment it did he hit the gas pedal. The tires started to spin against the asphalt, the engine roared. And off they went, like being shot from a catapult. This car could go from 0 to 100 kph in 3 seconds flat. Or in his case, since he wasn't a professional driver, in about 3.5 sec. But he didn't stop there. He kept on going to 130, then 160, and finally 200 kph. He stopped accelerating for a little bit there, to see if Evon had any comment or needed to have a moment to breathe. Though after that he would keep on going all the way to 300. As this car's top speed was about 330. Normally driving at these speeds on backroads would be very dangerous. But Mathias knew this particular road very well, and knew that during this time there would be hardly any traffic. Plus, his vampire senses let him react to anything that could come their way.

(The man's like 45~50 years old, so Jurgen is a boy to him. :P Also, found a pic I could use for the barkeep. He has at least one cyborg arm, though doesn't look like he enhanced his size with anything. So yea, he really is a giant of a man. :P)

The man started chuckling when Jurgen started to rattle out a series of questions. Though all of them came down to a single one. What this bar was about. "You two came here without even knowing that?! My bar only allows mechanics and their androids. Just regular owners are allowed too if the android's smart enough. And this one of yours definitely qualifies!" Eve frowned, turning to the man and tapping his arm. "Hey bud, don't talk to him like I'm not even here." The man turned to Eve, a slight look of surprise on his face. "An android with self-awareness? That's a new one... Boy - what's your name anyway? - I don't know where you got this one's brain chip, but you better keep an eye on her. A chip like this could earn you at least two million credits. And you don't look like you can afford a new one.

Eve got even more annoyed, still being talked about like she was just a thing. Well, she was...but it still annoyed her. "My codename's Eve. Keep talking about me like I'm not here, and you'll be needing a new arm." The man laughed, motioning towards the bar. "Fine fine! Eve it is. I'm Gerald. Now, how about I offer you two one free drink? And in the mean time, why not tell me why you're here? Maybe you're interested in becoming a bounty hunter?" Things now started to get confusing for Eve as well. It was like this guy couldn't stick to one topic or something, going from starting a fight, to interest in her, to offering them a free drink, and now he wanted to draft her into bounty hunting or something? It was probably best to indeed sit down and take that drink, as right now this man was way too energetic. And quite a few eyes from the bar's patrons were turned their way as well.

Once seated Eve wanted to let Jurgen do the talking. He was the owner and he had arranged for her to fight in the arena after all. Plus, he seemed better with words than her, and had making money on his mind. She didn't want a repeat of the first bar they had gone to the previous day. "Jurgen, why don't you tell them about our plans?" She asked him, pulling out her cigarettes and lighting one up. Without even waiting for Eve to tell what she wanted, the man put an amber coloured, oily looking drink in front of her. Kind of like motor oil, actually. Though he did wait for Jurgen to order something. As the drink for Eve was the only drink he had that androids could drink.
(Meh, double post...anyway, I don't remember the cars he had exactly so I think I'll pick new ones. :P)

"Don't worry about taking too long. You didn't keep me waiting." He replied. A gentleman shouldn't tell a woman she was taking long, after all. And she was ready sooner than he had expected anyway. "You look lovely as usual." He also, added, finding that he thought she looked pretty no matter what she looked like. The engine of a sports car could be heard outside, and after a few moments a horn as well. It was Martin indicating that the car was ready. In other words the tires and engine had been warmed up, the temperature inside was optimal, and the seats had been pre-heated as well. Outside stood a Ferrari F12. One of Mathias' three cards. And this one was pretty much made to go fast. Very fast, even...

"Ah, I should ask you in advance, Evon." Mathias spoke as they stepped outside. "I can go all-out with this car on the road we'll be taking. However if I do so the ride won't be...relaxing, but exciting. So I'll leave it up to you. Would you like me to show you what a high-end sports car can do, or should I drive normally?" Evon could probably tell that Mathias would love to just go wild for a bit. Though this was a trip for the both of them, so he wanted her to enjoy it as well. As he awaited her answer he walked her to the car, and opened the passenger side for her. For the next one and a half days, starting now, he would not have his servants to rely on for such things.
