"Well, good to know you at least won't die even if I decide to use you as a chew toy." Zara replied with a slight chuckle. And indeed he didn't have to explain that last part. She was fully aware that her looks weren't exactly the worst you could find even in the city. And she was pretty much on the same mindset as him on that part. The shelter Kevin described sounded like a pretty good spot. Heck, since they would be below the normal ground level a small fire might not even be spotted. Though it was best not to take that chance with just the two of them. The man wanted to pick up pace, looking like he was having another paranoid moment. Not something Zara was a fan of, but she decided to follow suit. Her feet would be hurting again, but at least they could rest and soon after that go to sleep within an hour now.
The rest of the trip was mostly spent in silence again. Though this time with good reason as well. Voices could carry pretty far if you weren't careful, which would make them more easily discovered. Finally they went what felt like downhill. Though they reached the bottom very quickly. And on the other side the hill was going up again. It was hard to tell that they had walked into an old sink hole at all. Even with her night vision in her left eye. The large rocks and plant life made it impossible to see the edges of the pit already. Only actual underground caves or something similar seemed better than this place. "Any place I could hang up a tarp? Just in case it rains tonight." She spoke softly. It didn't seem like it would considering how clear the sky still was. But that might be quite different halfway through the night. Or even during the morning. And staying dry was important to her at least. "Also, I think I'm going to try to sleep immediately afterwards..." Exhaustion was starting to kick in, even the chill of the air not being able keep her from getting drowsy now. Plus her feet hurt like hell as she had suspected, so she wanted to lay down and not get up until the next morning again.
