Bio

Greetings all, I'm just an old and crusty veteran (49yrs old) and its been a few years since I've had a group to RP with. There have been so many new RPs in the past 8 years I haven't kept up with any of them. I have played 1. A pin throwing grenade dropping Troll in Shadowrun, 2. A headless Dwarf in AD&D (Not my fault I swear), 3. Superhero (Blitzkrieg), 4. Decypher Star Trek, 5. Mallet Jones (Brujah with balls) in WoD, 6. Windego masochist (died in the Umbra while killing a demon). I have very limited RP from other games.

I think it can be allowed though, are you playing an original char or yourself?

I will decide what season the rp will start but probably spring and not winter.

I will start the thread, but since only two people have shown interest, and only one around, that being you. I need to think if I want to start the rp with only me and you.

I'm going to play myself. I'm working on a character profile.
STR 9, DEX 9, CON 10, INT 12, WIS 12, CHA 7 ((I'm 58 so my physical abilities are weak))

I plan on rolling D 20s to determine success/failure. I'm creating a list of skills (Professional, Hobbies, Researched) I'll need to roll below the number. The degree of knowledge is provided here and the number in paranths is the number needed to roll under to achieve success.

Skills; Untrained (4), Familiar (6), Beginner (8), Practiced (10), Trained (12), Experienced (14), Expert (16)

Creating my profile, I have nothing that is 'expert', only a few skills from my military service are experienced, and most of my skills fall in the (Untrained to Beginner) levels.

If I can make a suggestion. Create 'Authors; ##Location##' threads for each player, if things go well this could last a while and having multiple players on a thread like this will clutter up the thread and confuse people.
1. My knowledge of other cultures (example; Knowledge of Japanese techniques) are allowed even though I'm in the Moscow region of Russia?

2. Are you deciding on what season we arrive in or do we? It would really suck being naked during the coldest winter months in Russia. If it is a random check than that is cool, I like random.

3. Should we start our own thread and link it here?

I think those are my last questions

Since I'm a historian with an interest in Russia, that is my culture. Narrowing that down, the region surrounding Moscow. This is a very strong starting point for several reasons.

1. Resources; Thick forests, open plains, fresh water in the various rivers. Strong hunting, berries, nuts, and vegetation.

2. Overlapping cultures which complemented each other. There were hunter-gatherers, animal handlers, a psuedo-agricultural farming, and in the eastern boundry mining for copper, tin, diamond, gold, and silver. These groups openly traded with each other.

At the same time things weren't peaches and cream. There were predators like Brown Bear, Polar Bears, Grey Wolves, Amur Tigers, and Lynx. Winters are cold and only provide 2 hours of light each day. Also, to the west were rival tribes.
Race; Sqrigs
Appearance; Sqrigs are between 3 1/2' and 4' tall, the majority of their bodies are covered in Red, Reddish-Brown, or Gray fur; with their belly pouch a light beige. They have tiny ears located on the top of their head; under their arms are strong leather flaps which allow them to glide, a furry tail to steer the race while in the air. Their fingers and toes are elongated and strong though lacking the flexibility and range of motion found in humans.

Linguistics; Their speech is devised from cheeps, chirps, and squeels that can be translated into a morse code template though the words are closer to Chinese grammar.

Culture; Sqrigs are a tree people, they connect trees with rope bridges. Homes are built by weaving jungle vines around flexible branches and peel tree bark into long strips layering them above the weaved structure serving as a roof.
Does it have to be a non-fiction race? or just a non-fiction society? Yes, I am interested as well. I just want more detail on that. I have two cultures being considered.
Location; Fort Knox, Kentucky
Time; 4;20 A.M. Tuesday, 19 October.

Military Police vehicles rushed from multiple patrols converging on the Bullion Depository. Federal groups convoyed in from private access roads while helicopters patrolled from the sky. Officers were busy taping the area, establishing a crime scene. Quick Reaction Teams were being established and assigned to corridors within the building. Paramedics were treating injured guards.

Inside the building an overwhelming odor of burnt rubber filled the hallways, emergency lights flashed providing a dimly lit illumination along the corridors exposing the burn markings and fractured walls. The intermittent squelching of field radios through the hallways revealed the progress patrols had achieved as they slowly maneuvered to the primary holding areas.
Name; Mineral
True Name; Chief Petty Officer Vance Strom
Gender; Male
Age; 56
Ht; 5'10"
Wt; 210 lbs
Affiliation; Villain

Background; Vance served in the Naval Research and Development program for seven years. He served as the head test team in project Metallica which researched the ability to alter physical forms. Three years ago, the chief began suffering from medical issues including body trimmers and siezures. Because the research he was involved with was classified, the military removed all traces of exposure and experiments from his medical records. The Navy and Veterans Affairs denied the sailor's claims, leaving in crippled shape.

Over the past three years, learning to live with and manipulate his condition. Random transformations of his body into various metallic substances from Iron skin to Beryllium. His joints became flexible wiring which allowed him to contort his body into a vast number of physical forms.

Powers; Alter forms (able to mutate into any physical form) and metallic mineral.

Weaknesses; Extreme Temperatures (sub-arctic freezing acts like arthritis as it makes joints brittle; Extreme heat (melting point) makes it difficult to maintain any physical form.).
I salute the guild. I am Sarge. Long time roleplayer. Play; VtM, WWA, Dnd 3.5 and older, Star Trek Adventures DM/ST; DnD 3.5 and older, VtM, and Star Trek Adventures.

I've been away from the game for a year now dealing with health issues, but am finding my way back to the fold.
Start running, the old cranky sarge has found the site. I'm not a great DM, but I am a fun DM. I DM, AD&D 1st, 2nd, and 3.5. I also run Shadowrun 5th ed., VtM 20th Anniv. and even a city building campaign. Your only challenge is having to deal with that Uncle Joe from Madea because I'm the white version of him.
Thank You guys for the welcome
Hello everyone, the site has just got older and crankier because this old veteran has joined up. Hoping this is going to be a great experience and look forward to meeting folks. As for games I like my old school DnD/AD&D 1st, 2nd, 3.5; OWoD, Shadowrun, L5R, Star Trek, been a long time since I played Gurps and Rift.
