The OOC is now up!

Interested, but I have a question. Later on in the story(assuming it stay's up that long), will it be possible to become Jedi or Sith? I'm fine with it being a no, I'm just curious is all. I don't really have a need for a Force-Sensitive if I can't really do anything late-story.

I certainly won't rule anything out. Just bear in mind that it wouldn't happen for a while, considering that the only Jedi in the Rebel Alliance is Luke Skywalker and at this point in the story he's undergone almost zero training with the Force, so he's really unlikely to pick up on any force potential in your character unless he's really looking for it.

Setting
This RP is set in the Star Wars Universe.

Three months have passed since the destruction of the Imperial superweapon, the Death Star. Galactic Civil war rages on. The Rebel Alliance is still in the process of finding a new HQ after they were forced to abandon Yavin IV, fearing retribution from the Empire. This means that the Alliance High Command is currently in hiding.

Even so, the Rebellion is currently going through the heaviest period of recruitment in it's history, thanks in no small part to the massive surge of confidence brought about by the victory over the Emprie at the Battle of Yavin. As a result, the Rebellion has seen fit to set up special training camps on Alliance-friendly planets throughout the galaxy and placed their most decorated veterans in charge of training up the next generation of Republic heroes.

At the so-called 'Rebel Academy' on Corellia, a shuttle prepares to touch down carrying the newest batch of recruits...

The Rules
-The GM's word is law. If the GM appoints anyone to be his second, Co-GM, Vice-GM or whatever, their word is considered law too unless over-ruled by the GM.

-Posts will contain no less than a full paragraph of text (minimum three sentences) except in circumstances where quick responses are required (combat scenarios, etc). As a rule of thumb, there should be no less than two posts by other players separating any two of your own posts. Anyone believed to be posting too much and unnecessarily will be spoken with. This is not a Free RP.

-Players are required to have a firm grasp of the written English language. This means the correct use of capital letters, full-stops, speech marks, etc. I'm not going to tell people off for misplacing a semi-colon, but I will get narky if basic grammar isn't adhered to.

-Players are free to debate the finer points of the goings on, both in and out of character, but anyone perceived to be bullying, flaming, shit-stirring or in any other way causing unnecessary drama, I will strap on my GM leg brace, open up a can of whoopass and start stomping mudholes in them. And that's the bottom line!

-A small level of gore is to be expected in an RP about soldiers going off to war. That said, unnecessarily graphic, brutal or upsetting levels of description about said gore will result in me being severely weirded-out. Additionally, romance is allowed (because, you know, why else would you join the Rebel Alliance if not for the hot alien babes?) but anything further than kissing will need to take place either in PMs or through some other medium, not in the thread. Get your jollies in your own time, people!

Characters
Accepted characters will be listed here. Deceased characters will be listed here, along with their cause of death.

Character Sheet
@13sparx13 Ah, then no. Since the EU is no longer canon, we won't be using it as a basis. That said, I still might borrow certain things from it, and you are free to reference the EU in your characters and posts (provided that it doesn't contradict anything that I've written).

Also, since I think there's been more than enough interest now, I'll begin working on the OOC soon™.
Sounds cool. Out of curiosity, does Legends count for anything?

Dafuq is Legends?

Interested! Quick question though, would I be able to play a Droid?

I won't rule it out, but it would have to be a very good character sheet.

If this gets posted will we get a PM, check back here or check the Casual Role-play Forum?? Thanks ^^

If/when I do the OOC I'll leave a message in both interest checks and link to it.

I'm very interested!

I think this will be a huge help for me to roleplay more Star Wars in the future since I love it so much but don't follow the books... yet.

I won't be following the books very closely either, if at all. Given that none of them are canon any more, there seems little point in doing so.
Well, you don't have to be massively up on your Star Wars lore. If you've seen all the films you'll probably be fine. If you want to bone up on anything in particular, I suggest the Wookieepedia, it's full of stuff that might be helpful for character creation.
So I had an idea for a Star Wars RP where the player characters are new recruits into the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Some ideas I had:

Setting:
The RP is set during the Galactic Civil war, a couple of months after the destruction of the Death Star.

Characters:
I'd like the characters in this RP to be straightforward non-Jedi. Aside from that, I'm happy with pretty much anything. If you want to say that your character is a little force-sensitive and that's why they're a really good pilot, that's fine. I'm even happy for any Jedi or Sith characters who show up to remark on the presence of force-sensitives, but I will draw the line at anyone trying to use actual Force powers.

I would also like people to try and stick to canon races as much as possible. Most of the time I don't mind homebrew stuff, but for this RP I'd really prefer to stick to established Star Wars stuff. The authentic Rebel Alliance experience!

Plot:
As I mentioned, the player characters would be recent enlistees (as in, just off the shuttle) in the Rebel Alliance. The RP would start in a basic training camp and I'm thinking my character would be their drill sergeant. The RP would progress through the standard things like weapons training and fitness drills and whatnot, but also flight school (starting in T-16 skyhoppers and progressing through to X-Wings). Eventually the recruits would 'graduate' and be placed together for deployment, at which point I'll decide where we're going.

If there's anything else anyone wants to know about, feel free to ask. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see what sort of interest there is, and if enough people want to do it I'll get onto making the OOC thread.
No particular order, but:

- The Princess Bride
- Pulp Fiction
- Hunchback of Notre Dame
- Star Wars Ep. V - Empire Strikes Back
- Star Trek: First Contact
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- The Dark Knight
- Aliens
- Die Hard
- The Matrix
I've had plenty of time to think today and I've come up with some more details:

So I had an idea and have been thinking about it for a few hours. How about an RP about a group of people who sign up to join the Rebellion, going through basic training and then thrust out into the galaxy to fight for the Alliance? I'm thinking it would be set just after the Battle of Yavin (a massive victory for the Rebellion and no doubt a rallying cry to the galaxy, makes sense that their recruiting numbers would go up in this period). It would be fun to explore a period of the timeline that would no doubt have been crucial to the survival of the Rebellion, yet so few materials have touched on: The period of time between Episodes IV and V. If the RP lasts that long, our soldiers could even be stationed to help build the base on Hoth and participate in the eventual battle there, even the Battle of Endor and beyond!

It's just a rough idea right now, but if anyone reckons they'd be up for this let me know! Basic ground rule though: No Jedi characters! If you're thinking of character concepts, being Force sensitive is fine (so long as it's not over the top!) since force sensitivity can help with shit like fixing things and being a good pilot, but none of the characters involved should have any actual training with the Force. I'd want to make it the authentic Rebel Enlistee experience, not an episode of 'How special is my snowflake?'.
