Leaving 20 September until 30 October. Going to be a shitty time in the field. Probably going to be a week after that before I even think about writing again.

Sounds like fun.

You want me to start us off then?
sounds good to me.

And yeah, the virus kicks adrenaline production into high gear, and if she's already sane enough to not go crazy, she can probably control her adrenaline boosts too... I'd say it would take at least three average people to take on most vampires in crazy mode, more if they have magical powers, and less if they are particularly out of shape...
If you want any more, let me know.
Almost seventy years after the Awakening, just as technological and magical advancements are coming to a head, an insurgent group uploaded a virus into cyberspace. One that infected everyone who lacked sufficent firewalls while plugged into cyberspace. And anyone who wasn't using an intermediate device to access the internet was most certainly not protected. The media referred to it as a "vampire plague", but the media wasn't around for long. Anyone infected with the virus would be overcome by inexplicable, uncontrollable rage the moment they experienced hunger. They were compelled to assault, and attempt to eat the next person they saw. Live broadcasts showed more than a few images of riots devolving into a mass of infected individuals attempting to eat one another. Over the course of three months, society collapsed under the weight of the epidemic. The virus also mutated rapidly and unexpectedly, running rampant across cyberspace, even managing to circumvent most firewalls for a time. The world's population was devastated. Even machines weren't immune to the disease, however they never experienced hunger and were incapable of transmitting the virus, so it did not seem to affect them in the slightest. The only group that showed any kind of significant immunity were the Therianthropes. Post-epidemic estimates claim that as many as ninety-five percent of all therianthropes were entirely unaffected by the vampire plague. During the initial stages, many who were uninfected, or apparently immune banded together, and attempted to hunt down these "vampires". Their efforts were still not enough, however, and usually resulted in nothing but more death and destruction.

Ten or so years after the fact, and the world is in recovery. Synthetic lifeforms, rapidly retrofitted with military hardware and commanded to defend various areas provided protection to many survivors, and still more even reprogrammed themselves to help with rebuilding. A few have even managed to integrate seamlessly into society, successfully masquerading as regular people, and only causing trouble when they set off infection detectors. But cyberspace is still incurably infected, and those wishing to access it are forced to either utilize more mundane means of browsing, or to plug in through a computer of their own to ensure that the virus is unable to infect them.

There is one group, however, quite dedicated to destroying the virus by any means necessary, and they have been putting out a call for aid. They want people to help them search for anyone with a unique strain of the virus, anyone who might be infected, but not in the typical way. There are still plenty of "vampires" kicking around, and some of them are even working on maintaining their sanity, roaming the wilderness outside the stalwartly-guarded havens set up by the machines. There are some brave souls, whether immune or not, that wander the no-man's-land that is the world outside the massive habitation buildings that once served corporations. They do everything from delivering snail mail and trading for various goods, to hunting down vampires for cash. One such wanderer, more inclined toward the latter, than the former, has only recently realized that finding a unique vampire might even allow him to retire, and has begun his search far from his usual stomping grounds. The only problem being, that he needs them to be alive when he brings them in...
cool beans
Cool beans, I'm still working on actually writing it out, since I wasn't sure if you were down or not, but I should have it for you tonight. Any particular part of the world you want to set this in?
I've never played the tabletop game, but the computer games were good.

basically there's a shadowrun-esque world, so pre-ftl sci-fi setting with magic being relatively commonplace, and then there's an epidemic, a lot of people die, and then people start putting things back together. The disease causes people to go crazy and try to eat other people. the rp would involve an infected person who claims to be not crazy, and while they still have to eat people, there's a small group of people who believe they might be able to find a cure using this mutated not-crazy strain of the virus. so these people hire someone to go and get this person and bring them to them safely. someone who, shortly after the apocalypse, acted as a crazy person hunter, putting an end to the psychos still terrorizing the few non-infected people. Obviously this doesn't go over well for the not-crazy people eater, but they learn to work together, and then they arrive at their destination, only to find out that the people who had promised a cure, were actually trying to make a super version of the virus, and not being crazy is the first step to really utilizing the disease. so then the pair escape and go looking for sane people...
how do you feel about a post-post-apocalypse shadowrun style idea?
Octavius opened an eye when he heard Ceres pull up a stump next to him. He nodded quietly when she observed on his waking state, and carried on sipping at his water. Then she pushed two pieces of paper toward him, and the captain was forced to open both eyes to actually see what she was going on about. Someone had drawn a decent picture of him, and even put a bounty on his head. He smiled at the thought, and his smile widened when his food arrived. He wasn't feeling polite enough to wait for his companion's food to arrive, though, and he dug in immediately. He horked back the first sandwich like his life depended upon it, and the other two followed in short order, though he did manage to eat each one slightly slower than the one before it.

By the time the third bacon and egg sandwich had disappeared, the pirate lord was starting to feel a little better, and he chugged back more water to help that feeling along. At this point, all he really wanted to do was go back to bed, but he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something he was supposed to be doing. Then he remembered that they were supposed to be working today. They needed to patch up their ship, re-evaluate the crew, and see about moving onward and upward. They had ships to sink, people to terrorize, and loot to acquire in vast amounts. He sighed at that, and wondered if he should stop drinking. "Got any plans?" he asked Ceres as quietly as he could. He had no problem taking inspiration from her, especially since she didn't seem to be suffering like he was...
