Yasuke stood on the school field with the rest of class 1-A. Gang Orca had brought them out here to conduct a PT test to gain a better understanding of their quirks. Yasuke was excited and a little nervous to see where stood amongst his peers. The tests were simple and straightforward, and while you could use your quirk to assist you in completing each event, there was a physical aspect to each test. For someone with a quirk like Yasuke physicality was a must if you wanted to be able to utilize a passive quirk like his efficiently. To that end, Yasuke had been training his body mercilessly since he moved to Japan in an effort to make up for time lost and actually make his quirk effective. Next time I won’t be too slow, he thought.

“All right students, gather round.” Gang Orca’s voice boomed over the chitter chatter, causing the class to immediately fall silent. “The first test will be a simple 1mile run. Please line up at the starting point.”
As Yasuke took his place he looked around at the other students, some people looked comfortable in their stances, while others looked as if they weren’t sure how to stand. There was a loud bang, and everyone took off sprinting. This is only a one mile run, so I don’t need to conserve my energy like I generally do for my road work. Time to pick up the pace! With a focus on his breathing and stride, Yasuke took off. He was surprised to see some of the other students still keeping up. As he crossed the finish line, Gang Orca yelled out his time.
“ 6:01!”
Yasuke shrugged and slowed his breathing. Easily not my fastest time but still good. Can’t let myself get distracted by others, it’s impacting my performance.

Next up was the long jump. While he received enhance physicality from his father, there wouldn’t be much in the way his quirk could truly help. At least I’ll be able to get as close as possible. As Yasuke began to sprint he focused on his aura pushing it out four feet from his body, this way he would be able to time his jump with the exact edge of the platform. Now! Instead of jumping straightforward, Yasuke jumped slightly at an angle and pulled himself into a ball flipping end over end. As soon as his aura told him he reached the zenith of his jump he kicked his legs out and up allowing the momentum of his feet to act as an anchor point, spining him and pulling him that much further forward, sticking the landing. Twenty-five feet! Yosh! On to the next one.

As Yasuke waited for his turn on the ball toss, he observed the girl in front of him. I think her name is Yin. She used her quirk to open a portal and tossed the ball through. She was sure to have the record, and with his quirk Yasuke wouldn’t be able to come even close to matching that. Sensory Divination won’t be able to help me in this scenario, so I’ll just have to trust in the strength of my arms. Winding up, Yasuke threw the ball as hard as could. IKE!!!! Yasuke frowned at his result and looked down at his hand as if in betrayal. Not nearly as far as the barrier girl or shapeshifting kid, but it can’t be helped. The next event is mine!

As Gang Orca began recalibrating the debris machine he called the next student forward.
“Yasuke Mandaris!” Orca yelled, “Show me what you can do!”
“Sensei! Actually, if you don’t mind can we just skip to the highest setting? Maybe turn on two if you have another?” Yasuke asked.

Orca could feel his eyebrow raise in bemusement, as a few of the other students guffawed at Yasuke’s boldness. But as Orca really observed him, he couldn't see any cockiness in his face, just confidence. While most hero class students were athletic, the fact that he had a solid physique was clear even with the standard gym suit he wore. His movements bespoke his martial training, there was a languid flow to his movements, the kid moved like a leopard stalking his prey.

Orca grunted, “I see you have confidence in your quirk but this test is simply meant to gauge your abilities not push them to the limit. Just do your best.”

As Yasuke nodded, Orca turned the machine on, let's start at 50%. Orca observed as all the debris began to fly by Yasuke, almost flowing around him. Orca checked the machine’s alignment, that’s odd, the tracking system is active but…ahh, his quirk is tracking the velocity of the debris and he’s able to adjust before they even get close making it look like it was off the mark to begin with. He shows promise. Let’s crank this to 100%!

The next piece of debris came much faster than the last causing Yasuke to make a more obvious movement in order to avoid it. Looks like he’s finally taking me serious, Yasuke thought, as a smile started spreading across his face. Time to step it up! Yasuke could sense that not only was the speed of the debris accelerating but the intervals between pieces were shrinking as well. Yasuke closed his eyes and pushed his aura out even further. Battle Trance!

Orca couldn’t help but be impressed. After he closed his eyes, Yasuke’s movements began to get even more precise and… is he walking forward? His movements were almost a blur, he could hardly keep track of him. No, that’s not right, it’s not simply that he’s fast. His flexibility and speed allow him to move in ways my eyes wont naturally predict. As Yasuke made it barely foot away, Orca ended the test. Yasuke was sweating and breathing heavily, he only made it look easy.

“Well done Yasuke.”
Yasuke stood outside the entrance to U.A., the big gold lettering shinnying brightly in the morning sun as if recently polished. Today is the day I officially start my journey to become a pro-hero, he thought. With a final wave back to his mother who had been yelling words of love and encouragement since he stepped out of the car in an attempt to embarrass him, Yasuke stuffed his hands in his pocket and made his way to classroom 1-A. “Time to get to work.” He muttered under his breath.
It didn’t take long for Yasuke to find the correct classroom. It’d be a lie if he said he wasn’t a little nervous to meet his peers. Since he was admitted via recommendation, he didn’t get the opportunity to really meet anyone beforehand.
“Let’s just see what’s waiting on the other side, shall we?” Forming his hands into the sign of the ram, Yasuke extended the reach of his quirk, “Battle Trance.”
In an instant, Yasuke could “see” everything in the room as if the wall in front of him had vanished. Unlike seeing though, it was harder for him to filter out the things he didn’t want to pay attention to, especially any life forms. Inorganic objects were easy to filter out after their initial ping, but humans were more complex and rarely completely still so the information he got from them was always being updated. Every second he kept his aura extended the more information that was being transmitted. Someone was approaching the door, so he let his aura return to its normal setting. As the door slid open, his homeroom teacher towered over him, his imposing form filling the doorway.

“Well, don’t just stand there Yasuke, come in and take a seat. Class is about to start.”

How does he…of course he knows my name, he’s the teacher and a pro-hero to boot. Of course, he has basic info like our names and appearances memorized. Feeling a little silly, Yasuke quickly made his way into the room and sat down at an empty desk near the front. Most of the other students were talking amongst themselves. Gang Orca called the class in session, began calling students up one by one for introductions. Soon enough it was his turn, and Yasuke made his way to the front of the class paying special attention to his quirk so he didn’t trip and embarrass himself.
“Yo! I’m Yasuke Mandaris, and my quirk is Sensory Divination. It allows me to sense anything that comes in contact with my aura and gives all the relative information like, speed, trajectory, relative force. While I didn’t get to meet any of you at the entrance exam, let push each other to become Pro-Hero’s. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!” With his introduction done, Yasuke made his way back to his seat.
When everyone was finished, Gang Orca, said they would be moving on to a PT. This is what Yasuke had been waiting for. Time to put all that training the test!
Yasuke sat at his workstation, fingers tapping away at the keyboard as he was worked on some R&D. While watching the provisional license exams had reinvigorated his determination to become a powerful hero, it had also shown the gaps he had to overcome. Not only in strength, and technique, but also in equipment. A hero costume not only served to augment a hero’s strength but also to shore up their weaknesses, and that’s what Yasuke was working on now. He had some ideas that he wanted to try, but unfortunately, none of them were exactly cheap. That means it was time for him to pick back up his original work, the direction his life was going in before his abrupt change to become a hero. As if mimicking his thoughts, the alarm on his cell phone started playing, Legend Has It by Run the Jewels. He absentmindedly flicked the alarm off and stuffed the phone in his pocket as he stood up. Before he exited his room, he stopped to look himself over in the mirror. He traded in his cross trainers, cargo pants, and compression shirt for, oxblood dress shoes with blue navy-blue slacks, and a gray button-up with epaulets on the shoulders. His shirt was tucked in, but he wore no tie and his sleeves were rolled to his elbows. While he preferred his training gear, he had to be a little more put together for where he was going. He checked his watch one more time before walking out the door. Thirty minutes before the appointed meeting time but it’s only a 15min walk, meaning I should arrive 15mins early. Perfect.

Yasuke let his mind wander as he walked, transportation is another thing I should look into. While I do technically have a hybrid quirk, what with my quirk being an offshoot of mom’s quirk, all I really got from dads hetoromorphic quirk was a slight boost to my natural constitution. I can probably tank a few hits that would knock the average person out, and hit a little harder, but I don’t have his level of agility and strength that allows him to move in bounds and leaps. So how can I make it from crim-

Yasuke’s thoughts were interrupted by the blaring sirens of several police cars blowing past him, without thinking he started sprinting in that direction. He didn’t have far to go before he reached the police perimeter that seemed to be about a block out from where the incident was happening. What could be going on? If you continue down this street and take a right at the corner, you’ll reach…the bank! There was a loud boom, followed by a little smoke cloud rising in the distance. Yasuke couldn’t tell if it was an explosion, simple destruction, or even the manifestation of someone’s quirk. But his quirk responded. He could feel his detection range increase by six inches, and as other people began to gather they started coming within his range. He easily maneuvered through them like water through a riverbed and avoided bumping into anyone.

What should he do? What could he do? Flashbacks of screaming and explosions flashed through his mind, and he could feel the heat on his face. His aura tried to expand even more. He clamped it down. Not again! Just calm down and think! Even if you could do something you’d probably just get in the professional Hero’s way. You are a student in Class-A at U.A., it’s against the rules for you to even try. As he took a few deep breaths and continued to reason with himself, his aura stopped fighting. Besides, the only reason I’m even in this area is that I have an actual job I was contracted to do! Oh crap, the time!

Yasuke looked at his watch and realized he only had ten minutes before he was late. If I sprint the whole way, I should arrive with a few minutes to spare. Yasuke dashed off, thoughts of completing his suit and becoming a pro-hero fueling his speed.
***EDITED TO PROVISIONAL LICENSE EXAM***

Yasuke walked down the stadium stairs, eyes scanning the arena. He took note of all the entrances, exits, and the other people in attendance, trying to judge the best avenue of attack a villain could use. Not that he had much to be worried about, not here at least. This was the Provisional License exam after all. The professional Hero’s would be on high alert, and the students taking this test would be the next Hero’s to enter the scene, at least the one that pass, Yasuke thought. Still it was a good habit to maintain if he wanted to excel as a hero. He was excited to see how the Provisional exam would differ from his own. To see what he could learn, how he could prepare. His parents had connections that allowed him to bypass the en masse entrance exam via recommendation. That revelation had been a shock. He knew his parents supported his new-found desire to become a hero, but he wasn’t expecting them to take an active role. That just means I have to work that much harder.

Finding a suitable place to observe from Yasuke sat and waited for the exam to begin. While his first goal of getting accepted to UA had been achieved, he still had a long way to go. His next goal was to be down in this arena with the other applicants. There were so many more students here than during his interview! How powerful are their quirks, he wondered? How powerful were the students from the other schools? He wouldn’t have to wait long to find out, the announcer was getting ready to start the exam.

As the aspiring Hero’s started their race against the clock to battle each other, knocking other students out without getting knocked out themselves, Yasuke began to catalog all the different quirks he could…some form of elemental control… a barrier quirk… he never thought to use a water quirk like that...Hmm his movements seem similar to mine, moving before the attacks even come…a mass area of effect quirk, good for multiple enemies…a speed quirk? Could I ever hope to be that fast? The passive physical enhancement from father's quirk won't be enough. I can't be that fast, but i can be faster than I am now… A smile slowly began to creep its way onto Yasuke’s face, but when he noticed it he immediately corrected his face back to one of stoicism. There were just so many powerful quirks!
Even though the exam was over he could feel his adrenaline begin to pump in anticipation, as his aura pulsed and tried to expand, reaching to gain more information in anticipation of a fight. He had to forcefully contain it. His earlier excitement ballooned. A smoldering fire burned with an eagerness for the semester to begin. The second years were amazing, but in order to achieve his goal he had to better. He couldn't hope to beat them now, but soon. He would use all these other Hero course students to refine and master his quirk. He could barely contain his excitement. The smirk returned to his face, but this time he let it stay. It’s time to go beyond!
Name: Yasuke Mandaris

Age: 15

Superhero Alias: Satsui-Yurei

Superhero status: Aspiring hero

Quirk Name: Sensory Divination

Quirk Ability: ( Passive: when used on self) An aura that extends 18in out from his body. Aura can be extended or reduced. Quirk allows him to sense anything that comes in contact with his aura and its relative information like speed, trajectory, relative force. Drawbacks: If aura is extended too far it can result in sensory overload from too many stimuli, resulting in headaches, dizziness, and blackouts. Can also be extended to a singular object (leaving him uncovered) giving him information about the structural integrity of object (also applies to people).

Looks: 5’9” Dark skin tinged with copper swirls, golden colored eyes, athletic build, black hair shaved on sides with twist on top. (similar to kilik from soul eater sans glasses). Generally can be seen with a serious face.

Brief Bio: While both his parents have Quirks that would have allowed them to pursue a career as a Hero, they chose to work in the civilian sector, and became very lucrative and influential from it allowing them to establish worldwide connections. Yasuke was of the same mindset focusing on how his quirk could be utilized in the civilian sector. It wasn't until he experienced a traumatic event (will be detailed later) that he began to turn his focus to Hero work. As his quirk is mostly passive, Yasuke seeks to increase his natural fighting ability. With this in mind he convinces his parents to move to Japan in order to learn martial arts from the source and make a bid for the prestigious U.A. .
